Very cool! thermal cams are indispensable for troubleshooting the power supplies and mainboards I work on. As well as figuring out what windows in the house needed attention. This is so awesome man. If you need a cheap, USBC version , look for the HT102 series. There are others made with the same package. Thanks for making this video
Hello FixitFrank! Great idea with the (HT102) as a higher-resolution option, I think the flir one is slightly more expensive. I was so surprised at how quickly this project came together, and can't agree more on how useful thermal cameras are!
Great idea! I know it's made a couple appearances, to be honest, I think hybrid imaging works really well for circuit board thermal analysis. It's really hard to imagine what component you're looking at with this low resolution.
Of course, it's possible to use multiple sensors, but I think aligning them will be a challenge. For example, if you align them so the sensors make a perfect grid at 1 foot away, the sensors will overlap and measure some of the same areas when measuring objects farther away. yikes! It's probably best to use a single higher-resolution IR camera! I know there are some decent ones that are made to work with a smartphone!
Hello! I am planning to develop a project to map sweet potato in the soil. So, how can I connect MLX90640 (thermal camera), OV7670 (normal camera) and arduino to be visualized on LCD? Thank you in advance!
Hi DJ, I'm not sure... it's range is pretty good, but resolution isn't great. You may be interested in this, but I've seen some IOT moisture sensors that are pretty cheap. Not great for finding new leaks, but could be helpful near common failures (valves, water heaters, HVAC, etc) They generally use stainless steel contacts and can talk Zwave or Wifi. You may want to consider the FLIR phone add-on cameras as well, very cheap for what they do! For example: FLIR ONE Gen 3
Amazing, I'm a student I have a small project about thermal camera so I like to know how to make? And plz send me list like (breadboard, jumber wirs..... like) I hope u will reply soon Thank u
Hello mohamed, cheers, and thank you for the comment! There are many guides to follow, but this one from adafruit is pretty simple, with a wiring example. I hope this helps! learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-amg8833-8x8-thermal-camera-sensor/arduino-thermal-camera
Hi Dustin.. I have to admit that the resolution isn't great. Considering it's running on an arduino compatible though... I'm still impressed! Won't be taking down flir any day soon. :)
@@EEforEveryone sorry. I'm just searching for information. I'm hoping to find something 625x480 that I can run on a monitor on a boat or semi mobile. Its a long story but I fish looking for ripples on top of the water at night. Just trying to avoid spending 5k without knowing my idea will work out. Thanks
@@EEforEveryone I have an actual thermal flir camera I was lucky to get a hold of. I wish I had your know how. I'd turn it into a night vision for the car... that'd be super cool... 😅
@@NonnofYobiznes I would just get a high resolution camera without the ir filter, add a visible light filter, hook it up to either your phone using a hud app or something similar. You may want to double check that you don't need a UV filter or anything like that. I haven't studied enough to be an expert. Don't forget IR illumination. Check laws to see if it's legal
It seems that you are strongly indicating that this is not much more than a toy. After watching this video, I still know nothing about this product. Why did you just personally play with it? 2mm from an object, is that it's total range? Get over the Oh, it's so cool. That does not describe the product. I'm glad you were so excited over it. But it would have been nice to know something about it. Is a laugh all it's good for, just to play with? You made it look like a childs toy. Maybe thats what you were tryng to communicate. But, now I've got to try to find a real review that actually gives some information about it's specs, range, applications, datasheet etc. etc. But at least I know a toy exists that can do something with IR. I'm glad you were excited over it but that's personal, and made for a disappointing video for people who needed info on the product. Unless it's just a toy with poor abilities. Otherwise, you described it perfect. It's just a toy.
Not to be mean and nothing personal. But dude.. please fix the way you talk on video.. your "uh's" "uhm's" and those small breaks between getting to the point.. it's quite annoying when this happens I'm very sure the crowd would agree. Have a nice day. And bro, nothing personal. Keep on keepin on soldier!
