Great vid Mike! After researching many different plans and vids, we fell on yours. Simple, yet classy and functional. Did exactly how you did with the addition of a side rail with the leftover 2x6. Thanks for taking the time to make such a great, detailed but concise vid!

Just a word of note, make sure you dry the landscape timber before attempting this. Most landscape timber is waterlogged and you will have a hard time cutting it cleanly.

So I tried and cut all my 3x3 the way it mentions in the video and and it gave me a 72 inch length instead of 74… not sure if someone else had the same problem ? But it works for me. I adjusted the length accordingly and I am using something different instead of a twin mattress.

Your video says the roof trusses are 43” long but here you say they’re the same size as the side posts (4 feet or 48”) I’m following your instructions but the 74” sides were too short and I couldn’t figure out why until now. Also, the 2 1/2 inch screws were too long for the roof trusses, they went through and were showing about 1/2 an inch through the other side.

Did you cut teh 3x3s to 4ft then cut them down at 22 degrees so that the highest edge is still 4ft? I do not have a table saw so probably going to use some 4x4s from a big box store. Thanks for the video!

I know this is a stupid question for someone seasoned, but can you please explain the 22.25° cuts? If the sides to the base 2x6 are 90° angles then how are the roof cuts not 30° since their overall obtuse angle measurement should be 120° angles for the roof trusses… I could be doing this entirely wrong, but as lumber prices are rediculous and I’m trying to decide converting the measurements to a toddler crib mattress, this information would be very helpful! Thanks!

To do a full size do you know what the measurements would be by chance? 2. What kind of paint are you using? Oops 3. Did you have to prime and or seal the paint you used?

@mikekushnir6978 4 года назад
Thank you for watching 🙏 Yes I primer first and then paint it with some white paint I had and I believe it was eggshell finish The measurements for a full-size is So instead of cutting 38 inches wide for a twin size you will be cutting 53 inches wide for a full size and the rest is the same

Awesome bed. I'm going to try and do something similar. Only question is that Kreg Jig - I think it's meant for only 1.5" thickness (so for 2x's), but any issues with the other side (without the screw) and gaps? Are your 3x3's true to size (so 3"x3")?
