It’s been fun, once again, doing a build with my Dad. He’s 79 now, so not as agile as he once was, but the mind is still sharp and he’s had plenty of ideas for this truck camper build. We’re currently looking at paint samples for these new cabinets. 😮 Yeah! I’m painting this time. I didn’t paint at all in the Astro van camper build. 😉

Very nicely done. I've been watching a ton of truck cap videos and taking notes before I start making plans and gathering materials.

Impressive immaculate build! The counter and cabinets turned out great. The sink lid is a good way to keep your space multi-functional. I like the proactive step that you took with securing the water tank in the cabinet from sliding out during travel. You and your Dad make a great team doing this solid build together. 👏

True, we do make a great team. People in the neighborhood come by to see what we’re up to and tell us we should start a van/truck build business. Haha!! We would rather do the work and spend our time enjoying the results. 😁 Counter space was something I really wanted, so sink with lid and eventually we will either make something or purchase the lid for the cooktop. That’ll be a lot of counter space for a truck. 😜 Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate the feedback. 🤙

Between You and your Dad I think your build ideas are spot on. All you need and well placed and pleasing to the eye. Great job Troy & Dad : ).

Thanks for the feedback. Sometimes one of us has an idea, but it is only a 1/2 complete idea, so the other one of us completes or improves the idea. 😁 The build is way better with two minds. 👍 Thanks for watching/commenting. ✌️

Thanks! The kitchen has been great! I’ve been living in the truck for 9 months now and I’ve tested things out pretty thoroughly, so now I’m hitting the road for a real test. 👍 Thanks for checking out the videos. 😁

Thank you for another great video. Beautiful job. I bet helping you with your truck build has been stimulating and fun for your Dad. I love your kitchen and now I am thinking I want to redo the sink and stove in the old class b... I can't wait for the next build video. Thank you so much for taking us along.

You’re right. My Dad wakes up in the middle of the night with an idea or a solution to a build problem and sometimes can’t get back to sleep. I think he REALLY enjoys it. A break from the normal day to day chores. Yeah, the kitchen came out great. We just dismantled part of the cabinets and bed to paint. 😳 Haha! My Dad doesn’t paint, so painting is all me. My Step-mom did, however, pick the colors and I approved her selection. Hopefully, paint will be done today and I can put it all back together. 😁

Nice job. I guess you have a little more space than me as you don’t have a liner in the truck bed. I do in mine as, being in Canada, I wanted to get some insulation in the sides so it made sense to leave the liner in and insulate behind that and seal it, as opposed to building plywood walls. Worked out pretty well with the ribs in the floor of it as install points for the construction, too. I like your doors - I’m undecided on whether to add openers or sliders - or just use a curtain. Doors hold things in place better than curtains, though. 👍🏻

Great stuff I hope you'll be happy in it. You might consider using a few hose clamps....

Thanks for the hose clamp tip. 👍 We just pulled the cabinet doors off to paint, so I‘ll check the hoses. ✌️

Some kind of classy build! I would need some low plastic containers to hold pantry items, so I could slide the shelves' contents out easily rather than bending and reaching into those back areas. Looks like the magnets might hamper access? Did I see that you found a way to make the gasket between the cab and cap less noticeable?
@TravelingTroy
@TravelingTroy Год назад
Right. I will treat the panty storage like my under the bed storage….less used items to the back. 😉 Might never need that can of chili, but when I do crave it, the can will have a nice spot in the back of the pantry. 😁 The magnets only protrude into the cabinet space by 1/2 an inch, so not a bad compromise. We mainly wanted something to keep the doors closed on turns and to keep the pantry items contained. If you recall from the van, I used a net for that purpose….not so good. 🤣 So far, no changes to the boot seal….maybe just more stuff in the truck diverts the eyes away? Thanks again for watching/commenting. 👍

@@TravelingTroy I meant the gasket as not visible from the exterior. It was just a quick glimpse so not something I examined for. How I'm going to store food is a question on my personal list.

On your kitchen countertop, what width did you cut it to? Thanks.
