When I realized she used the pointy sharp ends of the skewers for the legs of the couch, I thought it was because Vampires have fangs. I'm not done watching yet so if she paints them white with some red tips it would make sense. Otherwise, yeah, probably stakes. Sort of like a werewolf living in a place filled with silver bullets. and holy water, and crosses
Thanks for explaining about the chipboard. I was always confused when I head people say it on videos because in Ireland (where I live) it means a sort of wood board (a bit like ply wood but made of lots of little chips of wood instead of flat sheets). P.S. I love your videos.
Ara, I just want to say that I recently discovered your videos, and you have reignited my love of miniatures and dollhouse making! It has inspired me to get back into this hobby❤
Now that you're (pretty much) finished with the Addams Family house, maybe I could convince you to take up another spooky house project: The Collins Mansion from Dark Shadows! I love that movie too, and on seeing your inspiration when it comes to vampires, I think you'd do an amazing job!
The Collins Mansion would be so so fun!!! I have watched several of the TV seasons (not all because there are soo many!) and the movie! The house from either of those would be amazing to try to recreate!
Wait what? There's a Dark Shadows MOVIE??? I got sucked into that TV series when my grandparents visited once and they watched it at 4pm every afternoon. All kinds of twists and turns in that show. I remember there being a dollhouse in that mansion too. Seemed like never ending possibilities there. My older sister had the Dark Shadows board game. hahahha good memories We kept watching it after the grandparents left. Thanks for that Grandma!
A great project! Vampires are so beautifully mystical. I've already made boxes, tags and mini albums in coffin form, but I haven't thought of a couch yet. Brilliant! Thank you for the inspiration. ❤👍 LG vom Tinchen
OUCH! How remiss of me - I was so anxious to see The Gothic Unicorn's creation that I just flew out of here - without telling you how amazing and amusing your Vampire "Empire" Couch is. I have come back to atone for my bad manners, as well as to get my Thumbs Up on record. Thanks for the link to Gothic Unicorn - I have subscribed to her channel as well.
Thank you George! You did exactly what I hope others did too... jump to support some more miniature artists! (but of course I always enjoy your comments so I am glad you came back! :)
So you are using wooden stakes for a Vampire's Couch? hmmmm .... hehehe Great job! Love the way this looks! Keep up the great work! Have a better day ... as I always say!
I know I'm late seeing this, but I love it and the vamp set was really classy. Vlad would approve. I agree that the added bats made it sort of juvenile, but it still a great creative touch.
Oh! It would be amazing to make a coffin double bed!! With a canopy maybe......... Thank you for your wonderful ideas Ara! And you’re right, spooky season never really ends.
Perhaps your vampire would have a werewolf rug. Faux...of course! A set of occasional tables, end table(s) with urn bases and maybe the coffee table is supported by headstones. A double casket bed with a concrete grave vault base. Maybe your "babyish" lampshade can go in Pubert's nursery. I was so excited to see my minis at the end!
Are you planning Pong? You are thinking of doing the Collingwood Mansion. That brings back memories or nightmares. I would come home from school and watch it. Now I think about it Why? Nightmare!
I love your gothic vampire couch and lamp!! I think the addition of the tiny bats on the lamp was perfect. Not babyish at all in my opinion! I probably would have made the lamp shade a tiny bit bigger since the stand is so tall. I love how you're so through. Not only with your instructions but also making sure to put links for the tools you use. That's very thoughtful of you! Another awesome video this week! Already looking forward to next weeks!!
Love the sofa. Almost a mid century Danish feel with the hairpin style legs. So the lampshade wouldn't have fringing if you were matching it. If you were going more Victoriana for the lampshade, the fringing would be much longer and heavier. Then you could do all sorts of interesting shapes, as a Victorian shade could have two matching larger sides with more features including decoupage pictures, and two thinner sides to close off the shape. There's a creator doing tiktocks of making Victorian lampshades - I saw a Nifty facebook post of some of her tiktocks :)
I found one of your videos on RU-vid about the cardboard dolls house. My daughters first dolls house was made from boxes and I am in the process of trying to create a mini christmas doll house. I love watching your videos and how create you are at making the pieces that you need
Oh my gosh, I'm so in love with this!!!! I hope I can make this look as good as yours!! Perfect for the vampire room in my witch mansion. Thank you so much, love this!!!
What a super cute idea! I love the pop of red with the glossy black and gold accents; looks really nice. I'm currently working on a Haunted Tower with an attached cottage with my 3 youngest girls and I think this couch will fit in perfectly. I was thinking that the legs look more like fangs to me than stakes, so I may try to paint them to look like teeth? Anyway, love your take on gothy dollhouse miniatures! And my girls love the miniatures you make too!
Oh this is perfect for my witches house! I have been arguing with myself over realism/whimsy and I just decided that it can be realistic AND whimsical at the same time lol!
Love it, and gave me an idea of how to use the lid from one of the wooden Halloween coffins I got at Michaels! May also solve my “Oh crap, the couch I made is a teeny bit too big for the dollhouse room” problem I ran into...lol!
Happy to see you keeping the creepy crafts alive after you completed your Addams Family mansion . Your coffin couch fits The Munsters aesthetic perfectly , maybe you could make the coffin phone booth from the series as an addition to the coffin couch ? Thanks for the entertaing videos ( your DVD menu ending was too funny ) and for all of the clever miniature construction ideas you have shared .
Nice, it spontanuosly made me think of Cigarr smooking Hannas diary from Frankensteins Aunt, as i remember Uncle (i can't realy remeber if he is just one of her relatives or her lover) sleep in a vampire coffin with an alarm clock and radio equipment, i used to watch the TV wersion whan i was a child. ha ha.
@@BentleyHouseMinis When i checked it up now it turned out to be from a Swedish kids/Youth (probably for a bit older kids...) book written by Allan Rune Pettersson en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frankenstein%27s_Aunt
Since i always have trouble finding the bedding material, i just take cotton pads, cut them to size, glue it on and upholster it. Works fine :) Don`t throw away the rest of the cotton pads, i usually pull them apart , fluff them up a bit and use them as pillow stuffing.
As for your ads query, I had a look at this one just now and as I thought, there's an advert at the beginning (and again if you stop the video for any reason, then there's a yellow mark which denotes another one in the middle and then at the end and they're evenly spaced so no worries with these videos. I will check how it goes on your live streams here in the UK and leave a comment on the most recent one if anything untoward shows up but I have never had a problem with the amount of advertising on your channel as you're one of the better sites and we are aware that this is your job and are happy to watch ads if they're supporting your content.
oh yes I like the carnival ride idea. Instead of the tunnel of love it would be the haunted house ride. She'd need little tracks through each "room/scene" and some cars shaped like spooky things to go on the tracks like caskets, or giant eyeballs or skulls where you sit in the mouth as you go through each of the various monsters, like vampire, werewolf, creature from the black lagoon, Frankenstein's laboratory, etc etc If she ever completes it, or as each area is done, she can put a tiny camera in the "car" and let us see the view as if we were on the ride. Oh Casper the ghost too, the movie had a lot of good stuff in it. Maybe you could even use connecting tracks like Thomas the train stuff. Seems like a never ending thing since more movies come out all the time. Might need to add a second floor and have the track go up and down. I am not sure how to mechanically rig up the little cars so they move along the tracks, some kind of cable system? Hopefully something that could be manually operated
@@BentleyHouseMinis took my first born to disneyland when she was 4 1/2 years old and she did NOT want to go on ANY of the rides that were indoors. We eventually got her onto the Pirates of the Caribbean and It's a small world and I think maybe the haunted house. But at the end of the week (we had a 5 day pass) we asked her what her favorite rides were so we could do those again another time, and It's a Small World was among those. I guess when you're a little kid being out in the bright sunshine is less scary than going into a building of darkness not knowing what to expect at all. When you're in line for Teacups or Dumbo you can SEE what it is like before getting on the ride so it makes sense.
A gothic room or two with a dark, scary staircase??? Hmmm check out Jeremy's one from Black Magic Crafts, for a mini diorama he did. I also think Max from Max DM Crafting did a cool staircase with a trap awhile back. Love Love LOVE the vamp sofa!!! You are amazing Ara! Always "on it"! You could hang a huge portrait with moving eyes. Dark Shadows had that as well. This could be a vamp from years gone by, living in a modern world. He may not need a bed for sleeping but, okay nevermind. Iwas going to a bad place with that idea. Lol
LOVE the couch, but I agree with you, the lamp...is cute, but doesn't really fit the amazing couch. Still....I am am amazed at your creative talent! Love your creations and minis! :-)
If you love the vampire theme, I would like to suggest reading JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood. A different take on vamps, but absolutely incredible storytelling. This of course if you are a reader.
Hey, Ara!! I made my first miniature ever yesterday and it was all thanks to your channel, you're are super talented and inspiring, I hope someday you do another project that everyone can send you something to contribute just like the captain's bookshelf ♥
Oh sorry about the couch, it looks great. You didn't need the handles at the end because they only use them on the sides. The fabric on the arms looks perfect, it was easier to see in your final shot. 👍💀🕸🕷
