How to tap into your Mercedes Sprinter existing diesel fuel tank to run your diesel heat, hot water or cook top. This is a 2020 VS30 sprinter, there is also notes in the video for the differences in older model Sprinters.
This seems like the only clip on this new shaped Sprinter, so appreciated. Its good to see peoples mistakes as well when the diesel spilled everywhere so as not to make the same mistakes.
Thanks for posting this. Just about to install a heater in our 2018 313. Not sure which pump housing we will find on tank but either way shouldn’t be a problem😊. Regarding “in tank” pick up tube length. I would tend to place the end quite low to allow for out of level parking etc. We don’t plan on staying in one spot for multiple days so would only use a litre or two max. Cheers 👍
If you need it that low to allow for out of level parking (uncomfortable sleeping) you’re definitely risking running your fuel empty with your heater. But it’s your build and your choices.
Does your van have J51 option that gives priority to the float level in the tank over the calculated level the computer comes up with. “Fuel gauge, optimized for aux. fuel tap”
HI. Loved your video. I didn't quite hear what size Torx socket you used on the strap bolts I haven't got any, so need to go buy some. Hope you can help. Cheers
@@mickbradford7955 HA! Thanks! I ended up finding out my 2019 has an Aux tap built in! right behind drivers door, 5/16 quick connect. I'll have it tapped on Friday!
yeah this one has the merceded OEM extended tank so bigger than normal. It works well for me, I need to measure how far one tank actually goes. will share when I do
Had a look at mine (4x4 2020 V6) and what looks like to be a breather for the fuel tank just has an open end (it was tucked up into the chassis a bit) ,is that right :-o what if you do a water crossing ? will water get into the diesel tank , need one of those ping pong ball fittings like my goggles and snorkel had as a kid , or has something fallen off, wouldnt think you could vent to the atmosphere in this day and age ...???
hi . just about to do same on mine....just bit worried about a strait connection. is there enough space when fuel tank is lifted up? or it bends?. would you mine to add picture how it fits when tank is fixed back in the position?? thank you. great job
But then you run the risk of using all your fuel up by the heater overnight better to put the new hose and run it shorter so there is always some gas left

@@werollwithit Where did you get the hose adapter? You just say it's thick on this side and thin on that side. I need to order one and I can't find it! Did you just get it at a car parts shop? HELP! Thanks for the video!
