55 Dollars is a reasonable price, for that hose. I have to replace about 1 a year on my Compact Ford 1715, which is 26 years old. Usually a lot quicker to, having one made than trying to find one ready made, as you found out

@KoalityofLife

$55 isn't bad for a hydraulic line. Most of what you are paying for is the fittings on the end. I pay a minimum of $50 for a custom made hydraulic line when a hydraulic line breaks on my backhoe. And it only takes a few min for them to make it as long as they have the fittings in stock. :)

An addendum to my previous note:- Regarding the Hydraulic hose made to order...... it’s called OPPORTUNITY in search for money. I had the similar experience on (high pressure side) Power steering hose that sprung leak on one of my “Ultimate Driving Machines”. A short piece of high pressure (300psi) hydraulic hose, about 65cm. The Vehicle Agency did not have it in stock, they’d place order to Germany etc etc..... and the cost.... exorbitant! The local Papa Mamma store replicated the item for $65 plus TAX! I end my case. Did I hear some one whisper “ it’s called price gouging “ aw well....

Price for that hose made to order is about the same as it would cost here in the UK, more if you have to call them out to site to have it done, they know they have you by the short and curly's, and so they charge accordingly, it maybe interesting to check how much it would have cost you from the dealer, to give you an indication for the future, you might get a shock there too. Hope you find water for the new well not to far down, good luck.

Many Oreillys auto stores make hydraulic hoses. $5. a ft. in UT. Stay away from the dealers, they saw you coming. I bought the same Deep Rock well drilling setup 35 yrs ago when I was building my off grid home in W. WA. LOL, Surprised to see they are still selling that setup. Made it down 22 ft. before I hit a big rock. Burned up 2 $60 diamond impregnated drill bits before I gave up. Moved over 10 ft. and started over. Made it down 15 ft. before I hit another big rock. Hired a pro well driller and did it the right way......:) PS, I bought a 6 inch auger bit to dig fence post holes for the DR head. That works fine for that. 2,000 ft of fencing, ahhhh to be young again.....:)

I did my well in garage, before anything, then dig all dirt, which was about 18 inches, then perfect gravel as deep as you want, so I’ve drilled 100 feet deep well, water is excellent, maybe first 5 minutes was dirty, then it cleared, and my well produces 20 gallons per minute, and so I did bought a commercial deep well pump that can pump 20 gallons per minute, and water line is 1”-1/4 all the way to water expansion tank, no reduction anywhere, right after expansion tank, it’s 1” going through 5 microns filter, and enters a cold/Hot water manifold, which branching out through the house, so I can turn on or off each faucet individually hot or cold. And my water pump is about 8 feet from the bottom of the well, but water column is 22 feet deep. And starts about 4 feet from ground level, all the way to the house, and to the first shut off ball valve, right before expansion tank, I have a heat tape, taped to the pipe, to keep water line from freezing, it’s 30Amp, 220V 9 Watt per foot, and it’s about 88 feet, connected through the electronic timer, programmed to turn on heat tape every 2 hours for 15 minutes, so far it’s being great, if water freezes, I can override timer, and run heat tape as long as I need, however, it’s a self regulating tape, since it’s also commercial, and high wattage, it can get 200F hot, so to prevent water from boiling in the pipe, when it’s get hot, it reduces power, and tape gets cooler. It’s also important to properly adjust air pressure in expansion tank before fill with water, on empty tank air pressure should be 2 PSI below ON setting: (example) Your pressure switch is 20-40 PSI, 20 PSI is on, and 40 PSI is off, so expansion air pressure should be 18 PSI. If your pressure switch is 30-50 PSI, then air pressure should be 28 PSI, and if your pressure switch is 40-60 PSI, then air pressure in tank should be 38 PSI, but make sure on empty tank, with no water in it. That way you’ll have a good water pressure in the house, and your tank can last a lot longer, all though on 80 gallons expansion tank with 40-60 PSI switch, and pressure set 38 PSI, you won’t have a lot of water in tank, maybe 30 gallons or so, it will be at first welding band, and that’s how it should be.

HEY - Put a frame around the White PV Pipe - Make it pressure proof. Pump it full of air to 40 to 90 PSI. QUICK Release of the pressure will drive your well into production. The first flow may be muddy but after 2 or 3 days the flow maybe clear. TRY IT BEFORE YOU DRILL A WELL - You could save the cost.

That's wild. We have a hand pump at our farm in TN and it comes out crystal clear. Then again the whole area is on an aquifer and we have hundreds of springs funneling into a creek on our property. With that and the abundance of game, we would be pretty good. Other people are the only thing I would be worried about
@think2086
@think2086 3 года назад
You added only one size of gravel and only around the casing. You didn't add it to the BOTTOM, right? Seems to me that you had the silt coming in from the bottom and that was the issue. Need gravel and some finer screen in addition possibly to keep the silt on the bottom from filling up the casing. You may need several feet of bottom. I realize this violates the 18 foot rule, but then again if you excavated 4 feet off that part of the property first in a small area, moving the soil to your garden or what not, then wouldn't that buy you another 4 feet of digging to install some bottom filtering? I wonder how long a delay you'd need between the two actions. Anyway, if you had a few feet of various sizes of gravel and maybe even a non-toxic water permeable screen below the casing (maybe on the sides as well if the silt is going through that little bit of gravel you put there), then the silt wouldn't make it through due to all the inertia it would experience in my guess. Right?

Run a pump for a few days... it should clear up. Even a 12v pump would work to keep it pumping and clean it up. A 120v would work also - both would operate on a solar panel or two with a battery. And why did you chose that location for the well?
@robertlaird6746
@robertlaird6746 3 года назад
I found you because of your solar video. We were thinking of cutting the cord and going off grid like you but are not sure if all of our wood working tools will work as well as our home if we go only solar. We have our home, a detached garage that we would like to build cars in and then another detached building that's our wood shop. Our home was rotted and unfinished when we purchased the place and are rebuilding it from the foundation up with our own hands, without any hired labor and debt free like what your doing. Our well was installed in 1978 and still has the original equipment. We are starting to have issues with some of the electrical parts and would like to replace all the equipment in our well shed but don't know which brand of equipment to purchase. We live right next to a river. Are well is 135 feet deep and produces 87 gallons per minute of perfect drinking water and we don't need any filtering system or anything. We had the water tested and it's perfect as perfect can be. We must have tapped into an underground river. Anyways, I'm looking forward to seeing what you purchase for your well house equipment and why you chose that equipment over all the other brands available. It would be nice to know what the options are and what the difference is between them are. Made in America is the only brand I purchase and I respect you for doing that on your batteries.

Whom ever you have been listening to regarding how to get good drinking water without the hassle is way out in right field. The neighbors well at 300 ft should have set off alarm bells. A well at 300 feet in northern Idaho should cost between $15 to $25 per foot, depending on difficulty. Difficult drilling can cost $50 per foot. If I use the figure of $20 per foot your 600 foot well should have cost you around $12;000. You could have bought 2 x 6;000 gallon food grade plastic rain water tanks for around $5,200 each. The tanks are placed next to you house and or barn. With your average rainfall of 33 inches per year that is more than enough to last you for a full year using only 300 gallons per day. No trenches, no wiring, no more cleaning screen filter on submersible pump and no more necessary maintenance required. Good luck and God bless. I do like your videos.

Your custom made just for you when you need it yesterday has no real value, its value depends on how much you need it = how much you paid for it.. OK, say you wanted to travel 10 miles, its very cheap to walk, or you could get a bus, wait for it, share the cost of its value with many others (WHERES YOUR CORONA MASK) or you could order a taxi, be only you as a passenger to go 10 miles, but you have to pay for the instant service - no difference then to your costs equated to an instant fix must have pipe.....LOL.. Sorry about my thinking as I drove a East London Cab on and off part time for 14 years till I had just about enough of passengers moaning about the fares - lol - Thanks for the video, Ian..UK -- OH PS did you price 2 at the same time? would have been cheaper then doing that journey again maybe tomorrow ? newish tractor blows hose in very cold temperatures/ can it happen twice ?

No more than $30.00!, I'm looking for a small hydraulic hose machine!.

The high pressure house is more important. You must remember, those hoses carry 300+ psi hydraulic pressure and that’s the reason of high cost. Now, what about the fittings on both ends? The machine you talked about is only a high pressure Crimper. That’s all it does. And you need to be precise when crimping. If the crimping pressure is high, then the inner tube will be deformed, causing fluid leak. If the crimping pressure is low, again causing leak. So it’s better the professionals do the job. But if you are thinking of entering into a business....... then, it’s a different story altogether. That later. Bye for now. 73s...

What was your water source before this well? I looked in our area and it varies so widely from 15m to 100m. Most estimates I have gotten are in the $20K range for well. That hose would be $100 in Ontario CAN

That hose costs 19.00 where I live in Northern Michigan. I just had one made. Industrial quality Italian made fittings and USA hose. Made in 5 minutes. You got....hosed.

Kind a hard to say. Found a hydraulic hose for €39,- (Netherlands), but if it’s custom made and they would charge an extra man hour, you can add another € 50,- to it. US$ is € times 1,1 🙂

Not a bad price for custom made hose. Just be glad your not spending $800 on a hose. Oh yeah that’s what your average heavy equipment custom hose can go for. I’m not talking your really large mining equipment, cause I would imagine they cost considerable more than that.
