I love these DIY videos. After 57 years of fishing, I am now starting to learn how to fish. I have a friend who has been fishing for years and this tackle box is full of dollar store items (various materials, lures, hooks etc). He comes back after a few hours on his kayak with supper for a few days. LOL!!!
I think the foam rollers serve a three way purpose. One, it is a hook guard. Two, the foam may make the lure/bait float a little. Three, the fish may think the roller is a piece of worm. Great tips!
F I N A L L Y, you solved my problem. I fish in Farm Ponds do to the usability for safety reasons (I am 80 years old). So I have learned to enjoy fishing for carp. The problem I have is that "Bluegills steal the bait". They seem to like to be near the top of the water column. I will use your suggestion so "I can fish near the bottom that is in snag filled ponds". I use circle hooks so I just get lip catches and not injure the fish. Thank You!
Great dollar store finds. How about cutting strips from worn out soft plastic baits instead of discarding? You could also probably make about 50 from a pack of fishbites.
wow oh wow, I went to South East Asia losing like at least 100 hooks trying to catch the snakehead due to the weed problem. I have to spend additional money buying this weedless hooks(useless). Finally, I found my solution after seeing your video. Thank you!
Good to have some of those pieces in you box, but I fly tie 50lb mono to my hook let the line go 1/4" past the hook tip some broom bristles will work. Those foam pieces will make your bait more buoyant which could be handy...
Hi Steve Perfect timing, i was just trying some of the diy weedless on you tube and this vid popped up. Great ideas and show how on your part. I wonder if you could think of a DIY to hold the hook on a jig while shooting docks with a jig (so hook doesnt hook your fingers. i know i saw one vid of something called a dock shooter and it was just a small shape of a semi oval with a hole or two on the ends that you hold while bending the rod.....Regards and thanks for all your vids, Ive seen a bunch...Ken on the Delta CA
I tie my own flies (poppers, hoppers etc) with 2MM Hobby Lobby Craft Foam. You get about 4 square feet for $2. Seems that cutting the foam into strips would get you the same thing. And, the foam won't get water logged.
Sorry but it is going to prevent the fish from being hooked. I know it isn't your idea but just as it pre ent weed from being hook it will prevent the circle hook from ketching.
It's obvious to me that your Army retirement check is not enough since you have to always shop at the Dollar Store. I'm going to start sending you a couple hundred bucks each month and I encourage all your viewers to do the same. Send me the money and I'll make sure you get it.
