Wow... This is so easy to make and so useful. I needed this badly, my wife always used to put hot utensils and cookers directly on the table. But now I have these cute coasters to save my table from my wife's wrath. Thank you so much. You are a life saver.

Also you can cook and bring it to the table so that u make sure to place them on the coaster😁😂

Cooker might break the coaster. It's good for light weight cups and utensils.

U shud be able to use epoxy adhesive like araldite

Yes u can use them but make sure u oil them well before putting the mixture else it's going to be really difficult to get it out

Do i need to cure portland white cement oval trays or coasters by soaking it in water before varnishing? What do you recommend?

No I did not do any curing. Just wait until completely dry

Can i seal the coasters without painting them over with this same sealant and is there any other option to seal with?

Yes u can, but the sealent is mainly meant for protecting the paint. Else u don't need it.

Your mix maybe too thin, try with lesser water

It's not as fragile as glass but yea it could chip/break

Hmmm, it dint do that for me. Perhaps u need to adjust ur cement to water ratio?

Try making it thicker consistency. Another u can do is add sand as a binder in a ratio of 1:1

Will the coasters break if they fall, or are they solid as concrete? Will cracks show up after a few years of use.

Yes I think it should. Make sure u use a protective film over it.

They don't break very easy, but yea they could chip at the edges if not handled carefully

Do you think curing the cement in water for a day or 2 would help?

While these are beautiful, it isnt advised to make a project out of cement without an aggregate. Cement is like a glue, when you add an aggregate to it e.g sand, it becomes Concrete. Cement by itself is very weak and brittle. Add 1 cup sand to 1 cup cement to get a good working base of Concrete.
