In this video I walk you through the tear down, cleaning and re-lubricating of a White Industries Dos ENO bicycle singlespeed (actually two speed) freewheel.
This process should take 15 or so minutes depending on how thorough you are and if you’re filming yourself do it :)
This is a basic tutorial and can be completed with mostly everyday tools. I wanted to demonstrate, as a professional mechanic, that a seemingly scary task is easily taken care of with a little effort and basic tools.
If I were doing this for a customer and was at the shop with a full set of tools and replacement bearings I would have fully removed the bearing and throughly degreased the entire freewheel body and internal driver.
I have very little ventilation in my basement shop so I opted to use a clean lubricant (Triflow) as a light duty solvent/cleaner instead of spraying Cleanstreak degreaser or brake clean all over and inhaling it for a while.
