Hi DIY Fans !
Many home or living spaces are open plan and sometimes you need to zone a space, separate a Dining from a TV room or a home office/ study section of a room.
So I decided to DIY a Wood salt room divider, to give separation to the different living areas, with out closing it off or making it look darker and smaller.
Follow my "how to" steps and you can create one for yourself at home.
Enjoy the video and let me know if you have any questions.

Keep Smiling and DIY'ing !

How do you secure it to the wall? That would help

I ended up using stabilizing brackets, and drilled them in the floor, like I would drill into wall, then drilled the side of bracket into the divider... I also used the furniture ( back of sofa) to help stabilize it into final position. Hope this helps.

Beautiful divider. You make it look too easy. Thanks for sharing. I am looking to make a lighter weight divider similar to that style and it can also fold up if I need it to. The one you made is super heavy (all those 2x2s - i'm just a little tiny woman, lol ) and not portable.

Sorry I missed this comment for so long! Nooo I'm only little too.. Hehe 5"2 in height... Byt you be surprised what you can lift Haha... Yes this wood was thicker.. And yuu could definitely make a similar one with thinner ( lighter) wood 😀🙏😊 let me know if you ended up doing so! 🙌🏻

Remember you can adapt what I did in this video with thin wood planks and the concept of putting it together is the same :-)

If you wet the back side of the one very bent vertical slat it will eventually move and become straight.
@diywithelle4491
@diywithelle4491 2 года назад
Thank you so much for that tip, yes that one was bent and I didn't have time to go get a new one... but next time I will try the wet water trick 🙂

@@diywithelle4491 no worries! Great job! you can do it in situ, few times a day get a wet cloth and wipe the side you wish to move it to and it will slowly swell and move

Dear Elle, how far the pieces are from eachother? I mean the width of the dividing piece of wood? Thank you a lot!!!🙏🙂☺️

Great job! Did you glue the woods or did you screw them onto the ceiling and floor?

Hi elle what's the best way to add hinges so the panels open and close up?
@diywithelle4491
@diywithelle4491 Год назад
Hi Morwadi I didn't add this option in this DIY project ,as the panels were fixed with screws, but at the top of my head if I were you I would look into bolts on either end , to allows for side movement and while fixing it into position.. hope that helps !

Hey Elle, what wood type and thickness do you use
@diywithelle4491
@diywithelle4491 Год назад

@@diywithelle4491 Hi, it's a great work you did that a lot of people, like me, want to have as a contemporary style divider. Thanks for the instructions. Quick question, what type of wood did you use? Seems like pine wood? Is it not going to bend\deform over time even with room temperature? Thanks a lot in advance.

No need to fill in screw holes with filler cauae they are not visible
@diywithelle4491

Each to their own, I prefer to in case I use it in a different space or orientation or something else one day - But you right if not visible then yes no need to cover.
