This is a video of a professional boat builder, building a traditional boat. There is nothing DIY about it. It is interesting to see how a traditional boat is built, but I do wonder what they used before band saws were available.

Judging by the way he is using/abusing the Hitachi drill, the silver/black one, I would buy one of those in a heartbeat !! But I think the boat is great !

se estas tábuas da lateral fosse colocadas traspassadas uma as outras ficaria mais forte, essa emenda na mesma direção fica fraco. abraços.

Внутри смолить нельзя ,надо просто покрасить ,можно масляной краской.Я вот так посмолил внутри и дно за 4 года начало гнить ,дерево должно просыхать внутри лодки ,а под коркой смолы оно гниет.

Прошу "мастера" , создателя лодки - прежде чем создавать и всему Миру показывать, являясь как- бы - "учителем" - внимательно изучить из чего состоит лодка и как ее собрать. Больно смотреть на глупый труд. Созданное будет в воде жить. Сколько лет проживет созданное ????? Где пропитка дерева ???.Какие соединения и какой набор ?? Прошу осознавать свои действия, т.к. вы олицетворяет верность примера сбора лодок.

Awesome work. I wish he'd used a different Sealant that kept the colour of wood though. It was painful watching him cover it in that bitumen like Sealant. I suppose needs must. Respect though

So much wrong with this.. I mean seriously how thick and heavy do you need a boat for a fish pond?? Screws that will rust and not even coated,,, seams of wood not staggered, Tar in a fish pond as in oil slick... Pine wood with all sorts of knots No keel or other stabilizing wood strip to keep it on line in the water.. etc. etc. I like screws very much and he did predrill whihc is great.. BUT if you don;t seal them or coat them they will rust even if non salt water... Just my opinion after being one of the best rail men in Norfolk area after being raised on a sailboat from 6 to 12 and sailing half way around the Earth m Hurricanes, Panama Canal, and so much more... But I've never built a boat for a pond, so perhaps I'm out of my league.

He generated a curve by bowing a batten between two fixed points. Nails, as it happens. Is that a reliably repeatable process? If you repeatedly constrain a batten at defined points and bow it at a defined point for a defined distance, are the resultant curves identical? Has anybody ever tested this?

I am a decent sailor and an accomplished woodworker who has designed and built several boats over the years. I can see why some are impressed - they are ignorant regarding stress that can be placed on watercraft except on calm water. Weakness is in the design because the wood structure has too many buttjoints. The lines are not smooth which will add resistance to motion. The sides are very vertical compared to the narrow bottom will make it unstable. Over all, a poor design. Plus, knotty pine softwood and no caulking?
