DIY Wooden Fork Spaghetti Server | Kitchen Fork Out of Wood | DIY kitchen Utensil

DIY wood fork, and any other kitchen carved wooden utensil is my new passion. It’s incredible what you can make by carving a piece of natural tree log. This video is about how to make a wooden fork to serve spaghetti. I cut in half the wooden tree log and then I drew a big fork shape to be able to cut it with the band saw. If you don’t have a band saw you can use a hand saw. Then I used a wood rasp to give exactly the preferred shape for my wooden carved fork. Carving a fork, spoon or any utensils can be done in so many different ways; you will need an axe, knife and a variety of chisels. Some wood utensils makers prefer to finish the wood with mineral oil or beeswax or any other sealant food safe product. Some others, like I 😁 , prefer to sand it multiple times with different grits of sandpaper to give a nice smooth finish. When your fork is finished and you have applied any oil (or just wet it with water) you will realise that is getting rough again; this is because you are “waking up” the wood fibres. For that reason the sanding combination must be wet and dry. After this process is done, give the wood fork time to dry natural and then apply mineral oil. After a while it will get dry as the carved fork is absorbing the oil. Repeat two or three times. You’ve created something from nothing that is so smooth and useful and the grain of wood looks spectacular. The teeth of the forks are called tines. The number of the tines and the shape of a fork qualifies the function. This fork has two tines and a big gap between them to be able to “catch” and serve the right amount of pasta spaghetti.
Be creative and I would like to wish you... happy crafting on whatever you make!
