Seems handy especially for a shared/smaller space like you said. You've made a lot of portable stuff over the years 😁 love the positive vibes you're sending out too Glenn! Keep up the great work, take care mate 🇦🇺💜 PS. The fan is an awesome idea!
I like the workbenche and the only change that I would make, if I made it for myself, would be to support the top with knee braces and cut off the 2×4 front supports. I don't know about you but my elbows always seem to find something to bang against.
It is a great bench for doing electronic projects but for wood work, it may be too small especially the posts can limited the sizes of the work pieces. But honestly it is a great work station, I have to say.
Don't like the front side upper arm support, I might have made a 45" Angle brace instead. However, since there in place consider incorporating a small painter booth with ventilation onside or the other!!! Otherwise, the project Rock's in typical fashion....
Unlike most channels that mostly just show 'beautiful close-ups' of wood being cut, you actually explain what you're doing and why. Much appreciated 👍.
That's so true ... there's really no point looking at a "beautiful" composed shot of someone cutting wood on a table saw with shallow DOF etc. It's not a movie :p Meanwhile here you get actual tips you're that are going to allow you to make something better.
I recently watched a video that had multiple wood cutting montages just as you describe, the longest was just over a minute and the whole video was 12 minutes. I think that by the end, once you add all the montages up 1/4 of the video was wood cutting montages.
Yes, a small detail, but really improves the content. "Devil is in the details", not just in the project itself, but in the video presentation as well.
This is the first time I have seen DIY Creators and I can tell you that, as a woodworker, I love everything about it! No long-winded bullshit, and the "fast" on the video makes it pleasant to watch and not a chore. He clearly shows how things are done and the little graphic in the corner shows you where it is being done. Without being "preachy," he shows you how to use squares (and which ones to use) and clamps. I also learned something new! I had never seen threaded inserts and from now on, will make sure to use those when appropriate. Thanks for the great video! And I love that workbench.
I'm not one for subscribing to people on RU-vid but he definitely earned my subscription. His creations are great and he explains everything perfectly.
Can we get both of you guys, 731 woodworks, Jonathan katzmoses, John malecki, and whoever else to go to the modern ranch and do like a build off with that gang! That would be epic.
Had completely overlooked how important it is to have a work space that you actually want to work in. Aesthetics make all the difference, thanks for the inspiration!
It's exactly what I needed. The possibilities are endless. The fan was my favorite. Now it just needs a mini fridge. Not a suggestion, but please feel free to incorporate it. But as always, thank you for another great project! Much appreciated.
This guy is incredible. Companies need to work with him to design stuff he has an amazing sense of design. Every project he builds is incredible. Maybe put him on an episode of this old House
Real NICE. A workbench that is different & functional. I was looking for a workbench to build. No other had a light on top. Great. Will be ordering the plans.
The fact that you have the "where I'm at" thing at the top right corner is really one of the best things in DIY videos! I wish more content creators would include this in their videos!
You sir are by far one of my favorite makers on RU-vid. Maybe a built in fridge at the bottom to keep drinks and food cold, hang a tv opposite the fan, built in headrest for laying down. I’m kidding. Great build, sleek design. I love it
Great bench design, light and fan are a lot more useful than you'd think. Want to get fancier? You could add some t-track, dog holes, maybe some drawers, a vice. Sky is the limit.
Showing off all them push ups haha Love the simple yet fancy design. It's a shame lumber prices are so insane. Watching this makes me think of something similar, but with larger casters for a simpler time moving it out into the yard. Not all projects can get to the shop, but a nice work surface can be used plenty. Excellent video as always. Hope everything is well on your end.
What are you talking about? At most he has a garage with room for 2 cars, wich is a standard garage in norway or anywhere else. Most contractors can build a 2-3 car garage no problem. There is no limit for how big your garage can be?
That is possibly the best DIY workbench I've ever seen. Practical & portable. Also, your narration and NO annoying music made for enjoyable watching. Keep up the good work.
Whenever I watch videos like this, it always blows my mind how different other people think and how other people envision and build things. I would have done this totally different. I love being able to see how other people out things together in their heads. It's so interesting to me. Nice job
How did you know I've been dreaming of this project?! You dropped this video right on time, OMG. I love the step-by-step you displayed through the entire video. Thank you for the explanations of 'why' you deviated from plan and the rationale. I really like that you're using one type of wood (2x4) in the project. Your work environment is clean and your presentation is professional throughout. This worktable was exactly what I've been thinking about doing. Now I have an excuse to get myself more tools, namely a miter saw, the Parker jig (for the right-angle joints) and that DeWalt right-angle extension for the drill(?) or impact driver. Luckily I recently bought those because the sale at the store was too good to pass up and...well, I needed a new cordless drill. Great job and I'm not changing the design. It works well from what I see!
Great job! This is awesome!!! Watched with my son and he was mesmerized. I think he may have the building bug. Thinking about getting a speaker kit. Thank you for sharing!!!
Your hands are blessed by God, everything you touch turns into gold. You remember me of my father who was also one of the best carpenters in town. But he died 14 years ago at a young age. BTW, I like how clean you work! ....Best wishes from Eastern Europe!
It never occurred to me that I should build a level ABOVE me! The light, fan, and outlet are genius! The seating idea too. I want to do this, but I need to figure out how to create the tabletop overhang first. Thanks, and nice work!
I’m building 2 simple work benches for my shop today (one general purpose, one for electronics). Now I have workbench envy! Thanks a lot! 😫😆 Amazing build, as always! 👍🏻
Look at this guy .. fancy RU-vidr able to afford 2x4's in this day and age. :) Very nice project. I'm redoing my entire garage around density and mobility, so inspiration is always welcome.
I love it! So well thought out and built. My only suggestion is to put a coat of finish or something on that bottom front edge. I sit at my work table as well and rest my feet on it and after a while it gets filthy. A little finish will make cleaning it nice and easy!
Very NICE Glenn! I love the design. When the wife and I move down south... well... FURTHER down south to our retirement home, I'll be building something along the lines of this one. THANKS!!
Nice job whats not to like about a solid mobile workbench. As a Sparky myself I especially liked the incorporation of Led lights and power outlets and the 360 rotating fan is a nice touch.
That's a pretty smart idea instead of moving the bench to the light move the light to the bench. Would have never thought about making a top to hold a light pretty great idea.
Glen, this build is incredible! I've build a couple rolling work benches, but I've never thought of having a built-in roof for lighting and a fan! You're a genius! And you're pushing close to 3 million subs! I remember back when you only had 40k!
add ons: mechanical pencil sharpener cup for pencils/pens hooks/mounts for most often needed small tools, like ruler, common hand tools metal handles on either side to grasp while moving Good job!
I love the general use workbench! What I really love is the way you presented the information in the video. The "WHERE I AM AT" overlays were helpful. I'm shocked I don't see more people using that presentation technique after seeing how helpful it is and how great it looks. I also liked the jokes. You remember to mention things that might be something a person would ask about - mentioning that your design changed over time based on material availability, or because you liked the look, etc. It's easy to tell that you scripted the video, which I think is great and is most likely why you were able to add thoughtful commentary. One thing that might sound good is if you record the audio as if you're talking to a wife or girlfriend (or both - not judging). That way you'll sound like you're more relaxed and natural. Your videos and designs are great - I love the channel!
Great idea for real my garage is 1/2 mine and 1/2 my wife’s…so a mobile bench may fit my needs….I always love your content! You explanations of what your doing is monumental to a beginner like myself!!!
I really like the black slats in the base. Though, if cost permitted, I'd have placed a sheet of toughened glass on top of the slats. That way things don't fall through the gaps, and you can still appreciate the aesthetics of the slats.
Cool bench!! The only thing I’d add would be a car stereo. I’d use a car stereo because they are modular and if you really wanted to pump out, add a flip down monitor. If that’s too far, add a google home and wifi switch for the lights and fan
But what if you don't know how to trade any of these? I mean, I see your point. Some people have the money and are willing to invest. But the problem is where to
Wow, I knowMr Oscar Anderson. I met him at a conference in Florida last year where he introduced us to his platform. I even just withdrew $20k from the $13k I invested last week.
Great video. Love the explanations, listening to your thought process, and the "Where I'm at" photo. Pretty straight forward build and not too scary for a beginner.
Man! The more I look into this (plans, product list, video instruction), the more impressed and happy I get! You REALLY ROCK! So versatile of a project, too!!!
Great video! I like the versatility, it seems easy to modify and that is very useful. I plan to build a version of this for my simple mid-sized CNC machine. I'll put plexiglass sides on the upper portion, held in a simple frame by magnets. That will make for easy panel removal when I need full access, while reducing mess and noise when I run the CNC. Thanks very much for the great concept and build demo!
I just found your channel. Wow! What clean designs and as a experienced beginner they aren't too intimidating to build. Great plans and very clear instructions. Thanks!
Absolutely love the "Where I am At" 3d graphic that pops up in corner. Makes vid easier to digest and just looks very professional. Not sure if you came up with it or got idea from another, but it's first time I've see it and I love! Also love how organized your supply list and plans are, although I subscribed awhile ago, for some reason I hadn't utilized your channel much but I'm making your channel the 1st place I check now for plan ideas. Awesome vid and awesome plans - I'm planning on incorporating your workbench into my build this week. Thanks for great vid
