A quick overview of the roof racks I have on my X. They're simple, cheap, robust, and very sturdy. To me, the Nissan stock cross bars are not useable, so I set out to change that.
With these, you can mount anything you want to the top of the X with simple hardware from your local headwear store.

Awesome video! Saved my day seeing this. I have a 2023 pathfinder rock creek with the tubular rack and I couldn't fit my roof box since the cross bars were wider then the mounting bolts for the box. Looks like this is my fix! Thanks

Loved the video. One thing though, that is not electrical conduit, those are strut channels. Conduit would be the piping (tube)

Hello! Thanks so much for posting this. I bought a Naturenest RTT which will arrive in four days. I just ordered the clamps which you provided the link for. My question is about the width I would cut the strut channels? The tent is 51" in width but I am mussing over this... do not want them to stick out at eye level if the tent is off for the winter!

This rack works and looks better than any of the commercially available options. You can purchase prepainted super struts from Grainger. They also come in 304 stainless steel. You can also get them solid without all of the predrilled slots. Do yourself a favor and use a step drill bit for drilling the holes. Nice mod. Thanks for posting this. I am wondering, do you think this could be flipped so the u bolts face downwards, such that the crossbars end up as close to the roof as possible (obviously with bolts being flush cut with the nut)? Reason being is I was thinking it would be cool to have a cheap harbor freight pelican style rifle case mounted up there for extra storage, but would want it as flush as possible with wet box to maintain what little mpgs I get.

Yes. it is possible, and looks damn good inverted like that. only drawbacks of inverting it like you speak of is ease of installation. it's hard to get tools below the crossbars. but if you have a slim set of tools, or if you use hardware that doesn't require access from the bottom, then you should be golden.

They are called superstruts. See if another of your hardwear places have them.

It’s not called conduit. It’s called “strut”. Conduit is round metal tubing.... Hope that helps. Great video :)

will it hold cargo box? I was at home depot today cuz the ubolts arrived. They had a 10 ft superstrut and a 2 ft superstrut but I need 38 to 39 inches to go across the xterra...did you cut these? or will home depot cut them for you like they do the wood? 4

I purchased a 12 foot and cut it at home. But a hardware store might be able to cut it for you. Would recommend going ar least 40in across, but you could even go wider if you want to mount an awning or something on the side

@@Down2Fly Thank you for responding. I had the guys next door doing construction cut it for me. I had the wrong length the first time (39" cut and needed 42" cut) and had to have them cut it twice for me. I put a huge cargo box on. Works great and the parts came in right away. Great service from the company you listed for purchasing the Ubolts. I just returned from a 2 week camping trip up the HWY 1 coast. The crossbars allowed me to put a cargo box on top and save so much room. I was able to build a platform for me to sleep on.
