That is some impressive work on what looks to be quite a daunting project! This team has made an enormous contribution to the sport and to the generosity so celebrated in its culture. They are among the many who do not think twice about helping riders at the beach who are enthusiastic and eager to learn the surf. Much love, respect, and gratitude boys!

Excellent video here, incredibly informative. I’m impressed by all the small details you guys added. My brother from Kalamazoo hooked it up on my ski and we went just over 24 inches with our wide tray. However, it took over two years to complete as we move the edges out beyond the bond rail. I’m currently putting a fixed steer hood on it and once I am finished, I will make a video and share it here.. or in my channel

@RSKI
@RSKI 2 года назад
Yikes! Hopefully you can get it back soon! We have used Jetmaniac “Blue” ported cylinders in the past, but our current skis are oem stock cylinders with no additional porting work done to them. Highspeed industries has also been a great resource for us and they are usually very quick.

Great video and nice work. Were you concerned at all about changing the angle on the exhaust tube? Looks like the 3" drop was considerable, and was wondering if water can now backflow into the engine. Thanks
@RSKI
@RSKI Год назад
Hi Dave, with the engine off the ski does sit in the water differently since the exhaust tube fills with water more than normal. Haven’t had any issues at all though

Are there any types of low profile wide tray footholds that would work with this?
@RSKI
@RSKI 2 года назад
Possibly, I remember the BOB adjustable foothold kit I saw many years ago, that might work but we haven’t tried that. We really like the foot straps in the surf. I bet you could make your own kit though!

Could I use carbon fiber instead or of fiberglass
@RSKI

Ya, although I’d just use one layer of carbon on top to cover the glass for the look you want. Carbon Kevlar has the coolest look.

I was waiting for this video to come out! Great stuff. I am currently refoaming my waterlogged tray on my rockered super jet, totally new to the fiberglass world but have good friends who are helping out. Do you guys know how many cubic feet the widened tray is (for foam calc)? Also, can the 920FS Marine sealer be used on water lines iside/outside of the tray? Is that better than the 5200? Many thanks!
@RSKI
@RSKI 2 года назад
Hi Ivan, sorry it took so long for this video. It was filmed over a several month period and a bunch of different jetskis, some of the skis didn't even make it into this video. I think we finished four different wide trays during this time, and we're still finishing one more. This video edit was brutal! Happy you enjoyed it! As far as ft^3 of the tray, we just estimated it, and if you're short just mix up more. I think we had two pours to get the tray full on the black one, and I didn't write down the amounts for that unfortunately. We did use the 920FS to seal the water lines and everything, I think 5200 would probably work fine too. Cheers!

What is the product you put on the tray on your urethane to "seal it" before install your 1st fiberglass sheet ? i review many time your video to catch it but not sure the product... i hear you take epoxy but want to no what kind of epoxy you take. thx a lot for your comeback !
@RSKI
@RSKI Год назад
We use the the same epoxy resin used in the fiberglass process to seal the foam. I like to add thickener to help fill the voids in the foam and make everything nice and smooth before the first layer of fiberglass goes down. I should also note that you do not need to wait for this to cure before you start fiberglass, but I do recommend an epoxy with a medium cure rate because it can get fairly thick in certain situations.
@WilliamMcFly

any chance you can give me some product names/ information that you need/recommend for doing fibreglass work? I can never seem to find anything online about specific products and Ontario doesn't seem to have the same selection as the states. on another note, my SN has the top deck and bottom deck seam separating on both sides of the tray. I have tried to just seal it but water just peels it out. any chance you know where to find longer bolts (that look stock) for the black bumper/trim so I could try sealing it and through bolting the top and bottom decks together? kinda wanna solve this issue before I rip the tray out and re-foam it. (if I ever gain the will to cut up a virgin tray just to save some weight in waterlogged foam)
@RSKI
@RSKI 2 года назад
Hey Nick, there are some links in the description for you to get started. Does that help in Ontario? Most of the stuff can be purchased from Fiberglass Warehouse. As far as the top and bottom deck separating, I’d just completely separate them clean out all of the glue. I think the OEM glue is called Plexus. This would be a ton of work, and then reinforce everything and it’ll last a really long time. But a ton of work for sure.
@nickdean8758
@nickdean8758 2 года назад
@@RSKI I guess I should have looked at the description... definitely helps big time even just to know what I need to look for. from what I have read about separating usually the top or bottom deck will break in the process (if I'm remembering correctly) so ill probably just try to band-aid it until I end up cutting the tray out to refoam and add footholds. definitely not worth it (for me at least) right before the season starts lol. Thank you for all the info, appreciate it.
@RSKI
@RSKI 2 года назад
Breaking is definitely a possibility, I’ve never tried to separate them actually. But one of our friends has successfully done it. He actually put a round nose top deck on a square nose bottom deck and it worked perfectly. 🤣
@nickdean8758
@nickdean8758 2 года назад
@@RSKI yeah I know jetski brothers have done it, (SN top on RN bottom) but they seem to be wizards and make the craziest stuff work.
@RSKI
@RSKI 2 года назад
I think the bulkhead would be the main obstacle. I imagine you’d want to keep the bulkhead attached to the bottom deck, and disconnect the bulkhead connection to the top deck.

@protorail7 2 года назад
Great video! Can't wait to wide tray my square nose and this video helps a ton. How much resin would you guys recommend buying to do wide tray and foot holds on one ski?
@RSKI
@RSKI 2 года назад
A wide tray and foot straps can definitely be done with a one gallon kit and still have a lot left over. I don’t have exact amounts as we just buy it by the gallon.
@kellyrides429

How did you seal up the holes were the rivets were for the exhaust?
@RSKI

You’ll want to use thickened epoxy and fiberglass from the inside. I usually do these at the same time that I fill the holes in the bulkhead.
