The object is to scramble the four rings by rotating them, and then try to solve and get the original picture back. The four rings are connected by gears. The teeth numbers are inside-to-outside 35:(14):63:(6):75. As all pairs of gears have common divisors (5x7, 3x3x7, 3x5x5), one cannot solve the puzzle by just continuously pushing one gear. The picture on this prototype was made from profile photos of José and Oskar. When you 3D print this, you can print your own photo onto the puzzle.

My first thought was that it was supposed to be Trump and Putin. I then saw that someone else said the same thing, but immediately retracted it. Am I missing something? I don't want to offend anyone, but it really looks like them to me.

I does resemble them a little, but also the one on the right could be a profile of Oskar, the one on the left i don't know, but if I imagine it as a younger person (younger than trump) I could imagine a few RU-vidrs that could fit that profile

Okay, This is Genius, the puzzle is awesome and so is the question about the shapes. That said, I do like how thin the puzzle is yet still having gears inside of it, anything with gears is awesome to me, I still own the Gear-Ball you made years ago, awesome puzzle.

Oskar - Have you seen what James Bruton has done to 3D print motor drives for his OpenDog project - He uses cycloidal gear drives. I wonder if you could make a puzzle with this idea?

Yes, I have seen that. As you may know, my RU-vid channel also has quite a few gear drives, albeit mostly useless ones. And I have several geared puzzles that use planetary gears, including Dizzy Disk.
