As black artists, we can take the lead and work with our community to grow our brand and businesses The next most important thing for an artist or business owner to do is trademark their stage name, copyright each and every song, and patent any product that is made by the artist. Every artist should have an EIN number and structure themselves as an LLC, C-Corp, or S-Corp depending on what is best based on their business attorney's legal advisement. When younger or new artists start, they need to get life insurance on themselves starting with $ 1 million, and acquire different types of additional insurance. Also, artists need to make sure they have health insurance. I know this a lot. Nobody will be responsible for you but you.
