DJ Hell first started DJing back in 1978. For 30 years, the man has never shown any signs of slowing down - cementing his reputation as one of dance music's most persistent provocateurs. Regularly playing at Berlin clubs such as Tresor and E-Work when they were at their counter-cultural peak and has touched every corner of the globe with his profound musical influence. The set is nice, the title is misleading however. The set is not exactly my definition of "dark". Check out his Tresor, Berlin set - that is dark.

@Selfspot Dark Techno is not only a description of some sorts of Techno. It has become an independent genre. For good examples Check Out d.n.s, noCure, deKai, SNTS, and many more

As usual Mixmag totally messes it up. This is, as mentioned, melodic Techno (and quite lightweight at that) not Dark Techno. Even after all this time Mixmag still needs staff who actually know what the music actually is?

Yes Dark Techno is not HardTechno Drak Techno is Dark Techno but this Set is not Dark Techno its Melodic Techno or whatever. You can see the difference between Dark Techno and HardTechno on my channel. The perfect answer for the ignorance Hail Satan 🤘🏻

@edemaximclub I'd entirely disagree with that, but that's primarily because I mixed dnb for years and I find mixing with the snare sounds (so midrange) much more intuitive, with the bass response just kind of supporting that sound. What I meant moreso is, dropping big $ on a DJ setup involves good quality DJ headphones, and I challenge anyone to describe beats in this fashion.

Right I’m 45 years old and I’ve attended more events and clubs than I care to remember. Been over the world and seen all the big names since the 80s..... this ain’t “dark” techno..... too many high frequencies. I’m convinced MixMag employee millennials now who don’t have a fucking clue. Their idea of a good club night includes a Craig David remix and a drive home by 11pm in their white A Class Merc because the club has ran out of Blueberry flavoured Gin.

46:00 why is the crowd so lame? I remember Solomun playing this song at Pacha Ibiza, and everyone went nuts people cheering and screaming over the music. Dj Hell's such a good DJ too. Seems like none of the people there really ppreciate the music. :(

This is just progressive and melodic house. It's just more on the heavier tone side. If you like this I'd recommend the Balkan connection label. I play this stuff on my mixcloud page. Little bit of a miss label on the genre being played but great set! DJ Hell has been in the game for as long as I can remember.
