Jin got dragged not only by the k media, gp, antis but also all the solos... constantly. Mans being thrown enlistment questions ever since he was 25😒 his original goodbye was supposed to be life goes on (watch the mv, you'll understand) but he's had to endure this constant bullying just for the sake of the members and the fans🥺 What a gem of a person❤️‍🩹🥹

I agree with everything but the lgo mv thing,it wasn't about enlistment but pandemic as they repeatedly told us so please refrain from speculating Seokjin only said that they thought about enlisting around/after that era,nothing about MV

@@alinazaynab7347 the song was about the pandemic but the mv hints towards a goodbye. I won't elaborate much but there are explanation threads you can refer to (they were made when the mv was released) Side note- bts has done this before plenty of times. For eg., Spring day song is about missing a friend but the mv is about the Seoul ferry tragedy.

Argentinean army here, we still can't believe Seokjin came to our country. It felt like a dream, and it still feels like it. I was lucky and somehow I bought a ticket for that day (28th) and went to the concert. The streets were filled with ARMYs (how did I recognize them? They were wearing purple and/or were carrying banners, BT21, etc) and so was the stadium. When My Universe started, we were SCREAMING that song, and when Seokjin was finally on stage, the screams were INSANE. We were all singing The Astronaut and when the song ended we started to say "Kim Seokjin" until he left! The audio from the vids it's nothing compared to how loud it was. That day was out of this world. If any of you have a chance to go to a Coldplay's concert, do it. You will not regret it at all. It's absolutely beautiful!

I will wait for your comeback Seokjin! Saranghamnida! Borahae!

Jin's live made it clear that they weren't being dependent on the government so I'm still having hopes for one too many diss tracks and hard hitting songs in their upcoming albums. That was the first time I've seen Jin as THE MAKNAE on the stage. I don't know why that made me so emotional lol. He did well on that song. His low register is literally music to my ears. Aside from his voice, good looks 😎 & funny personality the thing I love about Jin is his sensibility. When talking about serious stuff this BTS hyung's intelligence and smarts shows. Agree on the short sightedness! They bring much more to the country while working outside the army compared to what they can do as a single soldier. Not only to promote the Korean culture, but to the economy literally! I remember reading an article a few years back that BTS as a group contributes about 1% to the country's total GDP. And this was before Butter and Grammys, so imagine how much more they are bringing in now

It was such a tremendously satisfying reaction to watch. First the emotional bit with Jin performing with Coldplay, and then seeing Namjoon going into an intense philosophical discussion over music writing process with Phil. I have said it many times and I say it again, intellect and polished wisdom with carefully selected words in anybody´s expression can be such a satisfying and sexy trait. Namjoon is sharp, slick and classy as heck, wow. What a delight to listen to him. Also, is it only me, but he looks particularly handsome in this interview. I am so happy Jin had an opportunity to sing his song with Chris and when he started to run towards him I l literally broke down in tears. Thats what you look for in any honest, mature, genuine musical interaction between two world mega stars - its heartwarming, touching and uplifting. I also adored Chris´ speech, it shows his enormous heart and humility. When he spoke of BTS and intentionally slowed down to accentuate their name I had to smile ( a direct dig at Derulo, lol). Chris is a boss. A great react, thanks Jino.

Jino, I can not thank you enough for your regular real time translations of communications from Bangtan. And this time, for Jin's very dense, intense, and so so important communication to ARMYs. (Due to the whole military situation and how their own government and shareholders have behaved around this). We have wonderful army (pun intended) of volunteer translators who are invaulable to us. But your real time translations have added dimensions to the many written ones which versions we often combined to obtain a 3D understanding of whatever was being said. Yours certainly added at least one dimension, making it 4D, and your own reactions to them make it 5D. Gamsahabnida!

What BTS has done is given South Korea an individual face. Seven faces. Because of BTS, people in many countries are aware of SK and have a perceived invested interest in the country. That is more of a service to SK than having them go away for a couple years. It’s a public service to keep Korea in the forefront of the world’s mind.

It’s refreshing for a reactor to just be honest and not placate solo stans. Flying yoga wasn’t about how awesome any one member did, it was about fun and laughter. For me, I watch reactors I can learn something from. For instance, I knew I loved one members rap style but I couldn’t explain why. Watching rappers react I now understand why it appeals to me. Same for watching dancers, video producers, etc. I have learned so much so that I can appreciate BTS even more. I even appreciate constructive criticism. I’m a grown person who can listen and learn from others and then make my own opinions. I don’t need to force others to have my opinion. That is one of the main problems with social media… Trying to force your own opinions on others. Stay strong Jino and just be yourself.

My BTS debut story: After my mother died in February 2019, my brother's Filipino MIL turned me on to KDrama, CLOY, or Crash Landing on You to be exact. I stayed up days, then weeks, binge watching the drama over and over again. I watched it a dozen times or more. There was so much that related to my mother's life who was born in 1924 in East Germany and fled their war torn Silesia (now Poland) learning new things and ways of survival (foresting for food, sleeping with snow on them while being awakened by bomb dropping planes above them) finally landing in West Germany, a foreign land eventually being cut off permanently from the rest of their family when the Wall was built. She never saw her father (he died) and her brother again. Crash Landing On You kept me close to my mother even though she was physically no more. Then the next series that was suggested on Netflix was Boys Over Flowers, a far cry from CLOY but the KDrama that is credited for catapulting KDrama to the Western World. I liked the music and thought maybe one or more of the actors were the actual singers/songwriters, so I looked them up becoming a fan of Kim Jeong Hyun. Suddenly on RU-vid, I was getting recommendations for BTS. (Prior to this, I had never used RU-vid, no need). And the rest is history, I went down the rabbit hole studying the where, the how, the why of BTS and marvelling at it all. BTS saved me from crippling depression and helped answer many of the questions I had about the final decades of own life. And I regretted not knowing them from their debut but felt relieved when Suga once said, the day you discovered us was the day we debuted for you. I had heard of BTS once before briefly in 2013 but my life was in turmoil at the time and I wasn't watching TV or listening to music at that time and I had never heard about them again. And for me, from the beginning there was talk of going to the military, the anticipation, the worries, what will happen to Armies (I wrote once, don't worry, it will take more than 2 years to review ALL their content. (I still haven't). I remember reading on the then BigHit company website that all of BTS would enter the military end of 2022. I got blasted by older Armies saying I didn't know what I was talking about. And I couldn't find the quote again to back it up and kept silent. So to those Armies who picked on me, I say "BOOYAH" and "Nana nana boo boo". What did you think? If BTS went in one by one according to their 30th birthday, it would be 10 years, a whole fucking decade before they could come together again. Going in together or nearly together makes the most economical and fandom sense. BigHit, now HYBE, has to answer to their shareholders. Let's support them all to the fullest and patiently wait for them. And stop upsetting them with all Armies whining.
@HailToTheMeep
@HailToTheMeep Год назад
What an amazing story! Thank you so much for sharing! Shareholders are now nagging HYBE for JK to enlist closest to his 30th birthday. In 2027 😵‍💫 So he can hold the banner for that BTS brand shareholders love so much for the money it is making them. They don't care about BTS as a group, their music, their fans, or music at all.

They hate on BTS to try to bring them down a notch or two. Jealousy builds and grows toward people who are at the top and in the spotlight too long. People like to cast stones at good and successful people out of jealousy. That fact that BTS pretty much stays quiet about most things/issues/hate, makes haters even more upset, because they can't get a reaction or a rise from their targets, which would be used to push a narrative that their targets are actually not so great.

I know that I am American and prob would be told that I don't understand but I was raised to believe that service to one's country is something of the highest regard. I agree wholeheartedly with what you said. I am also ARMY and some may say I am biased but I can look at this from outside the box and see that BTS has done SO MUCH for their country already... who is to say they HAVE to go? Just like you said, the silver medal gymnast gets an exemption but that gymnast didn't bring in more tourism, more interest in the culture, or nearly as much economic status to SK as BTS. And sure you can say "well artists before them that were impactful on the country served their time (G-Dragon for example)" but as popular as Big Bang is/was even they didn't get songs on the mainstream US radio. (No hate... Big Bang and 2NE1 got me into K-Pop a long time ago so I have great reverence for them.) You don't have to be an ARMY to see that it really isn't fair.

They’ve always said that when they’re called they will happily fulfill their military duties. They never said they don’t want to do it or requested to be exempted. NOW since someone from the government proposed them getting exemptions are great but if it wasn’t taken into media since it was a just proposal and not yet a done deal. they should have not mentioned anything to the media and we can just all speculate and rumors can spread about the exemption but until it has been finalized that there’s a decision about granting them an exemption they should have just dealt it within the officials handling this. They should have not dragged them into the media dragging, also taking publics opinion into a poll. Regardless of the public’s opinion, they’re the ones seated and should do the job on this matters not taking majorities opinion to make decisions. They should base it on their accomplishments and contributions in SK, the soft power they provided. Then make a decision then take it to media. But Until a decision is finalized granting them the exemption they should have not made false hopes by publicizing it. Then BTS would have not been hated too much calling them names and all that. But then again they want to abuse BTS by using them and dragging this enlistment talks to where they’ll benefit. Although i really think they should have been eligible for the exemption. They should have been granted that after all they have contributed to SK. And they should seriously stop using them, they’re kpop idols who wants their voices be heard who hopes to make some changes and provide comfort through their music. They don’t work in the government. They’re simply doing what they can through music. So if they’re really grateful for what BTS had contributed for their country (the great impact they had in millions of people never occurred to this extent. They never thought it would be to this extent) they should grant them the exemption.

Jino, what makes someone an Army? To me, you don’t have to fallow them blindly. You don’t have to like all of their music. Have you developed high expectations for whatever works they create? Do you have some of their songs on your day to day playlists? Do you like doing reactions not only for their music videos but also for such videos as Run BTS? To me and probably to a big number of people that watch your content believe you are Army. 🤷‍♀️💜

(1) Exceptions have been, and are continuously BEING MADE in South Korea re mandatory military service, based on the criteria of upholding South Korea's position IN THE WORLD (2) THE WORLD has the right to give input (a) The eyes of the world are on BTS (b) BTS in the South Korean military (c) The eyes of the world will be on the South Korean military. Those who do not see (a) will not see (c). Good luck to those people with that.

Merry Chriztmas Jino!!! True about the South Korean govt and the military!!! I know the boysoves their country and very respectful....i hope come 2025, they will turn the table where it's their way or the highway. At least each one did their patriotic duty. Now, they can continue their strong bond with the ARMY and enjoy music as it should be: BTS AND AWESOME ARMY!!!

I’m glad they decided to go, to be an example for the other k-pop idols. I my self didn’t want them to go, but it was their decision and for the country. Hate to see them go 😢😢😢😢But if the government can’t make a decision and just using them for there own gain,that’s sad. We’ll wait for them. 😢😢

RE Jino's comment about the taxi driver's sentiments about no exemption for BTS... (yes, patriarchy plays a big part too, IMO, hence the double standard for sports, ie. soccer players). The thing is, for the people outside of Korea, we see BTS's impact globally, bc we are literally abroad, seeing and living thru their impact in our respective countries, but not everyone in S. Korea are aware. The media constantly downplays BTS achievements (for competition, political, status quo, and whatever else reasons), so naturally most of the general public doesn't SENSE the SCALE that is BTS. Sure, they've heard that BTS is famous overseas, but few from the general public can really fathom how much of an impact they have already started globally, particularly in the western civilizations. **************************** ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PFIlIzEn5Go.html Starts at 46:05 section. Music critic / PhD in Ethnomusicology, talks about the BTS phenomenon (it was after BTS got their 1st Grammy nomination for Dynamite) with a political Journalist (his show, the weird hair guy, what ARMYs ended up calling him), discussing how much influence and what their Grammy nomination meant in the industry or even the country culturally, and that bc BTS didn't owe any "systems" and the status quo any favors bc they became prominent without them (hence why RM gave 50% of their success to ARMYs at the PTD LA press conference) that they got unfair treatment within their own home country, not really recognizing their value. During the Busan concert, thousands of ARMYs from all over the world flock into S. Korea then travel to Busan. I read so many ARMYs sharing their stories, witnessing locals shocked at the influx of people, like why suddenly so many foreigner, or comments like "is BTS really that popular?" It just shows you how much more the general public doesn't realize their impact. Hence, I think it isn't surprising that still a lot of the people in the country don't think they deserve the exemption (and personally, I think the government might be afraid of opening a precedent that would trigger thousands more kpop male idols now and down the line to also apply for exemption left and right... disclaimer, personal conspiracy theory, don't quote me). **************************** ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Uaj1X76h2mQ.html Humanities professor, talked about many different facets of the BTS phenomenon. Again, this was just off Dynamite's "explosive" release. She mentioned 1 important observations of the flow of entertainment and cultural content consumption. Historically (in modern times at least) it's usually from west to east. But now more and more from east to west, ie. S. Korea's Hallyu, kpop... BTS. It's a good whole 50 min episode, but really quite comprehensive, and flew by fast for me (come on, we're here with Jino's 2, 3, 4 hour long livestreams... hahaha...). 40:58 point, the older guy in yellow sweater and glasses, he asked, what will they do after they "retire"... they won't be idols forever, when they get married, stop working someday... etc. This is a reflection of how the "adults" view "idols." It's not meant to have longevity, hard to continue as idols, esp. a group, if one were to get married, and isn't quite viewed seriously as "artist" in the more highly regarded sense. The professor did answer that she thinks they'll be producing music for a long time. Which, off of the whole break/enlistment discussions since Festa (even before Festa actually), the members repeatedly said they want to be BTS for many more decades to come, even when they are Bangtan Papa or Grandpa. Which reminds me of another symptom some ARMYs observed. Since the direction of cultural influence had been west to east for so long... I mean, electronics and hardware consumer products, etc. the west knows of Asian dominance, but cultural Hallyu contents, soft-power type contents like foods languages, entertainment, I think it's harder to grasp how much it's been infiltrating into the west, especially that of BTS. Sometimes it's not all bc of ignorance or hatred or bias or jealousy, but for some people, maybe it's some sort of hidden inferiority complex over decades of western dominance and perceived superiority (I was born in the US, grew up in East Asia, but went to a western English speaking school there, lived and experienced phases of Japanese and US influences in Taiwanese and S. Korean societies' cultures, my generation to my grandparents generation), that people cannot believe or cannot imagine that a S. Korean entertainer, a kpop idol at that, can be THAT influential in the west. Not everyone in S. Korea focuses on "idol music" (which usually is perceived as a phase "kids" go thru, same with boy bands in the west, or those Disney child stars). It's one thing to see financial numbers on paper, but to physically experience that impact abroad, often it's just difficult to register in people's minds and understanding of the grandness of it all. I am in awe myself all the time, hence triggering me with these super long posts... ha! I remember when PTD LA happened in Nov/Dec '21, I secured tickets (phew!) and 1 of the shows I took a female friend + her 2 kids. The dad was like "alright, you guys have fun," but didn't think much of it, just let his wife and kids go have fun, no biggie. Until when time got closer, he started hearing from parents at kid's school and afterschool activities that so many people they know are also going, left and right, that it hit him more seriously like, wow, everyone knows BTS and are going, and hearing people they know that stood at the merch line for over 8 hours, etc. On the 4th night, I don't have tickets anymore ("cry"), but bought the livestream ticket and watched at their home, so the dad also joined. He saw how dedicated their performance was just from the 1st song ON already, and he was like, woah, all that sweat and breathing hard, they REALLY went all out and poured all their energy in the performance, that made him realize they're not just some stereotypical frivolous pretty boy idols that he imagined. The mom was understanding of pop music fan culture, having stanned Japanese SMAP in her earlier days (this gives away our age... hahaha!), and she actually saw a Michael Jackson show (a big deal!) on a world tour stop in Asia when she was a teenager, that she wanted to give her kids the experience of attending a show by a legendary performer, which in our current times, that legend is BTS. Ha!

If they're all going in at the same time they need to do a group video not live. I'm pretty sure their military is like the military in the US once you report 6 to 9 weeks a basic training there's no communication to anyone out outside of the military. Once they are in maybe in a couple of days release the video of the guys messages to the fans. Poor Jim being the oldest he's had to step out first if they're all going in at the same time the other guys haven't said a whole lot about it. Army needs to understand this is something they have to do it doesn't matter if we agree or not yes they will be missed but they will be back let them hear and see and text and video that army will always be here and we support them. Let them do this without regret and worrying about the fans. This is the time for them to mentally and physically decompress to have their mind focused on something else and when they come back it is going to be so spectacular there won't be a word for it. Best wishes and good luck guys we will see you on the other side.
