I was 11 when passed. I'm a Cincinnati dude who always will be bumpin' screw. Much love and respect to Screw. Shoutout To Houston,Texas All The Way From Cincinnati, Ohio 513 To The 713. 💯
I was 15 at the school house when we heard Screw passed… basketball practice was sad that day…shout out to all my Fort Bend hoopers… Rest in Paradise Screw ..I’m 38 and still keep a tape in rotation….
I was 16. I’m 38 now. My nigga Mook hit me up at my ainty house with the news. My heart dropped. Personally, I don’t think the Southern Houston rap scene been the same. I think Ro was one of the very few that held it down traditionally. Up until that day, the southside was holdin’. After that day, the northside took the f-ck over, and respectfully so, on some HTown sh-t. Slim Thug, Paul Wall, Chamillionaire, Mike Jones, Big Tike, etc… Everybody from the southside started beefing or dying or just simply lost that “comin’ dyne/Screwed up” spirit.
I was like 8 when screw pass I’m in my 30s still going hard for screw I don’t even listen to rap anymore but for damn sure I’m a keep it screwed up till my casket drops
S for slowing it down. C for cold creating. R stands for realer than real, and never hating. E forever lasting, effect never corrupt. W for the world, cause that's what he screwed up.
Man I was born in 2000 the same year he passed but I swear I got hooked on to his music when I heard spice 1 screwed & chopped and still til this day I bang screw. Rest In Paradise DJ Screw wishing you were here maneee

I went to Dickinson Jr. High in 1992 ,its south of Houston and a kid from Houston moved to our school and had a portable cassette player with head phones i ask him what you listening too he said a screw tape i was like what he said listnen to it i was like 12 years old and it was the first time i heard a screw tape. The bad ass part about the portable cassete player is the kid had something in that tape player that could slow down tapes so i would bring my bone thugs and harmony , too short and nwa tapes just to hear them slowed down . Never wokld imagine this would go worls wide . RIP DJ Screw.
I was in college man. One of my teammates and one of the most locked in non SUC members cause he had tapes I had never seen before was a dude named Justin Wiggins- All American 🏀 player from 3rd Ward, but played at Episcopal. We had a speech class together, he walked in visibly shaken and then shared it with me. I cried so hard man. His music truly changed my life.
42,From south Houston,Great job Donnie.I always heard this from some dudes in the past, but I wonder if it was true that after screw passed, somebody or some people went to his house and knocked down his walls for his money??? Rumor was he kept it there
The group of people who conspired to move Robert Davis out the way are definitely watching this. Retribution is coming! Righteous Anger will be swift and justified. That Ether dimension waiting for those individuals. R.i.p R.E.D.
I just wished his peers had the mindset to shake that drank back then and also help him to get back health i bet they regret not doing that the most til this day.
@hotcakesjubaby7300 it's facts this guy named buddy poisoned pimp put it in his drink pimps cousin talks about it on bobo luchiano podcast. Idk who's responsible for screw but they poisoned him too.
@Crip52Crazy I haven't seen him in over 10 and known him since round 98 and there is a backstop to our meeting at the kappa with Screw and I didn't care for him from the jump, I honestly feel like he only came around cause of being Screw kinfolk. He didn't have Screw best interest in mind and I peeped that from the first night we met.
When I think of Screw, I think of Houston as a whole and all of the artists that came from that era! It was nothing to hear Fat Pat, Lil O, and ALL OF THE H-TOWN legends being played in HEAVY ROTATION! Waco,Tx got MAJOR LOVE for the H! Sometimes, I'm stuck in that era!😢❤ 💯 RIP!!!
my favorite DJ...Dre is the best executive producer and creative director...J Dilla is a better equipment technician with sonics and soundscapes...DJ Paul and Juicy J are arguably the most influential hip-hop producers from the early 1990's of today...the inspiration of Prince Paul to Q-Tip to Pharrell Williams pipeline is real and should be talked about more often... Screw is THEE DJ mix DJ set DJ pre-set remixer and post-production engineer ever and of all the 90's and to infinity and it is no debate and end of story... ...DJ Screw is the best at that, he's better than all of them at that, just DJ remixing hour long sets with this and that his sets of Texas rap songs got a lot of good attention on smaller lesser known Texas artists because of the remixing and remastering he even made Eazy E, Geto Boys, and UGK sound cooler Probably the #1 DJ of the 90's
