This is the complete liveset of DJ Tiesto at Energy 2000, 31-12-1999 in The Netherlands, Eindhoven, Beursgebouw. It was a special party held by ID&T for the millennium new year's eve. Some people consider this set as Tijs Verwest's breakthrough as DJ Tiesto.
Many years ago I merged the two livesets creating one complete set. Due to low sound recording, I've added +2Db to the entire track.
To me this is the best liveset ever and when looking for it on RU-vid, I found some video's claiming to have the complete set, but none truly were. This one is the complete set! With the following tracks:

Just listened to Armin Van Buuren's Tomorrowland 2022... where has Trance gone? Modern 'trance' is crap compared to the golden age of 90's-00s ... its now all erratic beats and no long looping melodic synthesised trance goodness that is supposedly the foundation of trance! Reading all these comments is indescribable. After all these years, you all bring me back to that feeling the first time I heard it. This set saved my life, it changed my life in every way! To be connected with you all still, 20 years and so far away, never having met you in person, gives me such a deep visceral feeling of unity and hope! I have been having a hard time lately, with the world and my faith in it...I would like to think the love I feel right now is shared by all of you, if only for the simplest of reasons, and that this could be why we all were touched so viscerally by one specific point in time and space, to remember what we are, and how beautiful we once were and can be again! I downloaded this set off of Napster in college. Some random kid on my floor told me to check out Dj Tiesto, and after listening to the set I was just amazed. I started downloading any In Search of Sunrise sets, any Magick sets. I was absolutely addicted to his trance sets. I saw him play a live vinyl set in Chicago in 2002 and was just blown away. Since then, its been an absolute journey into trance music by the likes of Sasha, Digweed, JOC, PVD, ATB, Oakenfold,......but nothing and I mean nothing can come close to the nostalgiac feeling I get listening to this set and how it perfectly embodied the sense of opportunity and future I had in my life

I'm just wordless. As soon as I press "play", a huge shiver runs through my body and tears well up in my eyes. It's that powerful. This set changed my life. I remember exactly where I was when I first heard it. My passion for trance then grew exponentially. Tiesto will always be the greatest legend of my life, for this moment. Reading your comments drives me crazy! I'm so happy to see that this music - it's so much more than music - connects us all. I feel the love and the euphoria. Forever and ever. If I had to choose a song for my funeral, it would be from this set.

This set still kicks ass, the same way it kicked ass back then. The late 90's was THE era of awesome dance music! I still love listening to this today. Brings back good old memories from the late 90's when names like Ferry Corsten, Judge Jules, Tiesto, AVB, Talla 2XLC, Carl Cox, PvD ruled the dancefloor!

This is, quite literally, the set that got me into trance. I remember downloading it off Napster and then being just absolutely hooked to it. A music you could just let your mind drift off to and feel the energy of the music flow through you. I couldn't imagine seeing this live. I caught Tiesto only 2 times in my life and both were in the 2010s. He was more into his Big Room House sound, and while I actually like some of it, it definitely lacks that trance magic of the original Tiesto.

As a trancefan this trance classic set still grabs me by the balls, so timeless it is after 2 decades! in my opinion the best trance was made between 1997-2003, the time the dj's had to establish their names in the dancescene. once they did and when they belong to the big guys they had to reinvent themselves and the old trancesound was no longer there. its a shame, but there's nothing to do about it. love trance forever!!!

Like reading my thoughts. Oh man. I would extend it to a bit earlier but yes, after 2003 it went bad. Had a friend with a Peugeut 106 with an mp3 player (uncommon) then, and I would get the sets from tranceaddict and djmixes2k and we would just go club106. Their archive is one of the few things that I can't find. I loved more the sets from Paul Van Dyke. They were two particular sets from Nova969-Amnesia that were just incredible. Also can't find them.

It sucked as a young American, a majority of that time was pre Napster and torrents. I had to rely on message boards and the scraps available at the Virgin Megastore. Since Tiesto played in LA I'd imagine there was at least some club scene, but I was too young at the time to attend.

I added +6Db to the bass on my end, set the equalizer to powerful (raises the mid and highs) and cranked volume till things started to vibrate, unfortunately my neighbor threw a brick through my window so they could hear it better.

Back in the 90's people weren't filming everything on their phones and then immediately uploading it to Facebook/social media so no one give a fuck about what they were doing or how they were reacting to the music, people just let go of their inhibitions and just went into their trance-zone. Whereas today everyone thinks their Kim-fucking-Kardashian and is wired so fricking tight that they are too scared to relax as they're more worried about how they'll look on Facebook than they are of just having a good time. I would also hazard-a-guess that the music of today is reflective of that.

Yep - still on! The problem is - we are getting older - but we party the same music. My son - now 12 - is just wondering. He doesn't even know partys without cruelness or totally drunken people. We were drunk (my opinion), but we were not punching people without a less . Normaly Trance keeps together - today they didn't know any more. So raise your "old" legs - we keep this spirit alive! back to a time when Tiesto was nearing his peak, when the world wasnt so fucked up as it is now, a time where we could lose all our worries and stress by going to a club/festival and feel the music and hearts were in unison, a kind of bubble where strangers became friends, no one cared who you were or what your stance was on things but only that you were there experiencing a truly great time and every face had a smile..... and the disco biscuits actually were damn good too!

Times like that existed because life was simple now we have politics getting a hard on political correctness, attaching labels defining everything. When you really think about what's changed from late 90s to now is us more compliant just agreeable in general, these times were defined by culture what we as unison people created organically. Now these hi jackers shape culture like is plastercine... rant I know but a concern I've logically applied my thought. God bless our youth

Nearing his peak? This was only at the beginning of his career. He break through only a few months earlier with his Innercity 99 set in Amsterdam. But definitely, this is still one of his best sets ever.

Manual sequencing and altering of the sound board to get the effects with manual style adjustment and bpm conversion... That's what made the feeling organic. Not the digital shit that makes the sets "a show" these days. DJ's actually used to work for their millions.

Not saying I know better, trust me I don’t. But didn’t pioneer mixers which they were all using from that day have built in effects? Also, why would he need an 808 and a 909 when he’s just playing records? I’m not trying to prove anything wrong, again you probably know more I’m not saying you don’t and I’ve never researched or seen what tiesto has goin on with his decks. I just think doing all that would be redundant lmao

This set is just immense. Been following Tiesto for over a decade. Although I missed a lot of his early career because I wasn't old enough to go clubbing, I still managed to see plenty of amazing sets - 35 to be exact. So many amazing memories. Have not seen him in a while. That's not to say I wouldn't go anymore but I do wish he'd go back to these days. At the risk of sounding like an old person - those were the days!

I enjoy Tiesto and even saw him live back i 2001, and this is a great set, no doubt about that, but calling him the best dj ever, or this set the best ever is not true. Just check out Paul Oakenfold, Paul van Dyk or Judge Jules from around 1999-2001 to see that im right.

I agree this is one of the best live sets ever created. Thanks to Napster, my college roommates and I played this set obsessively back in Room 503 of Thurston Hall at The George Washington University, circa September 2000. Amazing. Our neighbors probably hated us because we played it to all hours of the night with strobe light and glow sticks to boot. Ah...good times.

First time I heard this was in 2000, so I must've been 11 or 12. It was just me, on summer break, after my parents had gone to bed. Somehow, I illegally downloaded the entire set on napster, and around the 6:00 mark, I knew this music would change me because tears streamed down my face. I remember being completely encapsulated by this energy of my past and of a future that was familiar but also unknown. It triggered a sense of nostalgia for a place I had never been. At 12 years old, this song was a treasure, a secret best friend. I could turn it on and be swept away into that sea of familiars and unknowns and be okay. And here I am, 19 years later. There's nothing more powerful than the legal drug that is music.
