@@stactionsmedia3318 "The gun left on the grave of his lover, Mercedez, symbolises the metaphorical death of his gunslinging days forever. He will never kill another person again, since now he has finally ended the life of the man who was responsible for Mercedes's death" Except in the countless "sequels" :D
@@stactionsmedia3318 Well it was just a joke about the many movies with Django character :) But yes I agree with similarities how they used Maciste that's much older character. They also made similar combination character movies with Django as they made with Maciste. So there's movies with Maciste, Hercules and Ursus in the same movie. And there's movies with Django, Sartana, Trinity etc.
This scene is way cooler in the Italian version. Every time villian shoots he's setting up a prayer. The father BANG the son BANG The holy BANG spirit BANG Then Django yells Amen and blow them all away
yes wtf were the english dubbers thinking the original italian ending- father bang the son bang the holy spirit bang amen bang bang bang is so absolutely brilliant in its epic finale
in fact most foreign language dubs have the prayer sequence -including the russian which was dubbed in the atheist soviet union....all foreign dubs except the lame english dub wtf
In the german dub (which is MUCH better than the english one) the dialogue is also completely different. Jackson’s monologue for instance includes him recounting Django’s invitation, that he may come by whenever he pleased, so he thought he should not disappoint such a man. Jackson: "And now, my friend, we settle this." BANG BANG Jackson: "Yes, now you’d need your canon with you!" BANG Jackson: "Now that it counts!" BANG Django: "Still works without it!" At least that’s how I would translate it. Some phrases don’t really have a punchy equivalent in English.
@@robinanwaldt As you of course know, back in the 1960s and 70s a lot of German dubs, especially Italian westerns and comedies, had very different dialog in places, to make it sound cooler, sometimes even changing the meaning completely (Once Upon...West is a perfect example). With that said: I still consider the German dubs excellent.
This is one of the classic, most epic Western movies. If I were you, I would would seek out similar iconic scenes and make yourself the go to guy for the most powerful and riveting of such scenes. ALL channels need a "hook" to give people a way to differentiate you from others.
The remake of Django brought me here , I remember back in the days when my dad used to watch Old Spaghetti Westerns now I see why he did these were the best films ever made
Westerns knew how to capture amazing scenes in the endings. Django (1966), Once Upon a Time in the West, A Fist Full of Dollars, and The Bad, and The Ugly
Damn I remember watching this as a kid, I was so used to seeing the hero being so much stronger than the villans that this really came as a shock to me. Django with his damaged hands couldn't even hold his gun and I really couldn't see a way out for him in this. I thought this is it, this is when the hero finally loses and I was so scared until he blasted them away with the help of the cross. Epic.
this scene was almost fictional on purpose: he had damaged his hands, and was unable to place the gun for an accuratting shooting. That´s why the scene is brilliant: he made the impossible accuracy shooting. 1 in a billion.
In italian the villain says that Django should pray because he's going to die and adds that it would be very difficult to pray because of his slaughtered hands and decides to "help" him. So the first shot is followed by :"in the name of the father" then he shoots again and says:"in the name of the son" he shoots for the third time and says:"in the name of the holy spirit". Then Django shoots and shouts"amen". I think that it is much better and has greater impact.
@@federicaisgro1017 yes the original sequence with the prayer is an absolute masterpiece the english version is sooo lame compared to that the prayer sequence also makes the entire film complete and sums up django overcoming his suffering through will power
