Kuku is one of the most important and popular rhythms in west african music, partially because it was taught by Mamada Keita and his students now for many years. Learn how to play step by step, it's a very simple rhythm, but has some subtleties of timing to convey the full feel. And I play it a little differently, to give me more speed and stamina. Some teachers will say this is not the right way to play it. They will teach you to play the first three notes on the same dominant hand. And you can choose any way you want. Non traditional, as in my way, or traditional, the other way.
