I bought gopro 10 after action 2 premiere. But... gopro still have problem with auto white balance, and in low light everything is yellow ;( I like real world colors - like in osmo action 1, but how it looks like in action 2 ?
@Kiko the video shows what everything looks like. White balance was set manually. I'll be sharing another video soon on how best to set up either camera for getting the best looking footage.
I ended up buying the Gopro 10 mainly because of the price difference. I purchased mine direct with Gopro & paid £435 for the camera , a 32gb sd card, a dual battery charger with an extra battery & the media mod. I had to sign up for the one year subscription which I will cancel before the year is up. For the camera only on Amazon its £480. So for me was a no brainer.🙂🙂
this is one of the best reviews for the dji A2 and Hero 10 I've seen, very informative and a non biased video. I think I'll stick with the OLD dji osmo action for now. Peace from Croydon
Great review great points it’s amazing how another camera can make you look back at GoPro and actually like it. If GoPro can incorporate magnets into their hero 11 oh boy now we’re talking
100%. The GoPro was my favourite after doing all these tests. I still like the Action 2, and I'll use it in certain scenarios, but overall the Hero10 is my preference, it's such a good all-rounder.
I think that color looks more natural for you on Action 2, and looks better with wider field of view, given its compact size and versatility, I would prefer Action 2 over hero 10.
Awesome as always, thank you Tamara. Just got the memo about your big news - Congratulations!!! Being OLD, I used the Hero 1 and Hero 3 and they both used to freeze with tedious monotony. I now use a Sony FDR but it’s staring to get a little long in the tooth. I don’t know which of these I’d go for. Maybe the DJI through pure laziness! I find battery an issue with my Pocket 2 though - just like the Action 2. Anyway, the FDR is good enough for now. Thanks again for this top review! 👍
Thanks, Andrew. And thank you so much for the hot chocolates! ☺☺ I remember when the Hero 1 came out but I wasn't into cameras and filming back then, I think the first one I got was the Hero 4, and I absolutely loved it!
After watching this, I would definitely go with the gopro 10. I don't like the "modular" system, I just want to be simple and I was surprised how better the color science on the gopro is. I don't like the grey(?) color of a human skin on the DJI Action 2 as well. Great work Tamara as always. I've just been enjoying your works on youtube even though I am not a camera guy. Thank you.
the only issue with using the Action 2 as a vlogging camera is that stupid battery :/ so I think I'll continue using my Sony a6400 as a vlogging camera, it's annoying that it's so big though. and the action 2 for my action footage (quick footage) or anything quick on the go.
Was looking forward to this! Awesome video thank you so much. Now I'm trying to decide between the Hero 10 and the Pocket 2. Do you have a preference between those two? Thanks!
You're welcome 😊 I haven't finished the comparisons between the Hero 10 and the Pocket 2 yet, but they are two very different cameras so a direct comparison doesn't work out. I would say though if you want a camera that you can vlog with and get some action shots then the Hero 10 will be the best option, otherwise if purely vlogging then the Pocket 2 is the better option.
I'd go for the Hero 10 for convenience. With the added Media Mod you can get an external mic and have decent audio. If you're gonna be using underwater, then having the front screen will be useful, as the Action 2 Touchscreen Module isn't waterproof.
The only thing I can think of is using a filter - an ND filter or if you don't want to use an ND filter then a UV filter. The filters are magnetic so may come off when the Action 2 falls depending on how it falls, but could also stay on. Otherwise, just putting it in the waterproof case is another option, not ideal but can't think of anything else. Although I have seen some screen and lens protectors on Amazon (like what you'd put on your phone), but I haven't tried them.
Great video. I travel a lot and have about 10 GoPro batteries and few 128GB cards for my light travel bag. I did not charge batteries until the 3 day. This years trip to Greece I never worried about the batteries or charging or where the other part of my GoPro was. I can appreciate the smaller form factor but lack of an SD card and a way to swap a battery would suck. I would be afraid i would lose the bottom half and not be able to charge my camera, you can buy or borrow a USB-C anywhere.
Very interesting video thank Goodness you! I must say I love my Action 2 but I like the warmer more vivid footage of the GoPro in your video. I suspect DJI will add a vivid profile in a firmware update. I swap between the single camera and the dual screen when I’m using it, so the dual screen mod charges the camera battery and so I’ve never run out of battery. Both good cameras both with advantages and disadvantages.
Thanks! Yeah, I agree, both have their advantages and disadvantages. I think they both just have different uses too. I'd use the Action 2 for some things that I wouldn't use the GoPro for, and vice versa.
Thanks Barry 😊 I love the idea of the Insta 360 but I just didn't get along with it when I got it. I think what put me off the most was the battery life.
@@TamaraGabrielUK yes its crap but i find it super handy for stealth mode and short b roll. I think the action 2 is a better option but it's a lot more money and I am not sure I would use it enough I may end up getting one when they go on sale. I love the action 1. The go 2 offers a usbc charging GoPro mount now for the camera only. Maybe dji will do this also. It's not waterproof but ots super convenient to charge the camera
Yeah beingvao small I bet it's great for getting the shots when you don't necessarily want people seeing the fact that you've got a camera, some people get so suspicious. The USB-C charging GoPro mount sounds like a good option 👍🏾
This review was so good! I’ve had the Action 2 in my online shopping cart for over a week 😅 I just absolutely love the design of the Action 2 and have been very satisfied with DJI products. But the video, battery and durability of the GoPro have me rethinking things…
Great video. Very informative. Looking at this on a large screen, the Action 2 looks much better. The de cinelike is great. The gopro is too saturated, and not as sharp. Are you sure the audio is only coming from the dji Action Camera only module, ie single mic? Sometimes it sounded in stereo. Would you reccomend the dual screen or power combo? Cheers.
Yeah it's definitely wide enough to not be a massive concern, but I still like to keep an eye on my framing and exposure whilst I'm filming myself so that's why I'd chose the dual screen combo.
@@TamaraGabrielUK ok thank you that's a good points as well. As much as I would like the dual screen version I think the power combo makes an affordable attractive option as it's now discounted to about 250
The gopro screen/lcd is low quality, also it isnt a functional touchscreen on both sides. It's a bit more rugged but I personally dont need that. The portability of the action 2 is great.. The second LCD module however is a must.
Hi tamara, The action camera tests you have been showing us have been done very well. What I would like to add to your findings is that the GoPro looks way better at the native resolution of 5.3k. 4k is actually downscaled on the GoPro. So to get better results film in 5.3k and with horizon levelling at 5.3k it leaves the Action 2 far behind. The two concepts are amazing and I like both. There is use for both. Thank you for the effort you have put into this. Oh,, and I love your accent. Greetings, Maurits.
Yep i was right! it was a good video. Ive seen plenty of comparison videos. The paid reviews painted the dji 2 in a better light. I like the hero 10 better because the colours are vibrate and really pop compared to the dji 2. The dji 2 looks dull and flat As for the horizon levelling in a few days time the lens mod option will become available, owning the hero9 i already have the lens mod. As for mounting options i have the snap mount making as easy to swap between chest mount or tripod etc. Hero 10 battery life is way better (new battery released soo too) and i have a spares from the hero9. You didn’t mention the dji 2’s over heating issues, may be its because of the cold temps we have. How do you know what white balance to use? I stick to auto because i just dont know how to set it correctly.
Thanks. Yeah, I favour the Hero 10. With the overheating I covered it in a separate video about the Action 2, and because I was shooting outdoors and haven't had the issue, it's just something I don't see as a big deal, at least in this climate. But in summer with high temperatures I'll be testing them both out, so I'll do a separate video then. In terms of white balance I eyeball it sometimes making sure whites look white, but one of the things you can do on the Action 2 and the Hero 10 is set the white balance to auto and then immediately set it to manual and it will give you the setting that the camera chose, then just adjust it a bit if it looks a bit off.
Yeah, the Hero 10 is definitely the better action camera. I'm doing a comparison between Action 2 and Pocket 2 (even though very different cameras) but the Pocket 2 is definitely the clear winner for vlogging.
@@TamaraGabrielUK I will love to see that comparison. The Pocket 2 seems like the perfect camera for my needs but the only thing holding me back is that in quite a few reviews the focus seems to be off sometimes. Have you noticed any problems with focusing on the Pocket 2?
I cant say I've noticed it whilst vlogging. I tend to set my autofocus to Continuous so it's constantly trying to keep me in focus. Could be others might have Single focus set maybe...
I'm so torn. I like the form factor of the action 2 a lot more, but I also want the battery life of the hero 10. Since I want to use the camera both for traveling and snowboard, I just don't know what to get.
@@TamaraGabrielUK depends on what I'm doing. If I'm traveling, it's longer clips at a lower frame rate. For snowboard, it's shorter clips at a higher frame rate.
@@TamaraGabrielUK In that case, im impressed by the battery life with your testing. And without the touchscreen module, I personally think the audio is pretty impressive (GoPro sounded a little muffled to me)
Yeah the Action 2 audio is definitely better than the Hero 10. What I forgot to mention is that the Hero 10 records raw audio file so it would be easy to edit the audio in post to make it sound better. Maybe I'll do a video on that. For such a small camera the battery life on the Action 2 without the module is ok and pretty much what I expected, but it's just not enough for me, which is why I prefer the Hero 10.
@@TamaraGabrielUK I didn't know about raw audio. That's cool to know. Agreed on battery life really depends on what you need as a film maker. On my end, I come from the insta360 Go2 and enjoy shooting short clips. I took the camera out for a half marathon race and didn't have much issues on battery life, but that may just be because of how I shoot short burst clips (but also was shooting at 2.7k 24fps which may be easier on the battery)
Yeah, it definitely depends what you're filming. I'll 100% use it when I want to mount it on my chest and capture some short FPV shots, I think that's what it'll be most useful to me for.
Action 2 is actually better than gopro 10. Had both and gopro you could just not get any real usable footage and in low light the hero 10 is way worse and even worse than the hero 9. I got the hero 10 originally because people said action 2 sucked but i found the hero 10 footage to be just terrible. also with the module you get 110mins extra and its bout same size as gopro anyway.
Im still not 100% I had my Hero 7 for over 3 years and most recently here in Jamaica it just was not waterproof at one point, funny thiing is my friend just got a Hero 9 and well had the same issue the same day.. but his camera was 1 month old.. I love those POV shots hmm i just dont know
@@TamaraGabrielUK In terms of spare batteries, are they cheaper than GoPro Batteries. I am torn between both, not sure if you have checked what type of content I make, maybe you can help me choose a winner.
The Action 2 uses either a Power Module or a Touchscreen Module for extra power. Both are incredibly expensive if all you're wanting is that extra batter juice. That's why the Hero 10 was the winner on that front.
Good Morning Lov great job 1thing I noticed the hero brings everything close both are good but I definitely buying the hero for Xmas Oh how’s the little to one doing 👩🍼🍼
