I discovered you first on your Air 3 waypoints video. I was having a lot of trouble getting Point of Interest (POI) to work within waypoints but after looking at dozens of videos, yours was the one that cleared up my concerns. Thank you very much for that. I moved from Air 2 to Air 3. I learned hyperlapse with the Air 2 but wanted to do more at night and in low light conditions. The Air 3 seemed like the ticket. But, I learned the Air 3 does not repeat the altitude in waypoint hyperlapse when you save a mission and them try to repeat it later like the Air 2 does unless the barometric pressure is the same as when the mission was saved. Air 2 does not have this problem. I wanted to do day to night hyperlapse and was shocked when the altitudes were all over the place which takes the subject out of the frame. I have been working with DJI on this since Feb. 2024 having sent them videos, screen recordings of the initial flight set up and flight records. They have finally said they hope to correct this in a firmware update in the future. It has been six months and I"m still waiting. Just an FYI for anyone wanting to do repeat hyperlapse.

Great video. You broke down Hyperlapses better than the other videos I've watched. Thanks for the education. My Air 3 is arriving today.

I fly my Air 3 a lot but rather oddly still have not explored the hyperlapse facility. I have been all over You Tube looking at loads of tutorials. I have to tell you that yours is about the best, most comprehensive and most clearly explained that I have seen on here or indeed anywhere else and I would like to give you massive thank you for it. I have seen and commented on some of your other You Tube clips. They are always dead easy to watch and really really useful. Thank you again 😊

For Night Hyperlapses, it is effective to use a longer shutter speed, but remember that the Hyperlaps interval must be at least 2X your shutter speed. This means that it wil take longer to capture a Hyperlaps of the same duration. Also, learn to use Waypoints. I had always used Course lock, but even my 1st attempt using Waypoint was was much more interesting. Stay away from "free".. It always looks like crap..

Hey Karl. Yeah this is something I want to try it’s just trying to find the time. If only RU-vid was my full time gig. Just to clarify if I use a 2s shutter my interval is 4s. 4s shutter, 8s interval. Yeah I wasn’t a fan of free mode but it’s good to know. I definitely need to test waypoints more. It’s something I will be covering soon in a future video.

OK just something I spotted in my own video: - It looks like with Circle mode I was actually in free mode, even through it achieved a similar result. - I also need to test long exposure Hyperlapse as I think it would look really cool. - Lastly the motors being hot is a combination of the heat in Cyprus and during shooting Hyperlapses the drone is slow moving so not much air passing over the drone but I didn't suffer any over heating issues which is good but something to keep an eye on.

My experience at getting a slower shutter speed is I had to reduce the light coming into the camera lense. I use ND filters as high as ND2000 during bright daylight. When in manual or Pro mode I find the Air 3 will allow slower shutter speeds as light is decreased.
@DimmyV
@DimmyV Месяц назад
I actually got my hands on the FreeWell ND1000-2000 and made a video on this too. It still caps out at 2-8sec depending if in 12 or 48mp for photos and 2sec for Hyperlapse. Unless in a recent update that’s changed.

@@DimmyV Yes sir. 8 sec is it. Per the Air 3 manual page 100; Electronic shutter speed Wide -angle camera 12MP photo: 1/16000-2 sec (2.5-8 sec for simulated long exposure); 48MP Photo: 1/8000-2 sec Medium Tele Camera same as above

@@RodneyDanger wish we could have longer like 30 sec for photo mode. Would be amazing to get something longer to empty cities

You can easily achieve a long exposure hyperlapse by using a ND filter. I prefer to use them on really bright sunny days though.

I actually have a video on this. I bought Freewell all day 8 pack set and it came with ND 1000 and 2000, the only limitation is the timer for the shutter is maxed at 2 seconds.

@@DimmyV thanks for confirming.. a mate just did a real world test.. Mavic 3 Pro at 1x it's 12mp (4032x3032) & at 3x it's 20mp (5272x3948) or 48mp (8064x6048) pixel shift composite.. bit tricky to find tbh.. share here incase it helps future peoples.. 🤓

Not sure if this is still relevant to you. You need to increase the interval above 1 second to get your shutter slower than 1/3"

They give the speeds in weird increments. 1/1.25 is .8", 1/1.67 is .6", and 1/2.5 is .4". Hope this helps.

Great work Demetrios...I'm curious to know if you fly between buildings in your city flights. Curious to know if you have transmission problems when you do AND I wonder if the transmission changes at night. These are things that I don't have the physics down on, that may have affected a recent crash I had when flying between tall buildings in a downtown area. Thanks for your help!
@DimmyV
@DimmyV 10 месяцев назад
Hey mate, it's very likely there will be transmission interference when flying between buildings. It's recommend if you are doing this to stay line of sight (which you should do anyways). When flying downtown it will be hard to pickup satellites and you should be away from metal objects as they interfere with GPS lock. I haven't noticed anything different at night but I would be more vigilant as you won't see hard to see obstacles like power lines which are already difficult to see in the day. Take crashes as a lesson learned, I've had my fair share but learn from the mistakes and check your fly app for signal strength etc

@JamesLaws-Cinematographer
@JamesLaws-Cinematographer 9 месяцев назад
Thanks for your feedback. It's true that I didn't have true Visual Line of Sight. I attempted to "U-turn" my way back to the landing pad, but it didn't work out. The good news is that I did have DJI Care Refresh and had the drone replaced, so I'll be more careful in the future. It's getting colder here in Oklahoma, so Cityscapes are still a nice subject to shoot when the natural areas like forests and all go from green-to-brown, to no leaves on the trees. Have a good one!
