My 13 year old nephew is paralyzed now for just over a year from the neck down , he can move his head around & it’s got me thinking about buying or building a drone that he can have some control over weather it be camera head tracking or possibly even flight control. He has a nice chair that he controls with his head so why can’t that be applied to an FPV drone or even a RC truck . I really want him to have some sense of control & freedom and this could be something to hopefully put a smile on his face . I built drone for years before his accident & introduced him to the FPV hobby he would love to watch me fly battery after battery with an extra pair of goggle , he got interested enough so I bought him his own drone to learn to fly line of sight first before I built him a full FPV rig . but the accident happened. So now this is my goal .
Maybe wait a little as eye tracking is slowly seeping into VR headsets and could make its way to a drone headset...If it does the lad can control both drone and chair at the same time.
Absolutely worth it! I thought flying Mavic-style drones was satisfying and immersive but WOW this Avata is something else. I gave my 85 yr dad the motion controller last fall and he was almost crying. Yes you need a new hobby, yes you need this, yes it's that good (at least to me).

Man idk about that grabbing part!.. I accidently lifted off before I knew how to stop or land, tried to grab it and it yelled at me in a crazy way and felt like it was going to break! 😂 I actually have a vid of it.
I think it's more to demonstrate the grab landing technique, by grabbing it and turning it upside down the rotors cut off, so instead of landing on the ground you can just grab it flip it and power down etc. If for example there's not really a good place to land.
Well if youre into fpv drones for freestyle then get a proper fpv freestyle drone. This avata is, in my opinion, something for people that do t really want to get into the hobby, dont wanna learn to fly in acro mode and just wanna cruise around. But if youre at least a bit serious about the hobby then i dont think all this stuff is necessary, no real fpv pilot flys the avata with those features
It's impressive but I'd want to see the latency at a farther distance. Putting it right next to your head will obviously have low latency. Still impressive how far tech has come in such a short time
Hello 2022 we got 5G+2,4, distance won't change a thing, even on distance up to 4km like with every other drone. I have no lag at all on 4 Km with my mini 2.
How much are these typically? I would freakin be sooo grateful to the universe if one just landed in my mailbox, or stumble on some givaway or mega sale. I’d never be able to afford something this cool, my nice one is $80 lol. Hats off to those who do though, keep making awesome content with them.
Fun fact: staring next year Finland, country with the largest land border from all the NATO countries with Russia and a mandatory conscription, will add drone flying as a mandatory part of every conscripts service. This thing looks like it would nicely replace some of the forward observers for artillery and mortar fire on top of a squad based recon. Thank you Avatar in the help of de-Russification process.
I know how you feel, I started with the M3P as my first drone and recently got this. Both have many creative uses that neither can achieve in a all in one package.
I’m just waiting for the day DJI drones become to intuitive that you don’t need to go onto Steam to practice FPV and it is around $300-$400 instead of an insane $800-$2,000 drone. And it either comes with a 4k camera or I can hook up my own GoPro to the drone.
Well it’s not meant to be a drone that you just like fly above a beach, it’s meant to fly in cool looking places like an fog drone. If you want to fly a drone at the park or something then get an air or mini series.
@@mrothstein24 because they are ment for smooth & quiet flight, due to their brushless motors it makes them nearly silent which is really helpful if you don’t want someone noticing it, I got yelled at by my neighbors because they heard my rc plane flying over them though it didint have a camera😅

@@bobcassidy7653it can definitely be a sport. They have professional drone racing that takes a ton of skill. Even going full acro mode in the fpv takes a ton of skill. I’ve only ever gone into sport mode bc I’m not trying to wreck doing a 1,000ft dive.
No latency because the distance is less than a foot. You get this at a far distance and you'll have latency. Unless you boost the signal which is going to suck battery.
where can I find the connection cord? and where can I connect it? because the drone is produced and delivered without it, and this function is not available to the average buyer.?
Custom ones are more expensive when you’re starting out with nothing. The controller, headset, tools, and camera would make it more expensive than the avata.
Ok, so you turn your head to turn left. so do you have to keep your head turned to the left to stay on that path? What if you need to take another left? Not sure who can twist their neck more 70 degrees.
I have the avata 2 but my dumb ahh brother crashed it but I'm getting a literal fpv combo and ima go to someone to fix the avata but ima not use it for now cuz ima expand my collection first
I finally tried head tracking because I needed to circle around an object like I do with my Mavic 2. Basically you have to keep going straight but you turn your head to “look” at the object you want to circle and the drone turns accordingly. Feels disorienting and it’s tricky to nail, but amazingly - it works!
if you want to be a real fpv pilot and not some pilot that does house tours and has "easy acro" on a switch then 1000% not worth the hype and its pretty terrible as a fpv drone
