Great video, I see sometimes pleasing additional recovery of dynamic range in the oa5 log footage. I think there are pros and cons to each looking at the log footage. The OA5 AWB seems to tint warmer?
I'll take the A4 everytime , the A5P seems to smash the DR too much towards the middle and the colors look pastel. I own both FWIW and I've only found the A5P to look good when you're backlit by the sun, there it makes a diff.
DlogM looks better on the A5 but Dji really needs to turn down HDR more, and it also decreases the sharpening to like -3. Most importantly, that halo on the edges! So disgusting 😅
After using the A4 and the A5 I don't find any of the new features of the A5 to be of any value for the videos I make. I think the A4 normal color profile works the best for sunny daytime use. To get the best results with the A5 I use D-log M and then use the DJI lut. With the A4 I can just use the normal color profile with no color correction so it's just a bit easier to use. I didn't see any difference using the high bitrate so for now I will just leave it on standard. If the A5 had the GPS data in the camera without having to use the remote, that would would be a feature of value to me. I think everyone enjoys the A4 or the A5 with the Mic 2. That was a huge upgrade from the A3 and something I really enjoy. The best features are the ease of use and reliability of DJI cameras and accessories.
Thank You so much for your help! I am leaning towards the OA5 as a future vlogger. It also looks more like my Pocket 3. When you get the AcePro 2 could you do a comparison with the AO5 in 1080p, RU-vid throttles it down to 1080p anyway so it would only be advantageous to those watching RU-vid on monitors or tvs. My audience will be world travelers who mostly watch on portable devices. Also, since you are clearly an expert on this topic: Do you think uploading 4K is better even though RU-vid reduces it down to 720p or 1080p?
Hello there, well you can post in 4k. My videos are in 4k and not 1080. Sorry to tell you that I can't do my videos in 1080 because 99% of the people wants to see 4k footages and not lower res... You can post in 4k and keep the decision for the viewer what res to chose to watch your clips
Since u have a pocket 3 already, maybe the oa5 is the better camera for you especially if u use selfmade luts. The color science between the diffrent dji products drones, cameras etc is all really similiar so u can use the same luts on diffrent products but have the same quality and image.
@@photorabz not really hadroce color matching each scene. More like I have a lut for the forest with diffrent greens, one for citys at day one for city at night. Just gives ur videos a bit of a pop and doesnt take much time. Not like color matching each scene for 2 weeks for 5 min clip.
Photorabz I need your help. There is an open box special at Best Buy for the OA5 adventure combo for $339, it’s a steal. Should I wait for the ace pro 2 or jump on this deal or wait? Mainly going to do night ride motorcycle videos. Not having 10 bit on the ace pro 2 possibly might deter me.
Well I can tell you if you have money buy both and discover that yourself. I saw some videos on motorcycles with ace pro2 in low light and it was awesome. If you wanna shoot in low light then go ace pro 2 sure. And don't be fooled by 10bit. Watch my videos Abt this topic I have at least 2. And then let me know your thoughts
@@photorabz thank you soo much, I will wait until tomorrow to get the ace pro 2. I will also watch the video about the 10 bit. Also just subscribed, love your honest reviews.
Im so hyped for tomorrow and the insta360 ace pro 2. I really hope that I can use ultra widescreen, with electronic stabilisation on 1, plus the nightmode on and not be cropped into oblivion (still have a high degree view).
@@photorabz The teaser trailer for ap2 with the title "the real pro" fired me up. Before I thought that oa5 and ap2 will be pretty much playing in the same league. But now if the ap2 ist not better by quite a bit i am gonna be disapointed.
I enjoy the action 5 more, if you put human subject in frame, you'll notice it straight away due to color temp and exposure. Before this, dji always prioritize the background first. For me, it's not ideal.
I look at the two and its a difficult call. The OA4 standard is £229 and the OA5 is £329 (standard package), via your affiliate links At this point in time you have to ask if this is your first action cam is the OA5 really worth the extra cost. £100 (120 euro). Ok the OA5 is ready to shoot and the OA4 needs an sd card so another £30. Of course the OA4 will be gone once stocks are depleted. but at current price over video quality i think the OA4 is better. But still going to hold onto my money and wait to see what Tomorrow brings with the ace pro 2
Nice comparison. OA5 in D-LOG M is better than Normal Color, but appears to apply a sharpening filter. The OA4 looks better to me, but I think it's possible to achieve the same level of image quality on both cameras by doing proper color grading, and no one will know which is which.
@@photorabz this LUT just converts D-LOG M to Rec709, to get the benefit of using D-LOG M you must do color grading, which is the purpose of using this color profile. But you did the right thing by just applying the LUT, it's better for comparing the footage.
I wld like to say that it's true..but this is a camera where 99% of users will use it as it is not even dlog and they won't lose time post processing to post on tiktok
@@photorabz yes, most users will shoot in the normal color profile and never engage in this endless discussion about colors, bitrate or which camera is best. Any camera they use will do the job just fine.
Auto mode in a4 has a 100-200 iso choise compared to 100-800 on a5 You can get even better results that way ,less noise reduction in -2 settings and no crapy hdr on top thak you very much :P
D-log is always useful and better than normal recording mode provided that the editing is correct. It’s like asking if raw is better than jpeg; for sure it is but then it’s up to the editing capacity. In any case, auto exposure doesn’t make sense if you want to get the most from your video…
There is not much difference between OA4 and OA5 but the OA5 has more Dynamic and more sharpness in the background 1:29 but its not every time. Colors are a bit more Vibrant on the 5 and its a bit brighter than the 4. White balance is on point on the 5 where the 4 goes a little bit to the blue (your tshirt in vlog style filming) 2:59. nhe naket trees looks a bit oversharpened on the 5
The OA5 is slightly better in most scenes, but it is incremental over the 4. I can see better dynamic range and details with less HDR look (in most cases). At first it appears the OA4 has more details in the clouds but I asked another reviewer and he said they looked more like they did in real life to the OA5 which I suspected. It also seems to expose better for your face (4:32) than the OA4 with D-LogM. I'm wondering if they tweaked the D-LogM face exposure because this is an issue on the Pocket 3. I preferred D-LogM overall on both cameras here, especially on your face as it was less digitally sharpened compared to Normal color profile. I just do not like the Super Night mode at all. It makes human faces look like plastic cartoons, unless they fixed it with the update. Most cameras, even cheap ones, look great on non-human subjects in good lighting. How the color science handles human faces, specifically in low-light is the biggest deciding factor for me.
Here with the new upgrade on 5.. both 4 and 5 are good.. it depends on personal taste. There are times i like 4 over 5 and there are times i like 5 over 4.
DJI action 5 pro looks better now. You never mentioned the bit rate used. D log m improves the picture over the standard profile. The one thing that DJI has is the intellectual property of hassleblad and the professional cameras like the Ronin 4d. That was used to film blockbuster movies. I'm sure they will not go down without a fight in this Action camera battle. Insta360 has a net worth of 833 million. DJI has a net worth of $15 billion and sells $1 billion per year to the United States alone. These are the facts I wonder who's going to win
