ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1uXUWDdPPF8.html - CORRECTION ON GRAPHICAL ERROR FROM 4:20 - 4:48 Thanks to Zbip57 for pointing out my graphical mistake @ 4:24 (FPV View Wrong), and @4:40 (FPV View Wrong) + the homepoint and MDRC supposed to move to the top (0/zero), not staying at the bottom. And at @4:47 the homepoint should be at 270 and MDRC at 90. Should I make another amended video for that correction?
CzR drone i have been searching for the best instructional video on the use of compass and proper navigation, have seen a number of videos but your's so far is the best and the clearest.
Awesome explanation. Now when it says strong wind, I can roughly know where the wind is coming from base on the tilt when the drone is stationary. 👍👍👍 Last time they don't have this and I have to fly in all directions just to find out where the wind is coming from base on the speed. This tilting indicator is actually a Drone saver for those who knows how to use it.
Very impressive in-depth, thoroughly thought out content and explained simplistically. Some of the best drone content videos I’ve seen, if not, the best!
Thanks for the pointer on calibration! It looks to be pointing in correct direction now 😀 after calibrating the compass with the phone inside of the remote controller
Nice video great explanation. Are you using an Iphone or Android app? My MDRC compass doesnt look at all in the direction im pointing it into. The way you explained makes perfect sence to me as well and I expected it to work in this way however mine almost seems 180 degrees out. If I am pointing directly at the rear of my drone facing directly forward my mdrc shows that i have my back against the direction of the drone. Any explanation why this could be?
Hi there. Thanks. I am using android v9 huawei p10. Have u tried my other vid for the possible solution? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IIzUxyX3Hfk.html There is another fix which i didnt talk about in the vid. Some phone model apparently need to rotate the phone port (default left) to the right. And a longer cable is required. What u can do to try for now is to detach the mobile from the remote holder (while cable still remain connected), and turn on everything, let the aircraft get some satellite >8 on the ground not flying, then when u see the attitude indicator completed but not accurate, now rotate your phone (default port left) to right and see if that pointer become accurate. Becareful if u are using the original flat cable as it is quite fragile. If that is, that would be the fix and proceed to get a longer cable
Yes - the new attitude/position indicator is a step up and much better than the older version. Falls much more in line now with DJI's other software and offers far more information.
Yup agreed. Maybe a minor improvement on the MDRC covering the homepoint should be handle on next update. Maybe make the blue circle slightly bigger so even if it's covered by homepoint, is still visible and become eye-friendly for everyone.
The lines you are referring to is called an artificial horizon. It is used in ifr(instrument flight) to know the attitude of the aircraft when visual attitude is not possible.
Thank you so very much for explaining this bro!!! I've been trying to explain it to people and these people are just too stupid to understand something so simple. I also first thought it's like in the airplanes the attitude indicator, but then I saw it works in the opposite way for up and down! So yeah I call it an ATTITUDE INDICATOR like you do in your video here.. I guess I'd call the whole thing Aircraft Awareness Indicator, lol.. Sweet Keep well and be safe bro!
Thank you.. yes is very difficult to explain with just word. Need an illustration or realtime demo to visualize it better. I just used the name being given by DJI itself but i dont use bank pitch and so on just not to confuse the term used for aviation since its reaction is opposite.
@@CZRProduction I really really wonder why do you think they changed it to work in an opposite way!? Nose down or forward tilt/bank should bring down the indicators. You know when I first saw the new indicator I hadn't yet tried it, and I wrote online how it works! I wrote the way I know from flight simulators, and I was half wrong! I did correct myself after that but that left me confused for a while.. Then I thought it's maybe because from DJI they have QAs who test the software and these QAs probably though of the drone tilts left the indicator also tilts left - so if the drone tilts forward then the indicator also tilts forward.. So...... ....it seems that DJI is trying to tell us the actual tilt of the aircraft! Bank to the left turns the indicator to the left, bank to the back, the indicator goes back.. Its not an up and down thing, it's a Forward and Backwards thing they are showing I think.. Sweet Keep well and be safe bro!
Hahahah i am not sure but I guess because proper aviation aircraft has an actual view of banking vs artificial horizon line as a reference to stay level, and we cant do that with drone since it has a gimbal and camera that stay horizon all the time (unless FPV mode). And there is no 'proper' horizon view to simulate that and we dont really need horizon line to keep the drone level, and that will make aircraft vs artificial horizon irrelevant. So they decided to just show the tilt of the drone, instead of artificial horizon line. U too bro be safe and take care!
Thanks for your very detailed explanation. Just two questions. At 4:25 the blue dot is at 270°, and the image in the bottom-right makes sense showing you standing looking at the left side of the aircraft with the Home Point over on the right side. Shouldn't the image in the upper-right be reversed? It's showing the right side of the aircraft, which would be the view looking from the Home Point, not from where you're standing. Even more confusing, at 4:40 the aircraft rotates 180° to fly heading South. The attitude indicator now correctly shows North behind the aircraft. Your 0, 90, 180, 270 are *NOT* compass directions pointing N, E, S, W, correct? They are instead constantly fixed relative to the aircraft, pointing Forward, Right, Rearward, Left respectively. At 4:45, as the aircraft yaws clockwise to the right to swing around pointing South, the North pointer swings the opposite way counter-clockwise to the aircraft's left. That makes sense too. North has now swung from the 0° (Forward) position, around to the 180° (Rearward) position. That's all accurate. But, shouldn't the Home Point and Blue also have swung counter-clockwise around the dial? The aircraft's nose should now be pointing at Home, no? The overhead image in the bottom-right is accurate, showing the aircraft now returning from the North, pointing South with you and the Home Point still in the same original locations. However, it ends up with you now looking at the aircraft's right side. That's not what's being shown in the "First Person View" in the upper-right. That's incorrectly showing the aircraft's left side. Also, the attitude indicator should now be showing the Blue dot and Home Point the opposite way around, with the Home Point at the 270 position, and the Blue dot at 90, no?
Oppppsss i am sorry that it was a graphical mistake. Thanks for pointing out. Yes you're right, the FPV view was wrong. And for the second one @4.45, the homepoint and blue circle supposed to move 0 as well. Really appreciate your detailed explanation on my mistake. I will make another amendment video on that.
@@Zbip57 Thanks! I am editing the amendment and will upload it with an end-card to redirect to the amendment version. Really thank you for pointing that out. Must've overworked on this video until I was partially paralyze with that mistake hahaha.
Has anyone figured out how to correct the drone indicator always pointing 90 degrees off? I've calibrated the compass on the drone, several times, yet on the indicator, it always points 90 deg off. i.e., it shows the drone facing west when it's facing north. You can watch the arrow moving sideways when the drone is flying forward. I wish they had a simple option to set it. i.e. physically point the drone north and tap something on the screen to set 'north' in the software.
Hii, Most of the time is cause by your phone magnetometer/compass. Maybe can try this to understand the logic behind and possible find a fix for it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IIzUxyX3Hfk.html
@@CZRProduction I could see the phones compass causing the indicator for the remote direction being off, can't see how it could affect the data on the drones orientation. The phone does know direction correctly though. A compass app works correctly.
@@loughkb the fly app use both the compass data from the phone for the remote icon, and the compass from the aircraft. Most of the time the phone compass is out due to the remote magnetic interference when attached to the remote, without knowing it thus showing inaccuracy. If the aircraft compass is out, a warning will prompt to calibrate it. U can download a compass app with magnetic interference value, or u can open up your original phone compass app, and use a magnet to find the magnetometer spot on the phone, then from there if the magnetometer spot is too close to the remote when attached, that will be the problem
@@CZRProduction That seems sensible. I'll look in that direction. It could be coincidence, but two flights today and I pointed the drone and remote in the same direction at launch both times. The indicator was correct on both flights. I'll have to do a few experiments now. :-)
Great graphics and tutorial....The biggest problem with the new Compass, is seeing it well enough. In particular the blue Controller and the direction it's pointing...Fine on a big iPad maybe, hopeless on a phone screen (most users)...The obvious solution would be to reinstate the original Compass as well. Keep everyone happy...🤔🤔🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Thank you.. Yeah.. or maybe enlarge the blue circle so even if it overlap/cover by HP, since it is bigger, it will not create much confusion/inconvenience
@@CZRProduction Agreed, I don't see why they couldn't remove the Home Point icon completely....I mean can't we remember where we took off!! Does it even matter? 🤔🤔🤔😳😳🇬🇧
I'm using Android Hand phone, the latest fly app 1.2.2 doesn't have hyperlapse cruise in it when I try to set the function button, please check what happened.
Hi, maybe u can try to reinstall the fly app. Sometime certain function not available as a bug, a reinstall will normally fix that. Or u can also try clean reinstall by uninstall, restart your phone, and install back the app. Generally it works for most of the app in phone
The radar is way to small. I can see the rc orientantion very badly. How yo enlarge? Or get the old vrtsion back? My only intest is keeping the antennas pointed in the right direction.
Unfortunately the size is fixed. However a larger mobile screen might makes the indicator bigger. U can downgrade dji fly app easily too if u are using android to get the old orientation indicator back
@@CZRProduction Well I have a larger screen than on a lot of youtube films (6.5 inch it hardly fits in the remote) but the resolution/dpi is much higher so the radar is like 10 mm in size. It really does not scale. Other people much have problems with it too I think. If I use the older app won't I risc my drone? Ie I have been reading about all these new app updates and every one is hpyed abut it. but I can't have my drone fly off to the moon.
Using the non-latest app is totally fine in terms of operation but u might not get certain new feature that is with the latest version. If u have dji care refresh or other insurance, u might need to check the clause for that. Otherwise, all is fine. There is once i hold back update for months and skipped 2/3 version. Just remember, dji fly app is just a tool for livefeed, without the app, u can still fly as usual but u cant access to features nor know whats going on.
For android, yes is 1.3.0. For ios is 1.3.1 as of now. Actually in my experience it doesnt matter much if your fly app is outdated (unless some widely reported obvious bugs was fixed and new features introduced), otherwise u are good to fly with outdated apps or aircraft firmware. But do check the terms and conditions for care refresh if u have it, not sure if latest update is needed for a claim. (We dont have care refresh in our country)
@@CZRProduction I thought something was messed up or broken and have been searching for answers for about 14 hours now. after seeing your video because all the older videos don't show the indicator missing. I saw that your indicator with a white triangle and circle was missing too...so this makes sense...thank you for a great video 📹
If android, bring up the navigation key by tapping (normally square) icon at the bottom of your phone, then swipe up to kill the process. If ios, i believe just swipe upward from bottom, and swipe upward again to kill
I don't like the way DJI did this at all. It's such a pain to try and bring it up that I don't even bother trying anymore. It was fine where it was. Why did they have to bury it in some tiny impossible to bring up icon the size of a pin head? I hope they fix this ASAP or give us the option of having the other compass. At least it worked and was available on the screen.
It doesn't quite line up with the horizon-- only when going forward and back. When tilting left and right the lines appear to represent the aircraft, not the horizaon. Had to watch it a few times. Kind of messed up. It seems to go with 'back legs' of drone.
@@skyroach thank you. i thought of that but i don wan it to get confused with the real aviation attitude indicator as the reaction is different. By using the same term, i am afraid it will be more confusing for ppl who had experienced in aviation
@@420weedguy i saw the problem on the smart controller reported by others. Unfortunately i dont have the luxury to own it so i cant help further on that ☹️.
