Is there more latency via the fly app Vs HDMI out? The extra features make it cool for live video capture for sure.

That latency looked lower then what the DJI Pro Controller has by the time you get it's vision in to a broadcast truck. I'm wondering if I can use the version for the Pocket Osmo to feed RTSP in to a vMix system, to let me put a lightweight Pan/Tilt camera in places where it's too dangerous to have a camera operator stand, where we currently have fixed cameras. If the developer wants any feedback, please ask whether their software can take input from ONVIF and other PTZ protocols?

Also, might want to add a note somewhere, that the V1/V2 Goggles version is US $25. That rates as a bargain for what is probably the larger number of DJI goggles sales/owners so far.

For big production houses $150 is nothing. For everyone else this is way too expensive. Cosmostreamer developers read comments, you should make two types of licenses with different limitations (learn from Blackmagic Davinci resolve). Make one license ultra cheap ($10 for example) and set the limits like only one hdmi display, no stream over the wifi, no youtube or any other platform,etc...) and full license like it exist now. Im sure that many digital racers would buy cheap license and then organisators could stream their (multiple) videos on one screen. Again, learn a little from Davinci resolve, it will be easier for all 🙂

$150 is a bargain for what that does. Compare it to how much the DJI system cost, and then how much the pro controller would cost on top, and this is a massive cost saving over that.

Considering it's just software that we only need to mimick the DJI apps commication protocol, it's fair all around at 25, total rip off at 150 for goggles 2/integra. That's almost 50% of what the integras cost these days

I would have done 50 bucks no problem, 150 is wild since it also appears to tie to hardware. Would have made more money if it was cheaper and more licenses were purchased vs sub amounts for higher price.

So, yes agree but this is the challenge for any company selling any product - supply and demand! What is the price where sales drop off, then perhaps oddly enough pick up again when people think something is "high end" and the price goes with it... Supply and demand is very much a real thing almost as certain as arithmetic, at least for much of what we consume on a regular basis (food, clothing, etc...) By the way I hope you saw one of the many comments that note that in the US the price is only $25...

Super cool for sure! That buck-fifty hurts a bit so would have be be sure that this is something i NEED and not just want... Question: can I ask is there a way to go the other way around??? That is to take video from the PC and display the video on the goggles?

As someone who's been flying traditional camera drones I'm just watching and waiting for another year or 2 before I buy or build anything and step into FPV. DJI might as well be an Apple logo with 4 propellers on top. I really would like to get away from it when i step into FPV. Fingers crossed that the competition keeps doing what they are doing. Some attractive HD options have popped up these last few years.

I don't think I saw it mentioned yet but the cosmostreamer also works when the goggles are in audience mode. This means the operator is cable free.

Hi @JoshuaBardwell , I recommend use the balena etcher, is a simpler and great tool for write images, you don’t need to decompress the file and just list the sdcards connected to the computer

Could you just use a usb-c to micro hdmi for video out to your goggles? or would I connect the spliced wire to whatever I power my goggles from, into the goggles the raspberry pie, using just one cable versus two?

Btw, OSD over video also can be turned off for clean video (but inside the goggles OSD shows). Goggles menu, Setting -> Advanced Camera Settings -> Camera View Recording -> OFF

That's awesome. Clean Feed video is essential for intergration in to remote News and live streamed Live Sports. Do you know if it will accept PTZ input from software such as vMix and OBS?

Yo JB - this question is off topic (sorta) but I’ve been playing with the idea of getting a starter RTF bundle but after doing some price checking I’m not sure if it’s the best route. I was looking at the Cetus X kit and a couple of others with similar equipment but I can purchase the Radiomaster Pocket for the same price as the entry level remote. I’m assuming the 60$ box goggles included in basic kits are really mediocre at best - so my question is should I roll with the box goggles and deal with it or should I throw down on something like the HD Zero goggles in anticipation of probably needing them in the future if I really get into the hobby? Also - do the HD Zero goggles require additional modules to be fully functional (ie for analog)? Anyway - thanks in advance! Great channel!

5:00 They also make specific OTG cables for this exact thing. They are kinda hard to find though because there is no specific name for the category of cable. Using the terms "USB-C Y-Splitter Power" will usually pull up some results, and you have to read the description a bit to make sure it's doing exactly what you want, but they do exist.

digiview never worked for me with the my v2 and 3 diferent android divices and all kinds of usb cables and or OTG cables (i does but only 2 out of 10 attempts) so i bought a small laptop and windows cosmo lisens and it worked liks a charm 10/10!! so good, and the licens is only 25€

What’s the advantage(besides latency, which for spectators less important) vs next options: 1) OTG to lightning/type-C with streaming on Apple TV/Chromecast or built-in monitors with AirPlay to mirror DJI Fly app 2) another option, not tested yet. Want to test also Apple lightning adapter for hdmi(it has lighting input make and female plug for charging) to broadcast directly wired on hdmi monitor with DJI Fly App

Any way to get HDMI *IN* to the DJI Goggles v.2? None of the other DJI goggles or many others on the market do not fit me well (I have AS and the v.2 is very comfortable) and I’d like to view flights from my “camera drones” using the RC-Pro’s HDMI output. The DJI Goggles RE (Racing Edition) are the only goggles DJI makes with HDMI in. (micro-usb connector) That was before DJI started making all of their stuff completely incompatible with anything else not manufactured within a few months of each other. Forced upgrades suck. Thanks!

for me, it is DJI should make a video receiver hub to add (amp) several video streams via wifi with Ethernet outputs (4 or 6 or 8) output 1 for each drone. Especially now that Googles 3 shared wifi stream.

Just what I have been looking for. I had a Raspberry Pi4 I just took off Octopi because of my new P1P so I just soldered a 5 volt 3 amp supply to the gnd and 2 5 volt pins and got it all working in less than an hour. Ordering is kinda funky but they responded within minutes and away I went. it was worth $150 to me so people can watch me fly.

$150 might seem like a lot (and it is) but the market is really tiny and reverse engineering DJI's app to goggle protocol probably took them a lot of time. Most normal people would just use the app, it's the event organizers who need this (and maybe youtubers, although it's easier to stream your phone screen while running DJI Fly).

Small live sports broadcasters will love it, as will News, as it'll let the TV director switch between the reporters camera and the drone on a live cross. Once the reporter is framed and focused, the camera operator can fly the drone.

That’s pretty cool! Actually, it’s amazing! But as a simple hobbyist, why? I can get DVR from the O3 air unit. Once I return to home. I think this would be best for a 107 pilot on a job site streaming LIVE!

The Pi can be linked to the hotspot on a phone or mobile router and be taken directly as an input back at the news hub, letting the Director switch between the reporters camera and the drone shot, live. For smaller live sports broadcasters, having the CCU operator be able to open a webpage and adjust the Drone camera to match the main TriAx/Fibre connected EFP cameras for colour is a really big deal.

I'm super interested in the restreaming options. One thing that'll allow you to do is add the rtsp stream to OBS and live stream your flying to twitch/youtube/whatever. Add a gopro on yourself, which can also stream rtsp to OBS and you have a proper HD fpv livestreaming setup.

I can see that being great on a shoot, the director and clients can get a stream in real time over wifi. You can add a $150 billable for that on every mid level job upwards. Would pay for itself in a day. I only fly for fun so $150 is steep. I could get 2/3 of a new quad for that 🙂 Edit: Every cost in life should be measured on quad price exchange rate..

I've seen the video with working combination of Android phone running DigiView app and video signal being pass from goggles (v2) through usb c hub with hdmi output. HDMI cable was connected to the field monitor and was mirroring phone app view. I've never heard of that solution but the video is 1 year old. I've just ordered similar hub and gonna try it with my v2s.

Correct. Digiview and FPVOut and etc use the same "hack" to access the video output. But the G2/Integra changed how the "hack" works.

@@cosmostreamer4773HX is a pox upon streaming. It gets it's data bandwidth so low by using really long-gop compression, so when you get a drop out, it can take up to 30 seconds to return. It was created to get NDI over WiFi, but trust me from practical experience, Do Not Use NDI | HX over WiFi!!

I still have the country code error on my DJI 03 to Goggles 2, , but i did the FCC hack and i can go out of goggles 2 usb c to usb c into my android and get no latency live video out. I can then screen mirror to my TV or computer monitor and achieve some of the same results. Not all the extra camera control... But i can indeed take a friend for a joy ride for free and no effort other than flashing to the latest firmwares. There is no latency that my 54 year old eyes can see. Just thought it might be a good option for some.

What's the max bitrate coming out of the goggles? Just curious if this has changed since I asked back when the product first came out. G2 only records DVR at like 26Mbit, and I think the USB out is even less. Something that can get you closer to "as experienced" would likely have my attention.

There is a 14 mbit/s 1080@60p from G2 with O3 or Avata. And a bit less from Caddx Vista. From DJI Mini3/Mini4 - i don't remember exact value.

I just took a TVbox on Android, installed DigiView there and when I connect my v2 to the tvbox (h96max) the image from the glasses appears on HDMI. The issue price is $40.

Hi Joshua! I'm writing to you from Neuquen, Argentina. One possibility to share the video from the DJI Goggles 2 is to transmit the image via WiFi to a smart TV, or to have HDMI output to a TV box or Chromecast. I think it's more economical than buying the Raspberry Pi and the Cosmostreamer license. Regards!

DJI doesn't make a standalone RX. You would need a set of goggles as the RX and you would be right back where you started.

look i dont have dji but doesnt the dji app let you see either the goggle or 4k output while you fly??? if so i mean that could jusst be mirror to any display wirelessly?

The DJI app works fine if all you need is a display on your phone. If you need actual HDMI out, then it doesn't work. Also, Cosmostreamer does network streaming so you can collect multiple feeds in OBS or something like that.

@@nvrmor023vMix, OBS, BMD/Sony/Ross/GrassValley/etc live video switcher. Can't cast to those. vMix and OBS will take the RTSP or NDI feeds, the hardware switchers will take the HDMI and turn that in to SDI to go directly in to the mixer, then let the CCU operator log in to the webpage and adjust the camera to match the EFP cameras.

I just use DJI Fly app in my phone or tablet and connecting it directly with USB-C to USB-C cable and it works fine for like one, two or three another people. But I can imagine that someone will want to show the flight to the crowd of people at some event on the big screen and then DJI app is not so good solution and real HDMI output is much better way how to do that...

Can you still fly with the ras pi plugged in to the goggles and not have the Remote ID error message appear? I though you need to have the goggles plugged into your phone with the dji fly app to make the remote ID message go away.

If Remote ID prevents to fly It is possible to connect smartphone (Android only) to the Raspberry Pi and it will work together. Some guys reported it is enough to plug smartphone only once after Goggles2 powered on, then it can be unplugged. I could emulate Remote ID too, but affraid to break the US laws.

What's the problem with connecting your phone via the USB-C in the G2 and using the DJI app? that's how I've been showing friends what I see on the goggles. I guess you want to have a more general solution that connects to screens? I feel there MUST be a way... maybe screen sharing your phone's DJI app?

$150 is pretty steep, and being tied to a device ID sucks, though I understand the reason. I'd rather see an activation server though, for those of us that swap around raspberry pi boards for different projects on a regular basis (without spoofing a different board ID). Cool project though

All I know is, I plugged it in, and it didn't work. I think it's because both the Pi and the goggles want to be the Host. In a USB connection, one has to be Host and one has to be the Device. An Android phone can switch modes dynamically. The goggles will not switch. My guess is neither will the Pi and that's why they don't work.

I'm doing Cosmostreamer almost 7 years (started with the very first DJI Osmo family). DJI does not prevent it, because i'm doing more use cases for their devices.

That's not the same thing as HDMI out though, is it? For situations where you need an HDMI feed, or you need a network stream, this tool is irreplaceable. Outputting to a phone screen is not going to help if you are a professional who needs to feed a signal to a camera truck or a director's monitor. It's not going to help if you are running a race and need to import four streams into Trackside or OBS.
