I’m working on my FAA 107 and I don’t even own a drone yet. I won’t have time for my exam until after I’m done moving. I just wanted to say how much I appreciate this video on this drone. It’s great how much you are actually showing the user interface. It’s very inspirational.
Hey man - got my RTK M3E (with the rtk module) at my doorstep before I even got home from Pix4D. Haven’t had a chance to fly it yet. Great meeting you at Pix4D and great video! Keep up the great YT work and good luck on your studies!
Rtk is a must I found. I have the Mavic 3E and was able to get a trial for a local ntrip supplier in my area. Worked great. Drone stayed on track perfect even im high winds. Also all my telemetry data was extremely accurate. I don’t know if it was the rtk that helped. The only issues are that the service for ntrip is expensive and they do have too many base stations at all so I would have to buy my own. The Emlid reach looks cheap and will work but looks like I still need an service provider subscription at 2000 or so a year. I just bought a Leica total station which I needed but why for 36000 bucks can’t that thing have gnss as well. Why can’t one do it all.
Great video as always. Like most, I would also like to see an accuracy comparison. But, I would like a 3-way comparison; Mission No RTK, Mission RTK No Base, Mission RTK with Base Station. I really hope you can make the time to help us decide. I'm most interested in the RTK with no base station. Thanks again.
@@ammadahmad3549 If you refer to an RTK drone, yes it can be flown without a base station. It will be more accurate than mapping with just a GPS drone. I usually get around 1-6-foot accuracy with RTK and no base station. Here is a video with a better explanation. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MnOeUhTcb8s.html
I got this drone last week with the RTK module was playing with it on Christmas….I am waiting for your next video comparison also no rtk, rtk no base and with RTK base…will you run the base station for minimum 2 hours total? also what software will you use PIX4D, Terra or Metashape?
@@jrebollogspr Hi Juan, I hope you're doing well. Take a look at WebODM, it's free and pretty powerful. Let me know if you can successfully upload the images from the M3E.
Hi Rami, great video, I just got my Mavic 3E on Friday. Here in Romania, I was able to get the RTK module, but they didn't have extra batteries in stock sadly. I am really looking forward to putting it to work this week.
Thank you man, much appreciated! Can you pull a kml into the app? And will you be able to load Maps Made Easy on the controler? Can't wait for the RTK module to arrive!
Great video. I've learnt a lot from your videos. My RTK module has just arrived. Looking forward to trying it out and getting some pro tips from your next video!
Hello ! Thanks for sharing this video. Can you tell me about , How to set Auto Focus when mapping? My mavic 3E , It automatically switching to MF . I couldn't find any way to fix it. Thanks.
Rami... Do you happen to have the Mavic 3 thermal? If so, have you ever had any problems with getting it past the converging stage. I can get a good connection and pick up over three dozen satellites, but it just sits there converging and never gets fixed. I wish I knew of somebody in the aRea that could let me try their rtk module to compare results and see if my module is bad.
elo sir, how many duration i need spare for safe return to home for mavic 3 enterprise? my phantom 4 which is 27min flight time i spare18 min for return to home.
Rami, I have been enjoying your videos and great experience with both Mapping and Surveying. I’m curious as to what your workflow is for post processing to get a DTM to into CAD. Do you use the full point cloud? Or export a DXF of the contours into the DWG? Just curious what you do…. Thank you
@L Smith I'm using Pix4Dmapper to process my data. And currently I'm just using the DXF of the contours, but I am certain there must be a better way to get this into my Civil 3D drawing. It just seems like the point clouds are so large. So any help would be appreciated. I enjoy your videos.. Thank you
Hi Rami< David Terrazas here...I met you recently at Pix4D conference in Denver... Anyway, what about very long mapping missions. I have had several mapping missions that the client requested 100ft AGL over 200 acres with a gimbal pitch 75°. It was very slow, but thankfully I have 3 batteries for my P4 RTK drone controller which are hot swappable. The Mavic 3E does not have this feature and purchasing a 2nd controller for the Mavic 3E is quite expensive. I also have a very nice case for my P4 RTK with roller wheels and retraceable handle, plus I keep my props on the drone in this case. It is the only way I would store any of my drones. Every time you have to remove your props and then reinstall them, you are simply introducing more introductions of human error and mishaps. I am really interested in the RTK attachment for the M3E. This attachment for the Mavic2 Enterprise Advance did not go over very well in the past. Your thoughts...?
So I'm an architectural designer in Sedona AZ and i trying to be able to collect non technical (base) survey data for a topographic background file i can insert into my CAD drawing. Is this drone an answer?
Hey Rami, so if your starting out and want accurate surveying data what drone would you use? The P4RTK over this? Seems crazy a 6yr old drone is still more accurate than the latest mavic. Thanks
I just got our Mavic 3E with the RTK antenna. I’ll have to say the RTK antenna is funny opening because it’s $700 and it’s basically nothing. You should do an unboxing when you get one. It would be hilarious. On a side note my guess is this is just an antenna and the drone already has the internals for the RTK.
Hi Rami, How many resolution options does the Mavic 3 Enterprise have? Is it the same as the Mavic 3? H.264/H.265 5.1K: 5120×2700 at 24/25/30/48/50fps DCI 4K: 4096×2160 at 24/25/30/48/50/60/120fps 4K: 3840×2160 at 24/25/30/48/50/60/120fps FHD: 1920×1080 at 24/25/30/48/50/60/120/200fps Thank you very much in advance.
The biggest thing keeping me from buying one and replacing my Phantom 4 Pro V2s is that I cant run third party software like Litchi, Pix4d Capture or Dronedeploy. Why DJI?
Can someone help me understand why the Phantom 4 Pro RTK would cost more than the Mavic 3 Enterprise(even with RTK module), given everything we just learned?
Rami, Thanks for posting these great videos! I'm a contractor and would like to map my projects with the Mavic 3e. What mapping software do you recommend that free or almost free and easy for a carpenter to use? 🙂Thanks!!!
Great video, however i'm a bit scheptical on the "40 min" battery time, the battery went down 16% on an estimated 4 and a half minute flight and it doesn't even seem to be particulary windy, nor does it account for the increase in weight and power draw from the rtk module, so...yeah...not so good, also the estimated time remaining is fluctuating like crazy. on a different note, swapable batteries still beat having to move around with an external power bank which might not even charge as fast as the controller drains it... also i have reserves regarding its reliability and accuracy in higher wind conditions...sure as an entry level drone for smaller surface jobs it seems pretty cool, but i still feel like old faithful, a.k.a. p4rtk is still a better workhorse and a better deal, albeight a little outdated in terms of aspect and software updates.
Hi Rami, looking at the M3E. Adding the RTK module vs PPK increases accuracy, but from a business standpoint would it be more efficient just to fly PPK and purchase an R2A for ground points ? Or am I missing something here. I'm looking at the best way to enter into this market and start a business. Thanks for all of your great information and video's.
insane drone, what about third party apps like dronedeploy, dronelink, pix3dcapture, litchi etc etc ? I see you running firefox so this shouldnt be a problem?
Dronedeploy is apparently going to work on the controller. Looks like DJI listened to a bunch of us and are starting to allow third party apps to the smart controllers. Although not sure if it’s backward compatible with the older smart controllers.
that's all fine but I wonder if this model also has problems like the dji 3 with the signal????i bought a new dji 3 and it had a problem with the signal it could not go more than 1200 meters away
Great video! What are your thoughts on RTK vs PPK for drone surveying? It seems to me that PPK would be preferred over RTK in many scenarios but what drones are PPK compatible? Would RTK be the best option as it is my guess that it would have the ability to use RTK or PPK if needed while PPK drones seem to have no RTK ability at all?
@@kizzjd9578 Okay, so then why spend the extra money for RTK? I would say that most survey jobs wouldn't require real time info feedback that would justify the 2 thousand dollar price tag for an RTK module wouldn't you agree?
@@BARRACUDA3352 Depends what accuracy the end user/client needs. I do quarry surveys for them to calculate their stockpile volumes once every 2 months and I just use a phantom 4 pro but a surveyor has laid out ground control points around the site which are checked every 6 months. This data is good enough for them to use and I've asked the question about rtk and they said its not needed.
Hi Rami, great video as always. Me and my boss are wanting to invest in a drone like this for our site plans. I use Dronelink with my personal dji mini 2 for our smaller site plan aerials. It would be nice to have an rtk enabled drone to have more reliable data. Very interested to see the accuracy test and how well it stacks up to the Phantom 4 rtk.
good video but the way you absolutley slam your Phantom 4 and Mavic 3 Enterprise down on that picnic table though Lol , be more gentle with your drones please. I got anxiety watching you do that Lol
Right at the moment I said out loud “this guy definitely watches Casey Neistat” he cuts in a Casey clip. Right at the moment I finished laughing, he cut in another one.
Rami....your videos are generally very informative and interesting (thank you!) to someone just getting involved with drones but you mention RTK dozens of times but do not explain the acronym or what it means....yes I know I'm stupid but you assume too much.....also the editing is way too choppy and therefore distracting and hard to watch.
@@RamiTamimi If you compare it to the price of trimble sx 10 maybe you are right. But for almost 8000 euro you can take entry level CHCNAV GNSS and Mavic Air 2S. By the way nice videos I even use them sometimes in teaching the new students ;)
I like your video but stop trying to be a knock off of Mark Rober and Casey N. Make your own style and get different music. It’s distracting from your content
