Ian i was just in a mall in fla. This guy tried to sell me one well he said if i buy any drone he’ll give me the mask for free. Then i turn you on and holy sh.. there u are with mask. Thanks mate im goin to get one. Have a merry Christmas and safe new year my friend. Your a true gentleman. Again cheers frm usa. John
That looks a really fun bit of kit, and so simple just in time for Christmas. Thanks again for sharing Ian I'm sure it will be a big hit with lots of flyers.👍👍
Thanks Karen. Yep; it's a bit pricey but you get what you pay for; these are so comfortable and the lens is amazing for your phone; it's like looking at a cinema screen....
Mine arrived a couple days ago, very quick shipping time to the northeastern USA. Tried my first flight this morning and am very satisfied. I hesitated at the price but glad I purchased them. My 63 yo presbyopic eyes still need the reading glasses but they fit just fine under the goggles with no light leaks. Outstanding, glare free visibility and way more confidence in tight spaces. Much easier to pick up details on the ground and frame your shots. I didn’t bother to put my MA2 into FPV mode but these goggles will improve all of your aerial videography and photography. Also perfect for performing inspections (I did some very close up shots of my aging chimney. Highly recommended!
Hey Forest, I wear transition glasses and I was hesitating whether I should purchase them. I hate returning a product and want to get it right before ordering.
@@telebeater I think transition or bifocals would be tougher because you can’t use your whole lens. I often use bifocals but when I fly with the goggles, I put on a full lens of the same power as my bifocals.
Good morning. I bought it some time ago. In my case (with or without glasses) I can't see clearly! Even keeping the iPhone as far away as possible. I had to build a system to push the iPhone another 10mm further away. So, it’s ok. I also had to add a strap to hang it around my neck. Good day. Frank.
@@boatingsibbingandwandering3262 Just look for a phone VR headset, I think the one I have is a Stealth VR Headset its was like £10 on ebay but any phone VR headset will do. Its nothing like a real DJI FPV but its close enough to see if you like it. Have a great day.
I have some similar goggles for the Parrot Anafi & opens up new immersive experience for the mini. It makes my knees go wobbly when I have not used it for a while.
This is the Cadillac phone/goggle solution, but too expensive for me - i went with the $20 ones on Amazon - very usable. FYI I use a Bluetooth portable trackball mouse to interact with the phone if needed.
I will probably get one just to use on a sunny day. The sun here in Bolivia makes it impossible to see the screen most days. Thanks great and useful update.
Yet again another brilliant informative video Ian. I literally brought the air 2s last week after watching your videos and it's my first dji drone. Simply a incredible bit of kit mate so thank you for that. After watching this video I think I will be investing soon in these goggles. And on a separate note I love the area you live pal beautiful scenery just a stone throw. All the best fella keep up the great work 👍
This is the 2nd review I've seen today of this, I cant imagine the resolution is any good when its inches away from your eyes but if it gets just 1 mavic flyer into proper fpv then awesome 🙂
Thanks a lot for this video! I did try to use split screen VR goggles with the Litchi app on a Mavic Mini but the experience was clunky and not very enjoyable. I'll try these as soon as I get them. Enjoy your beers! 😁
Hey Marc! That is so good of you. Cheers for the beers and despite the price, I know you'll have fun with these goggles; they're well made, comfortable and the lens makes things crystal clear. Cheers again matey! 🍺🍺🍺
@@Supernice65 These are no VR glasses. VR glasses only work with apps supporting a split screen with two identical images for left and right eye. But $169 for just some plastic, clothing, zippers and lens is way too expensive! Also in summertime you will experience fogging under the mask caused by sweat, because there is no air ventilation.
@@CharlyDuesentrieb I never had condensation fogging in my goggles ,I never had one issue with the goggles at all,,I know of 4 people who fly fpv only and each one of them give the Google’s 100% ,only downside to these masks is the weight once on your head ad that’s sliding forward but tighten the strap a little and problem solved.
From yours and others reviews I have seen I had to get one Ian and As it happens Mine came in the post today. 👍🏼 Despite the weather not being great I had to take the mini 2 up using it. All I can say is wow what a difference. Have Got an idea for those who fly the mini and mini 2. Were the phone fits there’s quite a big void in there and I Was thinking why not 3d print something that will sit over the lens to protect it and then your mini can sit inside it and zip her up? If thought out well you can stick a couple batteries and cable in there then all you’ll need is the remote to fly. Just an idea.
You can operate your phone app by simply using a Bluetooth mouse or similar, so that you don't have to worry about opening the mask. You can also pair your view or cast it, for buddy viewing. You can also use a camera overlay app for viewing outside of your mask without having to open them. (Resizable, movable, collapsible) I was looking at box goggles anyway, as I can only take split vision goggles for only a few minutes. To me, that makes this more valuable than the expensive goggles.
Sweet, I just ordered a pair of these goggles for my mini 2.. can't wait! So, this is probably a daft question (im a complete noob) but is there any way to get a headset that will look the the direction you are looking in - So, as if you were actually inside the drone and could look up, down, left and right and have the camera track it..? I suppose itd need a fancy sensor in the headset and an ultra fast omnidirectional camera on the front of the drone.. Does anything like that exist? Would be so cool if it did..!
Wow. Sir my drone is DJI mini 2 Se. Is it match to thant drone mask? Is no other application to be installed needed? How to set camera settings tru remote control? Thanx Sir
At £135 it's not too bad price wise it's a niche product so it's never going to be cheap. The first 450 get the cinema screen version too which eases the pain somewhat. It's cheaper than the smart controller, DJI googles and better than a phone upgrade or sunscreen. Long as you have a spotter its worth it to get that shot, you don't have to use it just for fpv. It's got to be worth a punt..
No I am confused. With a similar set of goggles I have and Litchi on my Mavic Air (original) I can click on a little icon in Litchi that looks like a set of square glasses and this splits the image on my phone and I them put the phone into the goggles. Your set seemed to just use the single image on the phone. What am I missing here I think I might be being a little thick ?
If you're using Litchi you're defo not thick :) Some goggles have 2 separate lens that focus on the left and right of the screen, requiring the screen to split and duplicate. Other goggles (like this) have one large lens covering both eyes that view the whole screen :)
Yeah i bought one of those a few months ago. Made me go cross eyed. And the image resolution on my phone looked pants. But great idea. The latency however will eventually catch us out. :-)
Hi lan thanks for all your great vids ive watch them all… lan i have a dji mini 2, what cable do i need for my dronemask to fit my Android phone please mate
Just a longer version of whatever you use to connect your remote to your phone now. If your phone is USB C, then it's a 1 metre USB C to USB C that you want 👍🏻👍🏻
Hi mate, great vids. I had the same idea about controling the phone in the mask with a bluetooth controler. Which one did you use to control your phone ? Keep up the great vids 😉
WOW Ian another great add on but wow the price $169 that's too much for us pensioner flyers but thanks for bringing it to our attention, regards TJK UK.
Not sure if you know the answer to this, but on my older Parrot Bebop 2 when I use the FPV goggles it switches the phone to show the camera view in 2 side by side squares. Not sure if that's how most FPV capable drones work since the bebop 2 is my only experience using FPV goggles. These FPV DroneMask goggles don't seem to do that. is it just a newer way to do it or is it a one screen view so that you can do this with drones not set up for FPV within their software? Is one way "better" than the other? Thanks.
Great video - thanks. Just wandering, as this is not a split screen but a one screen goggle, does it work as well as a screen hood i.e. don't wear it but look into it ?
As far as the goggles go, you can pick up something that does the same thing for far less if you go into your local electronics store(or Amazon) and look for cheap VR goggles for you phone. I picked up a unit for $20 that even had built in Bluetooth speakers.
What a great idea. Thanks for sharing. But is it just me or does the banking look very jagged/bumpy? The turns should be smooth. Was that the FPV mode struggling to lock the gimbal quick enough or something?
Hi Ian really enjoyed video of magimask I've ordered one after ,but I need a longer cable so which one would I need I've got the DJI Mavic Mini ,I got a cable but it just seems to charge and now screen thanks
Hey Ian, I was waiting for fpv goggles like this to be released. How can you access the GPS, settings or quickshots do you have to remove phone completely?
Yes, to be clear, you can't touch the phone screen once it's zipped up, but of course it's very quick to take off your head and unzip if you need to access the menu settings for any reason. 👍👍
You could sew a grommet opening for the small phone stylus. Insert in the upper corner and store along the side. Reach up and move to the screen to control screen icons, the back out of the way to the side. Get a good sew job and no light coming in while giving you access to the screen icons. I also like to change the multifunction compass to the map if I get disoriented. Just a thought that might be passed on to the company for an improvement.
It’s very easy to unzip while still on your head if you need to change a setting. You can see the phone just fine with it unzipped; just slip you finger into the goggles and access your screen.
Maybe a silly question but can this be used ALONG WITH another device for flying? Kinda hard to explain what I mean but suppose I want to fly my drone normally (I use a tablet) but I also want a friend to get a fpv perspective, can he use these at the same time that I'm flying normally? In other words using some kind of cable splitter for the two devices? (dunno if "splitting" is even possible with these data cables)
this is very cool! what resolution does it operate at as my understanding is DJI's FPV system is digital hi res while everyone else is analog and VGA or worse? many thanks!
Looks GREAT. What is the Movie Mask Go that comes with it as a promo now? I have a Samsung Note 9 in a protective case. Looks like I will have to take the phone out of the case to use?
You may have already answered this question, but with the new RC remote for the DJI Mini 3 Pro with the built in screen, is there a way that this device can be sent secondarily to a phone so that it can be used with a device like the Drone Mask so that it can be used FPV? I am ready to purchase the DJI Mini 3 Pro but I need to make sure that I have the option to use the Drone Mask if I choose to do so.
Hi Ian What’s your opinion on motor covers on the mini 2, to stop grit etc fouling the motors? I know they are a gram each, but would they cause over heating or other problems? Cheers Neil
Looks brilliant ;-) would it work with the mavic pro 2 and the smart controller, ? Seems a good price @ $169 = £128 -ish . When they eventually get litchi working with the mini 2 (which i have too) this could be even a better buy ! Keep the coming Ian .....love your work
@@IaninLondon Silly question time ! So the phone is in the mask and connects directly to the smart controller? Obviously I have never tried it like that!
Another very cool and informative video, thanks! I may be talking outa my arse here, but aren't the metal rods in the phone holder also the antennas? So maybe they should be pulled out even when not holding the phone, assuming now that I'm not talking outa my arse! ;-)
@@IaninLondon I dug out the user manual, the antennas are in the plastic part at the end of the metal rods according to that. So I was talking outa my arse, even though they may be more efficient when pulled out further... ;-)
SO AMAZING!! I'm about to order one, just curious sir, does it record the screen with the fpv tilting or does the it record it level? Insane you can control all the main options with the remote! Thanks for highlighting all of this Wooooo Hoooo #NEXTLEVEL and such a great price and all 5 star reviews on the site so must be a great company also
Your joking right? Its a $200 phone holder. No receiver, no screen, just some fabric with a headband that you have to unzip every time you want to change the settings.
@@tocarules Just a bot thats making a cut. Amazon has a bunch of them too. Like the Nigerians that need your money to unlock their millions. Either than or they escaped the center for re', a/rd/ted
Went to their site to find out if they ship to Canada and they send you to PayPal to supposedly find out, but ended up charging my card 3 times, no confirmation, no information about shipping. Fortunately my bank blocked it as fraudulent, but your mileage may vary
I am at a loss. Phone in a pair of goggles. What's new? Was doing this way back with ten quid goggles and my Spark. And the price is outrageous. You can get proper fpv goggles for less. What am I missing?
You can buy budget drones. You can buy budget goggles;. Some goggles are crap; proper fpv goggles will have latency and low res unless they're absolute top spec. your call...
@@bobef90 Yes, I admit I did think this, but when o tried them out, they were so comfortable and the lens view of the phone so crystal clear and immersive, I figured that's where the money is... But of course, cheaper ones exist 👍🏻
Sorry. It $170 is too high for this novelty. Many different Masks to choose from to turn your phone into google cardboard. And for a lot less. But nice piece of kit!
Have you used other goggles and if so would you recommend these over the others , I'm just after the best experience possible and don't want to go buying everyone that's out there to compare them .
