Love your channel Darren always good info, well presented, think I've sorted my decision out now and will be going with this drone. I'm sort of gutted though, as I would opt for the Air 3 I think with the combo kit if it wasn't for the heavy handed drone laws in the UK. Irony is in the EU with cert C1 its no different than the mini 3 Pro.... irritating for sure as I'll be using it there and the better drone would be good in the mountains. Its all the restrictions on where you can fly them, like not around built up areas etc, which is simply ruling out shots like these here in the UK with a better/bigger drone.

Love your work Darren. The minis are an awesome category all their own - an escape from over-regulation of hobbyists and now becoming a boon to commercial flyers as well. Great video Darren, I have the mini 3 and tried a night flight a few days ago, it was all going well until I hit record, then the green LEDS switched off and I lost sight of it completely. I’m fairly experienced so thankfully didn’t panic but for a short time I’d completely lost it. I hit the return to home and thankfully sighted it after hearing it above me, I then cancelled the RTH and realised I was still recording so stopped this and it lit up again! Any thoughts on this please?

That's the big problem with the fly app, you just can't control sharpness, contrast and saturation

@@NateLL8767 probably they will but right now but to get the most out of the camera you need full control of these 3 mentioned. You can easily bring back sharpness in post but can't tone down an overly sharpened image in post. All the drones using this app as it is ,is a huge let down. They are using imulated LOG/ D-cinelike. This drone is only for hobbyist and maybe used as a back up. It's not for professional use. It could be if we had control of the 3 adjustments. Some are fooled that you can get amaizing results but it's not. Were after definition/ details/ clarity not sharpness

Pretty decent for a small sensor although it looks like there is a lot of noise reduction going on in camera. What I am really interested to know is if the Mini Pro will be backwards compatible with the original Smart Controller. That would be useful and would probably see me picking one up to compliment my Air 2s

Hopefully, but a more likely pairing is RC Pro - being its O3, and Fly App. Smart Controller runs Fly via a kludge. It works, but not natively. Consider, we now have 3 controllers: RC-N1, RC-Pro, and the new one. Them multiple generations of aircraft, running multiple OcuSync versions and split across 2 Apps. DJI can likely pair any combination, but not optimally, nor sales/profit friendly. Whatever sells more hardware, that's what DJI will provide. I need my Air 2 (not "S") to work with RC Pro. Air 2S does, but os there demand, and incentive to develop FW for it? Not so much. Sold Smart Controller expecting a phase-in of RC Pro. M3 and A2S ain't exactly getting it. Then there's my $1200 Autel Beast Smart Controller, that supports exactly ONE series: Evo 2 Pro. Lite/Lite+ & Nano/Nano+ running 2.7ghz video - sooooo new controllers. Drone Makers need to start Trade programs like Smartphone companies do now.

"Old" SC is certainly not going to happen with DJI providing now a 2nd "cheaper" controller. As much I would like myself, I can't see that happen and I even doubt the RC Pro in the first months.

.... I'd say your overhyping it. This is cool.... but comes with a 1000 styled prices tag.... You can get the air2s for that price and get more bang for your Buck if you don't need sub 249g

Having a dedicated controler makes a lot of sense as well so you don't have to rely on your phone or possible app issues. I use Android and DJI apps are always a little wonky compared to Apple. Really curious what software is running on the controller and if it's a custom in house software.

The highlight rolloff is quite poor (especially at the beginning). I just wondering if you could get a better dynamic range with a picture profile. Talking about more advanced features, it's not really clear if is it possible to shoot in 10bit and with any LOG / picture profile. Could you please clarify this'? thanks.

@@rodzinireal4171 I sort of understand where you're coming from. When the 2002 K12 Nissan Micra was launched I absolutely hated the design. As time wore on I came to have a more neutral view of it and bought one in 2012. I kept that car for nine years, much longer than I've owned any other vehicle. It fitted my needs perfectly and I came to love it. People's aesthetic preferences can change. This drone will be a massive success, the styling is irrelevant, its function that matters.

Although this drone seems a bit expensive for its size, it actually looks like it is good value for money. I suspect this will be DJI's best selling drone ever. If not worldwide, then at least in Europe and America, where the 250g weight plays such an important role in where drones can be flown.

In all honesty, this drone footage looks the exact same as my Mini 2 to me.. I have some footage on my channel and I cannot see a difference low light or daylight... I'd say this Mini 3 pro is nowhere near air 2s

the footage when viewed on youtube at least looks almost as good as the mavic 3, of course the M3 has way more detail and resolving power, but for such a tiny drone, dji have smashed it again, i am already waiting for that nano+ vs Mini 3 comparison when you get time

Mini 3 is out of this world.. Big propellers yet very silent. is it more silent than mini 2, Darren? Image quality is awesome Gimbal pitch is the best. With this kind of pitch, hopefully we can create a real 360 panorama photos (no hole at the top what so ever) Mini 3 potentially kills air 2 s (which I plan to buy some day.. Take a bow my friend 🙂 I currently own and fly a Mini 2, which was based on your test & review videos, and you've done it again, I would absolutely love to own and fly a Mini 3 Pro. I'd take good care of it, it would get plenty of use, and I would enjoy every minute. Go on, pick me, you'd make me a very happy man 🤞

Hi, what is your thoughts on the range for the Mini 3 Pro for signal and distance? I’ve had the Mini 2 for a long time (owned all the DJI Drones) and admittedly have FCC unlocked on my Mini 2 so always had great range and signal. I’ve ordered the Mini 3 Pro with RC for next week and selling my Mini 2. I’m now worried about the restricted range we get for CE. Any thoughts? I want to use mine for hiking and up in the hills along with photography so good signal is essential

Just got mine in today, DJI Mini 3 Pro w the RC remote and DJI completely blew this one out of the water for the price, amount of features, SIZE and QUALITY! Making a trip to Utah w my girlfriend for my birthday for three nights, kayacking the Horse Shoe Bend and I cant wait to see what i can capture! Love the content man thanks!

Great review, didn't realise you were from Blackpool Darren, I lived there before I moved to Tenerife. Been thinking of buying the mini 3 so when I come back to the UK for holidays I could fly it. The Spark and Air I have are over 250grams so I cant see how I could fly those not having an address in the UK and being over 250 grams. Or do you know a way round it for me.

Thanks Darren for all your time and work you put in this review ! One thing I noticed is that the horizon is a few degrees off, in all videos until now, you made with this mini3. Is it possible to do a callibration to get this better ?

Seems more noisy than Nano+...Comparing both drones i see: 1. Dynamic Range is inferior in DJI 2. In low light have a lot of problems in encoding, is crushing blacks (damn it DJI, is the eternal issue at your drones). 3. Pretty high noise, considering you are not in full night but at sunset. 4. Damn....those Highlights are toasted, no chance to save it...Is giving a lot of contrast that forces whites in night to blow out and darks are crushed...if does not have a contrast control, will be a failure for nightshots. Nice review! Keep it rolling !
