I‘m from Germany and I just registered my own business here to be able to make such videos and photos. I started by asking people who want to sell their house if I could take some pictures for them which they then use on the internet. Sadly a lot of them aren’t answering my requests, I’m absolutely going to try out some new stuff like airbnbs etc. Thanks for your videos, they really inspired me :)
Darren, Darren, Darren!!! Thank you so much for this video, I’ve watched it countless times now and the other day I took a leap of faith and approached 2 local Airbnb hosts and also my local estate agents (who I actually rent from) I have 2 Airbnb properties booked in for April/may and the sales team at the estate agents are very excited at the prospect of a possible trial period with me … The Airbnb properties are both advertising “great countryside views” (without the photos) and one has an outdoor pool, BBQ and entertainment area plus very high ceilings so when I offered unique perspectives from inside and out - she’s agreed straight away to having between 12-15 photos at £50 per image each - it may not make me rich, but this one job alone will have paid for my drone!! Thank you so much!!
can confirm it works AFTER you spend $1500 on the drone and proper ND filters and accessories, $300 on a part 107, $300 in software plugins for video editing software, another $250 for audio and SFX files..
This is brilliant, just what I needed price wise, I’ve followed you for a while and very impressed and I’ll try some of your techniques out . Big thanks Carlton
Every time I see footage from this drone it impresses me more and more! Lovely videos, hope someone is paying you for these as you thoroughly deserve it.
Fascinating video but can I ask some prctical questions? You are flying the sub-250g Mini 3 Pro. do you need a licence to take these shots? Do you need permission from the hotels? What about "interesrted persons around the pools? As a beginner I am confised by the ever-changing rules. Any advice would be appreciated.
Remember that certain Countries you will need to get a license in order to make a profit or for nonprofit organizations. Like in the USA you will need to get a part 107 from the FAA. No matter what the weight of the drone is.
Yep, in the U.S. size of the drone does not matter. If you use it in any way to make a profit you have to register the drone and get a Part 107 license from the FAA. Even if it's a Mini 3.
@@DMProductions Hi Darren. Yesterday I went out and followed your tip. I took some footage of a Hotel at Douro River. Can you give me your feedback if it is any good? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AQjcyBJypF4.html
Hi Darren, I’ve had mini 3 pro few months now and loving it. I’ve been watching your videos and getting hints and tips. I would of never thought of getting paid for my footage. I actually gave away some footage I shot at a holiday park last month 😅
Hello Darren, amazing way to control de drone! Thanks a lot for making the video! I have a question if you can help me... So how do you normally charge? -Do you give to the costumer all the raw videos. -Do you colored and give them the videos. -Do you also do the montage and sound effects too How does it normally work with your costumers? I'm just starting and I want to know how I can approach to potential clients Thank you so much!
Hello. Great video. Had a question about the filters. I use freewell ND filters with 4k 25fps. The video image is always blury on the bottom and sides. I compare to yours where everything is sharpe. Any suggestions?
Loving your videos. Doing the video in 4K 25fps Auto with a Nd 64, when you edit and grade would you suggest to apply one of your Luts?. What editing software do you use. Will your Luts work in Filmora.
Only thing is, if you're selling the footage you need a model / property release right? Or does it not matter as much if you are selling directly to the owner of the property? Otherwise it could be a good way to get into a lawsuit. I'm not sure, I just know if you were selling property footage to others, you'd need an agreement. Any thoughts?
Darren thanks for yet another great tutorial. Would you recommend SPOTLIGHT for moving objects (boats, cars , bicycles etc.) as well or do you prefer active track or POI? Which is a better way to film?
hey, spotlight is brilliant yes for moving objects, along as your not controlling both lol! active track is good if I want the drone to follow me on a bike etc, but for moving objects to get the best quality use spotlight
If I sign up for Artlist and use music for my videos and then I stop paying in a few months for any reason, do I have to go back and remove all the music and SFX from my videos? My thought is if I sell something to a customer with music and SFX and then stop paying for Artlist, what happens then?
Darren, thank you for all that you do for the drone community! My wife and I are planning a trip to Europe from the US ( Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Austria ), visiting family. I would like to bring our drone. You have some great videos on traveling with your drone. Do you have any additional advice or resources for using a drone in the EU or the individual countries listed? Your videos have taken me from a true beginner to more of an amateur enthusiast, thanks!
Ah nice one you will love Europe. I haven’t really done that style video I may do soon but Google will help you out faster, most of the eu counties all have very similar drone laws. If you bring in a small drone like the mini drones you will have much less issues. Thank you and enjoy the trip
Amazing video, thanks for sharing. I'll definitely try this next time I go on holiday! Would you say as someone starting out that it's worth taking all the shots and editing the footage before showing them even without knowing that they are interested?
WOW! Great job, Darren and thanks for the great suggestions!! A watermark is a great way to protect the videos! Wondering where you shot all these shots? We'd love to travel there sometime!!
@@DMProductions thanks Darren. I guessed that. But I wondered what might happen if you went beyond that? What would the drone be thinking at that point?
Are you required to have any kind of licence or Accreditation to fly your mini3 pro over populated areas or at night? Here in Australia you need a RePL (Remote Pilots Licence) just to be allowed to fly over crowded areas or busy roads or at night
You also arent allowed to fly it out of sight or control the drone via its screen. You have to be able to control it and see it turn etc at all times with yur own eyes, unless you have a RePL. which costs up to $2000 to get -_-
Facts I still remember the first 4 days I had my M3p I made the money I spent on the drone 3x 😂😎🔥 this thing is more than a drone shits a money maker 🔥🔥
Hopefully, they include the Spotlight or even the ActiveTrack feature in the 7x Zoom on the Mavic 3! That would help us a lot!! I will try to write DJI on Monday, if there is a plan to implement that features and if not, they have to implement them immediately!! :D
Thanks Darren, great video 😀 One question, how do you arrange for their payment? Do you give them your bank account details, within your own country I see no problem but, how about when you are abroad? Iban, swift etc? Cheers
This is GOLD, such a great video and wealth of information is inspirational. I'm currently in Croatia from Australia and doing the exact same thing here with my Mini 3. Thanks Darren for all the incredible content, you inspired me to get my first drone being a photographer previously having a drone is a complete game changer. One question, are you shooting using DLOG and then colour grading in post or do you use the dji auto setting. I'm obviously used to editing photo's but haven't quite figured out the dlog colour grading on post.
Once again, stunning videos and a great explanation of this subject Darren, thank you. Quite Frankly I am struggling just to get a transparent watermark on my videos!
Great video, fantastic idea, do you bother with contracts? Being abroad, I doubt it. Who would you typically contact at any given hotel? Do you edit on location or when you return home? TIA David
Hiya, I have a question, I'd love to start doing stuff like this with a drone but the mini 3 Pro is way out my price range and the mini 2 is pushing it. Would it be a good idea to start with a mini 1 or try to save funds for at least a mini 2? Then I'm into the 4k territory. Thanks for all the great videos.
@@DMProductions awesome, thanks for the reply. Time to start saving then lol. Ye seen that video and it was super helpful though having trouble with Etsy as their shop sign up website is terrible.
Great video again Darren, do you have any other tips regarding whether or not you need to have any formal training/licence (other than operator/flyer ID) for this type of commercial use and also recommendations on insurance cover needed
Great shots mate and great tutorial:) just a quick question: do you need to have a vat registered business? Or they happy to give cash in hand for those kind of shots ?
How do you get around flying in cities for famous landmark shots? It was one reason why I purchased a drone. I have read that flying in London for example is not allowed. I also have flysafe overdone app and it seems all cities across the world have no flying zones.
Hi Darren, I have always loved the idea of doing this but am worried about how my license works and if I would get in bothered for doing this, Does doing this require you to obtain any type of license that allows you to sell your content for money or can I still do this with your standard personal license. Thanks :)
In the USA you need a part107 to make any Money with a drone. In the uk you don’t need a licence for the mini 3 but getting commercial insurance is a good idea
Do you change the resolution when posting to instagram as i think im doing something wrong as my videos dont come out that good even though i filmed in 4k
Thanks a lot for that tutorial. Knowing what to charge in any business can be critical. Your point about how much a hotel might charge for a weeks stay is a great clue. Do you approach the hotel in person or send a water marked video to them? Apart from the money side some great films you've made. You were definitely one of the deciding factors in me buying the mini 3 pro. Thanks again
thank you that means a lot, yes I contact the hotel directly and often in the same email or message I'll show them previous video/photos I've done ( like a portfolio )
thanks for the tips my man. shocked at how much they pay for simple video. shame spotlight isn't in 60fps as in 30 you'll get stutter if panning slightly too fast
Thanks for this suuuuper useful video, Darren. I have just upgraded my drone to DJI MINI 3 PRO. Awesome piece of technology 🤙 Quick question: How can I charge & receive money from hotels / brads? Do I need an LTD or you charge only cash? 🤓 Thanks in advance for your answer, buddy!🤝
I have recently sold a few minutes of footage to a tv company for the use in a upcoming ch5 documentary that they are doing in Coventry. Was chuffed that they contacted me .
@@DMProductions cheers for that , this is the link for the video that there having if you notice when the drone goes up you can see a building with a domed glass roof in the background that is west orchards shopping centre which there programme features quite a lot ,they are also taking clippings of the city views . Link - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rxc9WoiWcQ8.html
it's consider cheap now to make aerial photos and videos, before one need to charter a helicopter and the photographer have to communicate with the pilot not counting all those paper works to fly, drone photograper need to put a premium price for the work as to guard the efford
Hello, today an unpleasant thing happened to me. The drone lost its signal, or rather the controller, while taking pictures. The drone is great, it started the return at the given flight level according to the settings, unfortunately the controller did not even report this, on the contrary, it disconnected, lost the signal and could not restore the connection even when returning. Nothing responded and so I witnessed the drone landing uncontrolled. When I was looking for the problem, many people wrote to me that it happens during photography, mainly at 48 Mpx.
