I’ve done something similar, I flew my air 2s out to the oil rigs in gulf shores, Alabama, and I was very surprised that it only used 25% to fly 3 miles out. Around 65% remaining I started to head back, and I noticed that it was only flying up to 22mph, that’s when I realized that the winds helped it get over so quickly and coming back it was fighting the winds…it was half a mile away from getting to store. You served me well Roger😢
Mental note: have a pre-flight checklist and make sure you have enough "fuel" for a round trip calculating the worst case scenario (high winds) and an emergency landing spot before using the Mini 3 Pro
I know this is a range test but got distracted with how stunning the footage quality looks like. The view is so breathtaking! DJI Mini 3 Pro definitely did a fantastic job in capturing the beauty of the place!
Beautiful island . I have the battery plus and FCC as well and have took it out over land to 22k feet so far and landed with 30% battery remaining . Great video
i remember countless times travelling in iceland i pushed my battery to its limits... and trying to navigate the drone back to me as it started descending automatically. this video brought that trauma back haha
Atmospheric video. I took my Mavic3 out over the Irish Sea to 10.182km (using RCPRO)..landed with some battery power left..could have made 12/15 km but the 'fear' sets in....Great scenic video.
Nice video with beatiful views man and most of all, I am glad you got your drone back safely! Unfortunatelly, I lost my drone just over a week ago, when trying to push the battery to its limits. I skipped the RTH alert, did not take in consideration the strong winds, and it fell just a few meters away from the homepoint, in a very rough area, full of bif trees and mud.. Tried to locate it for 2 days in a row, but could not find it. Happy for you though! 😊🙏🏼
same happened to mine in a building complex.. no one ever returned it. I learnt my lesson after that: Apple Airtag to be able to track it by GPS and now I wrote my phone number and a money reward if anyone finds it hehehe this way I will never again lose it
@@rafaelnasser1636 I am sorry to hear you had a similar experience. I also think that adding an AirTag for extra tracking and some other info in the drone, will defo make it harder to loose it. Thanks for the tips!
@@AntonioGoncalves it happens! I bought another one the same weekend hehe now I got the airtag + I wrote in permanent pen my phone number and a R$1000 reward (thats like 150 dollars) if found. Now it wont get lost ever again 😅
Beautiful island, thanks for sharing. You were smart turning back home at 50% but, personally, I would have come back at 60-65% and just found a closer launch area after battery replacement. Another range tester lost the new DJI mini 4 Pro in the woods (and couldn't find it after days of searching) because he pushed the battery to the limit instead of thinking "Gee, maybe I should turn around at 50%".
Stunning, my favorite place since I saw 'the beach' in 2000. Could visit it 2012 first time and would love to come back with my mavic pro 2. Great video
Start flying against the wind, so when you have to return, the wind will help the drone come back faster without wasting battery. and go as low as possible as well cause it's easier for the drone to fly at lower altitude. at sea level you can simply fly home at 10m altitude, no need to worry about obstacles.
Flying so low over open water is very dangerous. That is how many drones become submarines. Of course at 10m you can have gusts of wind which make it fly lower, and big waves that make it wet, but the worst part is: The drone has issues measuring the current altitude because of the water reflecting its sensors back. It could decide to go much lower because it thinks the ground level is a long way below it. I would never fly 10 m above water.
@@geert6734 In such a long range it is tricky. You go up as he did looking for reception, but then at the clouds level the wind is massive and it really drains your batteries. Lowering the aircraft to the lowest point where reception is still good and still away from the critical low level from the water (you are 100% correct with the altitude measuring issue) then you have the best option to return safely. The point is to get lower wind, better reception and avoid becoming a submarine.
Watched most of your videos in Russian from your main channel. The videos are so great that I watch them in English again. You brought me to the world of FPV and made a desire to film and make videos. Thank you for that ! Good luck with the new channel .
The beach was a classic movie. Amazing flight man. I am from the Caribbean islands and must use that scene from the movie on a future video. Well done!
Man Ole man this had my blood pressure up lmao 🤣. I've flown many drones before finally posting on RU-vid. I wish I had started this content stuff a long time ago. But I'm here now. Nevertheless, I learned my lesson about doing this. One; your drone knows best lmao 🤣. I got caught In trees thankfully neighbors helped and brought long ropes and tall Ladders to help me get my drone from the tall trees. I've lost a drone in high winds not knowing to put it in sports mode. My first drone went to hell and back lmao 🤣. Once I upgraded I was ready and understood the do's and don'ts lol. Nevertheless, I was confused as to why the RTH happened so fast. Then I read the title and understood oh he was so far out the drone had already calculated how much juice it needed to get back. Alone with some reserve! That also happened to me. I didn't understand and canceled RTH that's how I lost my drone in the trees. It rained that day as well. So once it stopped raining I came back and found it. Now I fly Autel Evo Lite Plus.
Wow! Wow! What’s video! I felt what you was feeling when it was coming back! I just bought this drone today. At the end you say “if you want to fly this far, you need” I can’t tell what you said is needed?
Excellent…I only was able to get about 2.8 miles with the mini 2 ….your range is close to what I can do with my Air2s…I too fly over the ocean to get my photos between the wind and birds I worry I will loose my favorite drones ….but I keep flying because it’s kinda a rush……beautiful view there ..thanks for sharing
Great videos as I said in the previous comment. May I suggest ideas for your future videos: Tips for filming, manual camera settings, ND filters and etc. It would be great to see some tips for post production, color grading and video editing tips and examples. Thank you, and good luck with your new start !
if you have bought the drone in a country where FCC is legal then it's already set up. If you have bought it in Europe or wherever FCC is illegal you can't do anything about it.
Got mine love it other than no charged plug in. Wants 30w. USA we have almost everything but 30. I still charge and fly it but worried about batteries. Dji is obviously sold out of their charges. Reddit threads say it's okay but a lot of money for thread answers
Well done, very brave with a non sponsored MM3 😄 I live in Thailand, my Mini 3 pro has only CE, not FCC..my Mini 2 has the FCC hack though, might try it when I'm down there.
i hope you have read the thai flight conditions. or not? in Thai airspace you are only allowed to fly 110 m high. very nice pictures but they break the drone permit for Thailand
Great footage ! Sorry to ask but do you get clearance from anyone to fly at 500m . Is it in a restricted fly zone area ? Or do you just ‘go for it ‘ and enjoy the moment ?!
I think you don’t know the rules about Thailand and flying drone but if any official will see this video and he still staying a Thailand he will get in big trouble. I notice from other people they have big trouble and have to pay fine 50,000 THB
Great footage, wish the Mini 3 had longer range, can you tell me which mobile network did you use for the drone in thailand or did the drone controller not need a data connection?
Amazing stuff! It's good that you fly high as if not, someone can complain and you can get into trouble. I flew my Air 2 over a year ago from a long tail boat there and was one of the scariest flights. 1. It was constant shoutings from boat guys and 2. My phone got overheated and lost the connection with the drone, while on the boat 🤣
@@man.fromearth Well, actually no. I took it back with controllers RTH option, and then put the phone in a bucket of water for 7-8 mins to cool it down. But, it was scary to be honest.
what is the S (th) everytime speaking? where are you from? did you test the distance with dji rc too? or is the old controller better in you opinion.. thank you and keep going
