I got the osmo action 3 when it was first released. had some issues but i waited until dji was able to provide the firmware update last december. all good as of now. i think that the soft focus issue is being exaggerated by some RU-vidrs for views to be honest. i also have the Action 2 and it's pretty darn good for FPV, but for a real workhorse action cam the Action 3 takes the crown. No worries for the Action 3 in my opinion as the issue has been resolved and I really hope that this issue can be finally put to rest.
Did some research and watched a lot of videos about the Action 3 in the last two weeks. I was still very unsure if it's any good. Needed an opinion from Faruk, and now here it is, finally: I'm sold :) Thank you.
Still got the original, and the original pocket, brilliant cameras and still very useable, just ordered the Action 3. Alongside my Insta 360 X2 brilliant for moto vlogging. Yes I’m obsessed with Action cameras too🤣😉
Years pass, channel language changes, subscriber count increases 10x but there is one constant; the BMW Z4 stays with iPhonedo. Love to see it, respect!

Awesome review! You have so much equipment available that you should do more comparison videos with multiple action cameras set up in handheld rig. That would give some perspective how these compare to GoPro, Insta360 and even how they compare to their earlier models for people thinking about upgrades. This is an amazing channel and your production quality is one of the best in whole youtube.

FYI he is not allowed to talk about the focus issue, it was part of the agreement with DJI in order for them to sponsor this video. I would get an action 2, the action 3 focus issue is real, I went through 4 of them before I gave up. You notice how he only showed a few seconds of close up talking head shots with the action 3. Wonder why.
@@iPhonedo Ok fair enough, I believe you. I just went through four units as I pre-ordered before release and went back-and-forth with DJI and every unit had the focus issue. I did however with my last unit try the lens fix where you slightly turn the lens about 3 mm one way or the other and it did fix the focusing issue. So it was a misalignment between the sensor and lens element at the factory. What is your build date? I guess maybe they fixed it so if I get another one of these, I would like to look for the correct build date. The date is listed on the box.
No. Wrong. I purchased 2 of the Action 3 cams, updated firmware: 1) Audio is out of syc with video and DJI knows it. NOT fixed yet. Still. 2) Focus is not fixed and DJI claims a "parameter" was too large and firmware fixed it. NOT fixed. Cameras purchased with build date (on box) of Sept 2022 (and around then) have both problems. DJI still shipped the inventory to sell to us. I really wanted to keep this camera but sent them back. DJI support is fully aware and still has not fixed the issues. Still.

Adobe premiere has a audio sync function works good enough even when there is only one sound the same in 1 hour long video it will find it and sync it... O need for clapping
Great video, thanks a lot. Last time I bought an Fdr-x3000 watching your video. If I could get rid off it, I would because of the leveling issue. This horizontal lock is something I needed in sony, since I don't want to use a gimbal for an action camera.
If you really care about video/image quality go for go pro 11 (the background has less details in DJI it is like 80% only rendered). Buy Dji if you value the usability/ease of use features mote like the magnet mount that is really good and the front screen.
No focus issues? Two and a half weeks ago I send my Action 3 back to DJI, because it was was out of focus. Today I received another one. Let’s see how sharp it is now.

Oh, I'm still stuck on a HERO3. Obviously it is already the replacement delivered under warranty after the original one stopped working on the first day of use.
I love everything about Dji Action 3, except the image quality. And I hate everything about the GoPro Hero 11, except the image quality. 😆 I'm gonna wait for GoPro hero 12. Few months left.
@@xxsilver_gamingxx389 I got the GoPro 12 over the Dji Action 4. Better image quality, much better stabilization, without cropping in at higher fps. They solved the overheating issues. I already got the mic adapter that I connect it with Dji mic. So, it’s the perfect setup for my needs.

@@xxsilver_gamingxx389 I did some tests and I got inconclusive results about overheating. I’m gonna do some more tests without the cage, and let you know. I’ll also upload the video on my channel. However, there are no freezes at all. Runs perfectly fine and responsive, moreover, the image quality is stunning and stabilization is unbelievably smooth!
I had the first original Osmo, “the gimbal like one. “ I always thought they had great amazing color For such a small camera. I have a couple of Insta 360 cameras now and I wish someone would make aND filter to some how put on the X3 camera lenses.
Does anyone know if the DJI action 3 is compatible with my Google pixel 7 pro? I have seen multiple comments on numerous videos saying they can't pair the camera with certain phones. Thank you
does it allow usb c pass through charging? can i record and charge the camera at the same time? does it have loop recording? can i set the camera to record 24/7 and auto rewrite on top of the oldest footage? does it have bluetooth? can I connect a bluetooth mic to it? does it have aux input so I can wire connect a microphone?
Mine doesn't. And I'm tired of the current action cam situation. GP have made some weird decisions in the past but are still no1 on the market. And that sucks. But if you really want the best out there (it pains me to say) buy a gopro. The image is super crisp. And better in lowlight. Stabilization is top. But you gotta buy more batteries... If you don't need one right now, I'd say wait for "a" next generation. DJI brought faulty products on the market. Some were focusing, some weren't. Then they tried to "fix" that with a firmware update that enhanced digital sharpness and that looked really awful... Everyone tells you something different until they're affected. I'm no different. I'd say wait.
@@iPhonedo Ah, gotcha, so it's not just cropping and allowing to "uncrop" if you want - it is shooting and then you would crop/punch in to change it - makes sense!
i paused quite a few times on your footage shot and the images are extremely soft if not blurry (check the grass/trees). dynamic range was not impressive too, especially on the clouds, seems extremely blown out. i agree with everything else and the ease of use, but seems like you may have a dud camera.
im looking for a replacament of gopro 10 but for me as an angler and fishing youtuber hindsight is a must have feature, does dji have any prerecoding option?
Well if I would have got one in focus I would at least have a chance to hate it or even like it for that matter. I just watched espen travel channel and he just purchased one with the sept 22 production date and it was out of focus at the close focus distance. I can't really believe DJI have not recalled these cameras from that preoduction date. I have a feeling the big box stores, amazon and others have a bunch of these laying around and are still selling them. I will stick with the A2 for now because it is actually in focus.
meh, there is a use case for default size, but there is a use case for smaller form factor say: action2. Be it MTB bike or a drone going crazy fast ( yapistir!)

Mine was awful, horribly soft. It was a shame as i loved the body and features of the camera itself. Sent it back in the end and to add insult injury got chased by UPS for outstanding shipping costs when dji failed to pay for the overseas shipping once they received it back.
See this is what I heard as well coming out of these. I have a Hero10 and have had zero issues like this. People say overheating with Hero10 but zero issues with that as well. Only BS is as it relates to shooting in manual modes. Always seems a lot better in auto no matter what I do to it.
Finally you've made it! I've using my first gen Osmo action but sold it to get a new one because of the 100/120FPS video modes. I've been watching a lot of videos from people who bought the 3 and was going to get the 2 due to the focus issues a lot of people were getting but found that it has a very short recording time and since I'm going on snow trip, I just want to press record and let it go, so I ordered the 3 yesterday... Regarding the sharpness, the 2 is a lot better than the 3. Is the focus issue really solved? Everyone is talking about the new firmware but I found that it adds sharpness to the whole image and it is oversharpned on the background and still the vlog style FPV person is out of focus... I'm praying to see if I will get one with that issue solved... Was this the reason you've you've only made the video almost half a year after it was released? You've made me purchase the first one and I actually sent your video comparing it to the GoPro and Sony to new owner, did you compare the 3 side by side with the 2? Do you felt it was out of focus? With the focus issue solved it looks very promissing! Thanks, love your channel!
Actually the Osmo Action 1 is way better than the Action 3 in resolution. Action 3 only great on 4k 60fps when the Rocksteady is Off, again if the Rocksteady is off.
Why image quality of dji is worst than gopro ?! Bigger sensor should get better details , dynamic range and low light ... but it is oposite. All of this go pro does better . Dji shame...
@@eadc888 its the same width like hero 10/9/8 etc. but higher ,that is why is acpect ratio is 8:7 , not 3:2 in dji, and in dji is widther and higher that hero 10. You can check it
