DJI Osmo Action 4 Cinematic Hiking Vlog 

DJI Osmo Action 4 settings: - 4K25 - Rocksteady + - FOV Standard (Dewarp)/Ultra-Wide - Shutter 1/50 -1/200 - WB 5500-6500k - ISO 100-1600 - Sharpness -2. NR -1 - Color D-Log M Most of the shots were shot on a tripod, while some were shot handheld and most shots were set to a 1/50 shutter speed and exposed with the Freewell ND filters (geni.us/qjuV5LX) for natural motion blur, except when shooting handheld, in which case I used 1/200 for better stabilization. Everything was edited and heavily color graded in Final Cut Pro. What a great cinematic vlog! You can't even tell that this was shot with an action camera. Really tells how good OA 4 and your color grading & film making is. It's really cool to see what you do around southeast asia. Would like to even see more.

Really great looking video. I just can't accept that all of these shots are him setting up his camera, doing his thing, and then having to go back and get the camera. I know my lazy ass isn't doing all that. If I want to go hike, I want to go hike. Stopping every 10 min to get a shot woul detract from the activity I'm trying to do which is why I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to get into videography.

Great footage mate for the moving shots are you using video stabilisation in post to get them looking so stable?

I was in doubt from pocket 3 and action 4, this video help me to my decision… I will go for the action 4. I know pocket 3 has a better image quality do to 1” sensor, better low light and also better stabilization due to the gimbal, but for my feels a little gimmick to use. I want a camera to record my family and to not aware of configurations and etc, just turno on point and shoot and also not aware to easily broke. I will buy the action 4 for vlogs and also for different compositions. For low light, bokeh and etc, I’ll save the money for a nice mirroless camera. Pocket 3 looks amazing but is not for me.

It looks great. I really regret buying the Osmo Action 3 a few months before the 4 came out. How do you think the Action 4 would perform on a forest hike using Horizon balancing POV, walking while under tree cover? It's a real problem for the Action 3 and I suppose it is testing the technology to the max in such a low light situation. I just want to know because I'm tempted to sell the 3 and upgrade. Thanks

I’m planning on getting the same camera for hiking. Did you need to change batteries or did you experience overheating?

The one thing I can’t stand with dji cameras. The shadows are sooooo dark. Hell half the time it was hard to see you. Thats not how it looks in real life. The footage is just to dark. I have the same problems with their drones as well. Thats the only thing I feel that the go pro has over dji. Other then that, in brighter scenes, dji wins all day long.
