Bought my osmos action on early this week for 199. Got the last one off the shelf. I Love it. Wanted something that would not break the bank hardware wise. No regrets.
Wow! What a powerful video! We have countless reviews of this camera, yours is the first that shows why and how you use it based on many seasons of practical experience with the Osmo Action - and some worthy alternatives. SUBBED!
Just bought the Action a few weeks ago and am enjoying it so far as I learn to use it. Loved seeing your tip about leaving the housing attached to the handle as I put mine on a handlebar mount on the indoor bike since it's the only place I'll be able to do test shots on the bike for another few weeks. No point in having to re-center it every time I decide to record a training session.
Awesome video thanks Samir! I think RU-vid knows I'm thinking of moving from my Osmo Pocket - which I love, but as you say is not weatherproof, a bit too tight, and worse, I cant sit it down easily to get a wide shot of me walking past! It's ancient tech now, but the price and specs look perfect... Anyway, fantastic video - subscribed!
Thank you. For the support. Although DJI is expected to announce the Action 2 in the coming weeks. That being said, based on the leaks it appears to be a very different style of action cam. But I’m not sure how I feel about the new form factor given how much I love the existing one!
This was honestly the best video I have watched on the camera, which shows everything I could want to see about performance. Would you say the interface and settings are easy enough for a beginner to operate easily? I'm thinking of making the jump from using my phone to this, but don't want things to be overly complicated. Also, I read there is no auto-focus: what does that actually mean? Is there a range where basically everything is in focus? I have trouble wrapping my mind around that one. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for the support! Really appreciate it. The interface is very easy to adapt to. The gestures and menus are very simple. There’s no auto focus because pretty much everything is always in focus. Unless if you are filming something that is an inch away. You never have to worry about autofocus because pretty much everything outside of a couple of inches are always in focus.
This was a great video dude. I currently use an Olympus Em1 Mark III as a hiking camera with a 9-18 lens, but the DJI Osmo Action with the Rode Wireless Go looks great and lightweight. Be interested to see how you get on with it. Stay cool and thanks.
Thanks man! I appreciate the support. I’ve been experimenting with the audio and my early impression so far is that it can definitely work is specific situations but it depends on what you wear. If you are wearing a hoodie, and have it clipped underneath, the sound is muffled. So I’m still playing around to see the best way to clip it on while hiking.
I’m surprised no one in the comments has suggested you should check out the dji pocket 2! The creator combo will solve all your vlogging needs, it has a bigger sensor, dramatically better audio, and even comes with a wireless lav mic! I highly suggest you get one! The action is good but the ability to record stereo audio with the pocket 2 is awesome!
I’ve definitely looked into it. But given the versatility of an action cam (durability, mounting capabilities, water proofing), I’m sticking with the osmo action for now. It’s just a more convenient device overall! I’m sure many other devices do certain things better than the osmo action but overall as a package, the osmo action is an amazing value!
You are good at vloging bro.. Realtalk...im newbie also in vloging but I cannot afford to buy that kind of tech.. I'm using a cell phone..a Low kind of cellphone.. Hopefully somebody will sponsor mi to buy that kind of staff.. More power to channel bro.. New frnd here!
Wow after i watch your video sir i interested to buy DJI OSMO ACTION camera too Thank you sir for sharing your experience to the DJI OSMO action camera
Thank you! I appreciate the support. At its current price point, the Osmo action is an amazing deal. It also likely means that there’s another version on its way but that will likely not be at this price point for a long time!
@@TechTalkwithSamir afaik DJI usually keeps product available at least few months after successor was released so I wouldn't be too scared. Also seems like a lot of shops have it in stock.
Thanks for sharing your experience on the Osmo Action and I’m convinced to get one. I’m on a budget, so getting a GoPro is no longer one of my options. I was about to get the Pocket but I might wreck the gimbal if I were to film myself skateboarding. Maybe I’ll get it in the near future.
Wow I'm glad I found your channel. Thanks for all of the helpful information! I also have a pocket and I just ordered my Action for the same reasons you said in the video. Great video!
Thanks for the video - good content, good production quality = great video! Considering the osmo for a videos - looks like an effective cheaper alternative to start with over a nicer ($$$) mirrorless. thanks for sharing.
you explained everything so well and I only see a negativ with the osmo action in the vlogging part when there is wind blowing. Otherwise this action cam for this price is from now on my go to. I just love you stalky you can video something without anyone even seeing It. (I am a bit shy and always feel stupid putting a camera in front of my face with a full extended arm in front of me).
Great review bro! You gave out a lot of information. I’ve been trying to figure out if I should get this or the HERO 9 and I’ve heard a lot of RU-vid tech reviewers complain about the “lag” on the Hero 9. I think you just convinced me to get the DJI Osmo. I’m gonna assume you’re from Toronto as well. Just subscribed to your channel. 👍🏼
Hi Samir. London Ont here. Just bought an Osmo Action, and am looking forward to using it in the Dominican Republic. We're going twice in the next 12 months => once this fall just to decompress after Covid, and again in 2020 for some whale watching. The main purpose for my Osmo Action is for diving. First: Thanks for this episode. It's so much work in post, and your product shows quality. Second: Do have any tips and advice on underwater vlogging? I have lots of bells and whistle equipment, but I wanted to tug on your coat tails for any real world experience. Cheers!
I personally have not used it underwater but I did use a go pro back in the day while snorkeling in Hawaii few years back. Based on my experience from that, you should probably get either a floating selfie stick that you can anchor to your wrist! Best of luck, I’m sure you’ll come back with amazing footage!
Nice video with good information. I also use an action camera, but it's a Gopro hero 8 black, for my video's because it's compact and easy to use and it has a good quality of images. It's much easier to use than bigger camera's.
Great video! I really like the way you present your content. I actually own almost all of the stuff you talk about in this video: Osmo Pocket, Osmo Action, Röde Video Micro, Röde Wireless Go 😊
Great video Samir, very interesting. I am curious about which post software you use? Seems like this is an entire journey in itself?!? Thank you again!
Appreciate the support! Working my way through subscribers. Hopefully generous comments and support from the community like your comment helps me grow ☺️
Great professional video! Thank you for sharing! I thought you would have like 50k to 100k subs or more by just watching this one video! I still use my GoPro hero 7 black for vlogging but keeping my eyes open for anything new.
I don’t have any inside information but knowing how long the Osmo Action has been out there, I would expect the second generation to come out at some point this year.
What kind of helmet? Which attachment method do you use? I am shopping for a bike (e-bike) helmet and was wondering how sticky and secure the 3M is? or do you stick and strap it?
I always heard about how modern, clean and organized Singapore was so I always wanted to see it in person. Also wanted to experience the multiculturalism that exists there.
That was good info. But I learnt that while footage of Gopro can be edited into final video on an Android phone, while footage of Dji osmo action can't be edited out on Android phones. So you have to move on to a laptop for that. Is this true? Plz explain how you edit this osmo action videos
I use Adobe premiere for editing all my videos! I don’t really edit videos on my phone so I’ve never really considered that into my decision. But now that you mention it, it’s good to know in case others are interested in knowing it! Thanks!
Oohhh. The duo microphone might work well for this and my family vlog. I almost got one but the dual output doesn't work on phones. But I do have this osmo action..... Got me interested so over again. But I gotta find a case. Blah
No I have never experienced that. Of course if you go from AC cooled environment amd go out in a humid environment, it may fog up for a few mins but that’s temporary.
good video. Osmo pocket footage looks the best. Osmo Action is not as good quality, and time lapse looks poor and not smooth. I think Go Pro might be superior here?
I personally think that the Osmo action has great picture quality. But keep in mind this camera is almost 3 years old. There are newer cameras in the market, including the Action 2 from DJI. But given the new form factor of the Action 2, it may not be for everyone.
Will you please let me know how to download to the computer and connect to the TV because the big catalog is useless and disappointed with Co since it is big Zero in telling about it's working. I don't recommend this camera
I am personally not a fan of the new Quick Switch button changes. But that’s mainly because I’m used to how it was before. But I’m sure that will change over time as I get more used to it. I keep holding the button by accident when trying to switch screens and that takes me into playback instead.
Yes the biggest changes are in what the QS button functions on the new firmware. I personally don’t like the changes but it’s just a matter of getting used to it.
The osmo action is great at 4K 60fps. Only thing is that the battery life reduces a bit and you may see slight delayed picture on the screen but it’s nothing too extreme.
@@TechTalkwithSamir Thanks! You're talking about while the stabilizer is on right? I'm shooting with guitar playing in mind. 4k at 60fps is the best setting for showing your fingers. You think I would not have issues syncing the fingers with the audio? I understand that it's output file is mov, I'll be using Davinci Resolve Studio 17 to render it at 1080p at 60fps and color grading, any issues or tips editing?
I personally haven’t had any audio syncing issues but for best quality audio, you should look into getting the mic adapter and an external mic. I have links in my description if you are interested.
And yes I’m talking about with stabilization turned on. Without stabilization, the display lag might be much less. It doesn’t affect the final video though.
