For those of you asking about log. I shot all the Apple Log video using Blackmagic camera app. I assumed that was obvious but apparently it wasn’t. The DJI app doesn’t support log recording (right now) so in order to record log you can use the native camera app or Blackmagic camera app.
DJI might surprise us with Log support but you can just use this app with the native camera app or BMD app instead. You lose the tracking features etc but start/stop still works which is super handy. If you need the tracking etc of Mimo you could just switch to that for those shots. I've been using mine with the BMD app and it's awesome. Great mobile setup
I found the BMD app unusable for my kind of assignments, shooting live action without re-takes. The BMD app overrides the audio settings I've saved in the Shure MV88 mic. The app also changes my shutter angle settings which I'd prefer to lock down to 180. The Lock button locks down everything; wish we could lock thinks individually. The settings slider (for exp. comp., etc.) is sluggish, sticky and unresponsive. Usable for planned shots, but in my work I can't stop the action to fiddle with settings.
Bro, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro can take 12 bit colour depth photo when ProRaw turned on. But iPhone 14 Pro and 15 Pro can only take 10 bit colour depth photo when ProRaw turned on. Why ? I don't have an iPhone, so can anyone please let me know if you turn ProRaw in 12 megapixel instead of 48 megapixel, can it take 12 bit photos ? I'm curious about this because, 12-bit = 68 billion colours. But, 10-bit = 1.07 billion colours. That's a huge difference. If iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro cannot take 12 bit photos, that seems to be a huge downgrade ! ??
thank so much dude, now I know this will be an awesome equipment to have with the my next iphone 15 pro max, no need for bulky cameras anymore, this is just what I need for create content. You earn a subscriber. Greets from Cordoba, Argentina.
Hi bro. iPhone 15 pro Max vs oppo Reno 10 Pro plus camera comparison please 😢❤ bro please please please please please please please please please please 😢😢😢❤❤❤ bro
This gimbal is really intriguing, but my 15 Pro Max weighs 221 gms and its clear mag safe case weighs 80 gms. That's 10 gm over the rated capacity of this gimbal. So, because I don't want to have to remove the case when shooting, will the DJI Mobile 6 work with 300gms?????? I'd love to hear from anyone who has tried that combo. :) ========== January 2024: I wound up buying the Insta360 Flow from Amazon since I knew I could return it if it wouldn't handle the weight of my 15 ProMax with case. But, it worked out just fine. The Flow is small enough to shove in my left front pocket with or without the camera clamp attached. It's convenient and easy to use. Learning to use it well is something on which I'm still working :)
I have the same set up and I may be doing something wrong but some angles of the gimbal are too much and it flops so I may have to send mine back. Shame because it is a neat kit
@@horsesnsports I am glad to see it’s not just me that is having issues. After three days of trying to balance it with the 15 PROMax I started check and found several others are having an issue. Doesn’t seem to be any issues with the smaller 15 PRO…
I've had no problems using my 15 Pro Max with a decent-enough JETtech silicone MagSafe case. It wont carry much else (not a Rode Wireless Go 2, for example) but its fine with the case on.
I really wish they would just make a MagSafe mount, I have the Osmo Mobile 6, and I can't stand putting the clamp on and off. I love that it then magnetically attaches to the phone, but why not just make it magnets on both side. Also, would be nice if they put a mount for the DJI Mic system because sometimes with the Pro Max it can be a little too big putting the receiver off the side of the phone. Really love the gimbal though, just a few nitpicks.
The problem is that you need to be able to slide your phone side to side to get the balance. If it was MagSafe just from your phone you wouldn’t be able to move it. But I guess they could put adjustment in the arm or something
Thanks for this!! I'd like to clarify, does the mimo app supporta shooting in apple log? Or do I have to use the native iphone app for that + the gimbal?
@@LeeZavitzthis is slightly unclear in the video, so thanks for clarifying here. The lack of ProRes Log in the mimo app is the only thing that’s really killing this setup for me. 😢
The last update disappointed me a lot, it didn't visibly bring anything new and only added an error that after starting the application it doesn't remember the settings and I always have to turn on the grid AGAIN and AGAIN. I didn't have to do that before and the setting remembered it!!!
Thanks. Something like this with the ProRes video makes the iPhone a pretty serious little filming device. Especially with lenses and filters from a few other companies.
On my 3rd install of the app as it locks out the camera, sad to find this is still an issue (current software installed on both) Those looking for a bargain keep your eye on my trash can, if I keep having problems thats where you'll find it.
Can you mount the iPhone 15 in an Otterbox on the Osmo 6? I've got a metal plate on the back of the case which is used as a car mount but can't tell if the Otterbox makes it too thick.
Yes. You don’t need the DJI app to film. DJI app is just for making gimbal changes as well as Timelapse and tracking features. I show using the Blackmagic camera app with it. Best way to get Apple log if you have iPhone 15 pro
I bought the OM6 after watching your video, I'm trying it out right now with an iPhone 15 Pro Max but the app keeps telling me the clamp/magnet isn't placed correctly. If I were to move the clamp any further up, it would click the power / volume buttons on the 15 Pro Max. I think the gimbal is working fine, just the error in the app won't go away no matter what I do. I'll let you know if I figure it out. Thanks for the video.
Oh weird. I had that issue when I added a lens filter to the front. I couldn’t slide the phone any further. The only way to make that error go away was to add a counter weight. I wonder if there is a setting in the app to not display that because I know what you’re seeing and it was annoying even though the gimbal was working perfectly
It’s a fun watch. Are you a watch guy? I’ve been buying older 70s and 80s Casios and fixing them up because they re so timeless imo. And they were actually built out of metal back then haha
I don’t know what cinematic means. But if you are taking about cinematic mode or shooting in Apple Log you can’t use Mimo app for that you’ll have to use native camera or some other app like Blackmagic camera
The problem I faced recently that in portrait mode the gimbal handle comes in the camera in certain angle. Other faced the same problem or is it something I am doing wrong?
Awesome video Lee! How did you get this kind of blurry background in these clips 5:19? And how were the ProRes footage not taking up too much space when you didn't use an external SSD?
Great Video.....thank You.... Is it possible to connect a mic to the iPhone 15 Pro Max via Bluetooth? I would rather not have a wire going to the phone. I would like to use a small shotgun mic attached to the 1/4-20 at the bottom of the handle. Thx, Phil R
Hey Lee. :) Hope you're doing great. Nice job showing this off. Couldn't help but have a good laugh to myself when I found out my favorite RU-vid photographer, portraitist, owns a Honda Element. Ha. Just bought a really nice 2004 Honda Element EX a few months ago after looking for several years. Love it! 🚙📱👍
It’s the most practical car ever. And I still think it has a timeless design. Mine is a 2008 and it took awhile to find low mileage in good shape. But I found one (wasn’t looking for orange but it has grown on me)
@@LeeZavitz Agree. Definitely "has a timeless design". When I look around at other cars in a parking lot for instance, mine is the nicest looking one of all of them. Mine's Galapagos Green Metallic. Love it. And it drives so smoothly too. With power everything. And as far as the miles go, if they're well taken care of, which mine was, hitting 250K miles isn't some extraordinary achievement but typical, with quite a few going over 300K miles.
Would be cool if you took 15 seconds to demonstrate how to use the Osmo 6 with ProRes Log instead of just breezing thru it. I don’t see any of that functionality in the Mimo app.
Great review but all you say about audio is small wireless Mic. No idea why you keep holding the mic in your hand and no idea at all how you got the audio into the video. Seems like a major omission from and otherwise very useful video.
The video is about the gimbal not the mic. I always list what I use in description. Rode wireless pro. I record directly into the mic. But you can also connect it to the phone if you want to. DJI also makes a wireless mic as well.
As I’ve said multiple times and also in community post. Google didn’t send me one this year and I’m not sure I want to buy one. Doesn’t seem to be a lot of interest in the pixel 8 pro. Probably because there isn’t a lot of changes from the pixel 7 pro. Most of the new things are in software and AI. Majority of it isn’t even available yet. Maybe if there is enough interest I’ll get one. But the pole I ran it seems mixed
I haven’t decided yet, I ran a pole and it seems split. Not as much interest in the pixel this year it seems. Google also cut me from team pixel so I didn’t get a review unit this year and I have to buy one and I really don’t feel like buying this pixel unless there is a lot of people that want a video on it
Insta360 flow can balance with the iphone15 pro max with case and a Samsung T7 Velcro to the back of the iPhone without any counterbalance and work flawlessly! But still the flow app don’t support ProRes recording😓
