a tip for new gimbal users, wtch a bit of old samurai movies and watch their way of walking when circling each other in a duel and then try replicating that walk. it removes easily 50% of camera shake.

Hello im very new to this and not much of a video recording(not even fan of taking pictures) but im forced to do it for my personal business, can someone summarize it to me because i need to take videos/pictures of our company's work that involves Tiling floors/walls but i want something to show of great quality, and im using samsung S23 ultra, is it good ? any good settings you recommend for those sort of video/picture taking? is SE or 6 gimbal better?

I find the SE to be fantastic, i take videos of cars and it serves well although it is just a hobby.. i cant understand how a device like that is so cheap.. its amazing for the price

Thank you very much for this fantastic video. I'm considering buying a SE. However, Mobile 6 seems impressive as well. Everything else is unconsiderable except for that zooming wheel. I mean that's a really cool feature. It's a cinema camera feature. If new gimbal makers can include that feature and improve it with some acceleration and deceleration for Focusing and Zooming that would be great for the future of Mobile videography.

These videos made me realize I need to do more research before buying a gimbal. I just graduated from my high school and the trade school offered so I’m now looking for products to use for videos since I no longer have access to the products we had in our video room. Thanks for the vid Dan. I’ve been going back and fourth in which one to buy for streaming at work of my daily activities. I think the SE will suit me just fine. I don’t need the extra stuff that the 6 has. It’s great to have options. I am also going to rig a handlebar mount to my chest. I’m going to use the handlebar part to hold the gimbal and then use the screw mounted part directly to my chest rig. I’m anxious to see how this works out. @@indiaoverland2846 you know what I did rig it up and then the brass at work pulled the plug on streaming on the job. I ended up selling the gimbal to a buddy after being extremely salty about the whole situation. But! I did figure it out and make it happen and it was pretty effin cool.

Really great video. I was looking at getting the 6 for some upcoming family trips, I didn't actually know about the SE. Now I've got a real conundrum. I actually like the built in selfie stick, I've never owned one before but in that form factor it seems useful. But then am I really going to pay nearly $100 for a selfie stick? But if you don't have it or need to carry something else around... I might just wait and see if there are any deals in the sales.

I'm going to buy one today - I think I'm going to go for the SE - I want to vlog football matches and the selfie stick on the 6 might not get past security in stadiums - plus the longer battery life is a big plus I think. I have a go pro 11 and a a6500 for other things - I think the SE will do the job - just a pity about the colour

Can we choose what is tracked on screen ? or is it only tracking based on face? like for example i do a lot of b roll shoots with food. i want to know can it track food/ knive/ basically other things than face. This video was already really helpful but one thing i'd like to know is how well they really stabilize. I have somewhat shaky hands and often i take pictures that require atleast of one second exposure and high zoom(like aurora borealis or pictures of the moon). I have a mid-range phone that has 10x zoom in it and on those levels the internal stabilization just isn't enough for my hand shakiness. I'd love to see long exposure stabilization on these as dji products are easily available pretty much everywhere. On the quick lookup i only found videos and tips straight from dji but a non-biased source would be a lot better. I previously had a flagship phone and even on that the built-in stabilization was struggling on higher zoom levels because even that required calmness and settings tweaking before you could get a decent pic.

Yes, the stabilisation from a gimbal would definitely help. I have zoomed in on a few occasions and have found that the footage is stable.

Great review. I have Zhiyun Smooth Q, but my phone is too heavy for my Zhiyun and now im looking for one of these. I went to jbhifi today and i saw SE version they only have one left because it's cheaper and have more juice in the battery. Both are identical but the other has long neck. In my mind i want the extended pole.

You might be able to rig up the GoPro 12 but it is not designed for action cameras. This is a smartphone gimbal.

Nice video! Question: how stable / balanced the phones are when they have attached a MIC receiver? Example: iPhone 13 attached to BOYA wireless mic receiver?

It might impact on the stability of the gimbal but it shouldn’t be an issue.

I don’t believe so. You will need to use the DJI Mimo app.

I have the Osmo mobile 3 still, seems still the same as Osmo mobile SE minus the magnetic mount. I think software-wise they don’t cap the old gimbals? Not sure but based on what I see on OM 6 reviews it looks very similar still. However I am considering the insta 360 flow as the upgrade, seems the software there is better. I do have a bias for DJI products having owned a few. So maybe if OM 7 comes out with better tracking that will also work down to older models like the OM 6?

I believe that DJI would try to incentivise people to upgrade so they might make ActiveTrack 6.0 available for the OM 7 (for example). Check out the Hohem M6, I’ve created a review on my channel for this smartphone gimbal recently. It is really cool 👌

Now coming from the Osmos Mobile 3, is the 6 that worth it? The side wheel is pretty tempting along with the extension rod. On Amazon in the US I see it going for $160 (about 232 AU) right now which isn't bad considering I paid about 150 for the 3.

Thanks Dan. how the se zooms in or out since it has no side wheel. Excellent review. Btw if I can get the 6 for minor price difference , would it be better buy. But the battery life will remain an issue 👌

I also have Zhiyun is works very well and seems solid but it is very heavy and large size.

You still have a zoom toggle on the SE, you can still get smooth results.

Dan, only you could answer this question. Noticing an iPhone featured in this video, was the OIS turned off while filming with the DJI gimbals? Having two active stabilization systems on at the same time could either compliment each other, or they could work against each other. Either way, the final videos would not accurately reflect the DJI models true capabilities. Thanks, Mike

Hello! Can you comment briefly on the weight of the two? Is the SE heavy/much heavier than the 6? I am a woman and I wonder if the SE will be a lot heavier. Thank you! Also, if I were to use either one at a dining table at a restaurant, say, would a 6 with the extension rod be better to achieve a height that will get me in the frame while sitting?

The weight is similar. I think that most phone cameras have a wide field of view so either unit will do fine in that scenario. Either way, you’ll be happy with both. The extension rod can come in handy and they are both relatively cheap so the Osmo Mobile 6 is a no brainer for most people.

Hello, do these gimbals have no vertical image stabilization? So they don't have mechanisms to smooth out the jolts from the operator's steps?

Yes but the motors aren’t as strong as the higher end gimbals so you will notice some jumping movement when walking. Try the ninja walk 🥷

Hi Dan! Your video is fantastic and detailed. I like the zoom and the selfie bot in osmo 6, but since I'm a complete amateur and I haven't applied for a selfie bot before.... I can't decide yet. As a beginner, does the SE fully satisfy your needs? Thank you for your response.

The SE would be fine for your needs but if you pay a little extra then you can get the extra features of the OM6.

Thanks for this video. I had an Osmo Mobile 3 and after two years, the motors stoped working. Everytime I turned it on, the motors were trembling. After that, I had the Rollei Butler 2. Nice Hardware but awful App. So now I'm looking for a new DJI Gimbal. Normally I would prefer the SE, because I am left-handed and I don't need the extras. But the design is exactly the same like the Osmo 3. So the question is, will it also have the same motors? This is important to me, because the problems with the Osmo 3 are well known in between.

I don’t know about the intricacies of the motors being used but the OM SE and OM 6 are great gimbals that will last.
