As a beginner in DJI Pocket 3 i have seen quite a few RU-vid videos in order to learn. But there a many shall we say "not so good" videos where the speed is quite up, and see this see that. Tamaras videos are very calm videos and i'm really enjoying the videos. I'm here to get better and Tamara is really good to give it away. Thanks.

Perhaps I could add some detail about the important update to the "backup audio" system. When they introduced this system in a previous update, it had a serious shortcoming when used in conjunction with the Mic 2. In essence, the Pocket 3 is a four channel audio recorder which also happens to shoot video. (You can tell that I come from an audio background!). Once the backup audio feature is enabled in the menus, whenever you shoot with the Pocket 3, you get two dual-channel audio recordings. One is the normal AAC audio incorporated in the video file. The other is a wave format audio file, created separately. The wave format file always contains the output from the excellent internal mics. The AAC audio contains a duplicate of that audio, if no additional audio source is connected. But if you connect an external audio source to the USB-C port, that's the audio that ends up on the AAC recording. Meanwhile the internal mics are still routed to the wave format file, like I said before. The incoming audio from the USB-C port will be recorded in stereo if it's a stereo source, or in mono if it's a mono source. The internals are recorded in stereo if that's what is set in the menu. Now here's the bit relevant to the firmware upgrade. Before this fix, if you connected the Mic 2 directly to the Pocket 3, its audio would end up on the AAC file, in mono as it's a mono mic. (Let's ignore the connection of two Mic 2's for now). But due to a bug, as soon as the Mic 2 was connected, the audio on the wave file sourced from the internal mics would collapse to boring mono, regardless of how you had set them. Now, with this firmware update, the audio on the wave file sourced from the internal mics will be in glorious stereo, if that's how they were set before the Mic 2 was connected. Why does this matter? Firstly, as a matter of principle, stereo sources should always be recorded to stereo files. You can later mix stereo down to mono if you want when editing, but you can never recreate a stereo image from a mono file if that's how the audio was recorded in the first place. But secondly, you can do wonderful things now with the stereo image from the internal mics, coupled with the mono image from the Mic 2. If you are out in the country surrounded by birdsong and the mooing of cows, and you are talking about it into the Mic 2, when you edit you can choose what level of that glorious stereo ambience you include from the wave file, and what level of the commentary you include from the AAC. And with decent editing software you can vary that proportion during the clip. Other scenarios might include waves crashing on the beach, or city sounds including cars passing from one ear to the other, and so forth. Before the fix, the whole thing collapsed to mono flatness, when the Mic 2 was turned on. Now it doesn't. Thank you, DJI. Should people care? I hope they do. Good audio with good stereo imaging can really add a great deal to good video. And the Pocket 3 really does give you the best of both worlds. Cheers!

I haven't really thought about getting an action camera or Osmo Pocket. The last action camera I got, and still have, is the GoPro 6. But, after hearing so many good things about the Osmo Pocket 3, I've started thinking about getting one. Not only for the gimbal aspect, but, for its compact size. And I've also been impressed with the image quality. The footage in this video looks really good. Way better than I thought was possible. Thanks for sharing your experience with the Osmo Pocket 3.

Q iPhone video editing - I only use an iPhone and Lumafusion - how do I get the audio off the dji mic 2 onto an iPhone 14pro max - I’ve tried but to no avail without having a computer - I like portability - interested if you have any suggestions

Tamara, any idea what the actual difference is between low light mode and normal video mode? I cant see to find anything in my camera that indicates anything other than max frame rate being 30, which is the fasted i would film in low light anyway. Not even seeing a difference in the footage.

What gain do you have your Dji mic 2 setup at?

What is the audio-to-video sync all about? DJI say in the manual that it records in only 24bit when this mode is selected but I've checked the audio output and file is in 32bit float.

Dear Tamara! I would really appreciate if you could answer my question. 1. Did you feel the difference with the volume level now? When you import it to Final Cut, what is the gain now? 2. I didnt understand, if you are using the transmitter, is it not mono anymore? (If I have in body setting set to stereo) 3. What are the Mic setting in your video? In body gain? post-production gain? Mono? Stereo?

That was useful, here lately sometimes I would try to stop a recording and it would not shut off right away so I held down the off button and it did go off and my recording disappeared. Now I know why! Now if I could only figure out my main problem, I press the mic button to turn on the mic, it vibrates the blue light lights up and then a moment after I release the button it shuts off. At first I thought perhaps the mic was low on elect. since I don't use it much so I hooked up the link from the mic to the camera it says the mic has 100% power and now it works, until you unhook the power then it goes off. I hooked the mic to my computer for power and it works but as soon as I unhook the power the mic shuts off! Can you solve this one?

Thanks for the update. Camcorders, are there any worth looking at for vlogging? Looking for mocha, video stabilization and zoom for our channel. I tried the Canon m50. Great video but a tripod was definitely required. Maybe a gimbal is a solution or this little cam.

I’m new to the pocket 3. Whenever I record without my mic the internal mic sets the sound really low. I always have to tweak the audio for every clip which is a bummer. Can this be address if so, how? Also, I’m not seeing how to adjust the joystick direction. I’m not a gamer so the inverted joystick feature is quite bothersome. So I bought the Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo and I got to say, I’m very impressed. Been playing with it a bit and I like it. Unfortunatelyy, I haven’t uploaded anything cause I ended up getting into an accident, broke my left pinky finger so I have a cast on…. 🤷🏽‍♂ But umm, one of the nice things I discovered playing with the pocket 3 is that, I was able to download the DJI Mimo app unto my 11” iPad Pro and use that big screen to control it…. I also downloaded the app unto my android phone(Oneplus Nord N10 5G), but for some reason I can’t download the app unto my 8” android tablet(Nokia T10). Anyways… I hope once I’m out of this cast I can start making videos of, mostly me riding my ev scooter on the many bike trails Vegas has….. Followed you cause of the great reviews and well explained videos you upload on here…. I might even get me an Action 4 in the future cause of some of your videos…. 👍

Hi Tamara, thank you for al you do. Your channel is a very useful source for someone like me, who just learning how to make nice videos with Oslo Pocket 3. My question though will be a bit aside from the topic of today's video, but i hope you would be able to point me in a right direction. When I film Timelapse with my Oslo Pocket 3 the camera stops sometimes in the middle of the footage. I mean it is not freezing, but just stops to take Timelapse. For example if I want my final video be lets say 15 sec, the camera might stop after taking only 2 or 5 or 7 seconds. It is random. I think it happens more often when I use motion time-lapse rather than static. Do you have any idea what could be a problem?

That thing has a beautiful image. I always feel like other people’s video looks better than mine even though I have the same camera. Lol. This could be true because of the settings but a lot of the time the grass just seems greener on the other side of the fence.

2:00 as a gamer I've never heard of anyone ever playing with an inverted X axis....however my best friend plays with inverted Y axis (up on the joystick looks Down and Down looks Up). On the Pocket 3, I've used it on selfie mode and I've never noticed the X axis being inverted...for me the annoyance I'm currently experiencing is on the Mimo app the virtual joystick is loads of messed up. I have the cam in 16:9 so when the App connects in 9:16 it's all wrong...to fix it I have to rotate the phone a couple of times then the virtual stick works properly. Plus I hate the fact that if I have the gimbal turned and view a clip in the gallery on the app then go back to the live view, the gimbal receptors, wish there's a toggle to switch that off

I wish more cameras had the cancel recording feature. I have so many clips I will never use, but going through and deleting them seems like a hassle. Do you have any videos explaining how the 32 bit float works. Does it store it on the Mic as a backup? So confused by it.

I"m confused about stereo vs mono with the DJI Mic's. I noticed that with the Pocket 3, I was getting 1 mono track (with 1 transmitter) on the video file and had to duplicate the mono track. I purchased the receiver and another transmitter. How does changing it to stereo work for 1 mic and for 2 mic's? Sorry if you've covered this in a previous video. I just don't recall it.

Hi, I downloaded the update straight away. I wanted to ask you for more info instead because I've only been using it for a few days. I've seen that if I move the joystick to pan the shot seems snappier, but if I leave the gimbal in follow mode and rotate the camera horizontally while panning manually it's smoother. Do you agree? How do you perform horizontal panoramas, do you also use the joystick? Thank you

Pocket 3 broke with the last update. The camera has a smooth image only at 30fps and 60fps, the rest is jerky. The shutter speed for recording frames per second in broad daylight has also changed. How can I go back to the previous update?

Hi, I just read users of the Pocket 3 are having issues in the FPV mode that the user has to continually re-enter the camera. The camera keeps an angle of tilt mode unless you re-center. I was highly considering adding this camera to my Action 4 family; have you ever experienced this issue? Thx!

Quick question, the blurred background it's automatically included in the pocket 3 or are you using a 3rd party software to do the blurred background?

I’ve got a functional question here when recording with the DJI mic 2 connected to the osmo3. I transfer the video files to my computer for editing, I also transfer the audio file from the mic and sync it all up. I’m then left with 3 audio tracks. Is transferring the mic audio unnecessary when it’s connected to the camera? I thought so initially, but they all seem to sound slightly different, and the audio directly from the mic is the one I end up using.

Have you considered using the Dynamic Framing on your talking head shots?

I like the delete recording feature 👍🏼 But I wish they’d introduce the ability to change gimbal modes with a press of the joystick. It’s the only thing I miss about the pocket 2.

I’m still hoping for DJI to introduce shutter angle, so I can set it to 180° so shutter gets automatically set according to what I set the frame rate to. Also hoping for DJI to bring a bigger brother sensor version, e.g micro four thirds.

I'm having to buy another 2nd hand phone that's compatible with the dji mimo app (as my phone isn't) and was wondering if I'd be able to use the new phone without a sim card to obtain updates for the osmo 3, i.e. basically just use the Bluetooth function and WiFi to download updates etc without having a phone number? Hope I've explained it well enough and hope you are able to answer. 🙏Thank you.

Also, one last thing. I'm having to format my SD card everytime my SD card gets full. I feel like my SD card fills up pretty quickly shooting on the DJI pocket 3 vs. cannon 80D. Either way I never had to format the card every time it got full on the cannon, but on the Osmo each time the card gets full I'm having to reformat it. Any suggestions?

Anybody help with this PLEASE if you can. This is off topic, but ever since I purchased my pocket 3 and try and upload videos into FCPX it takes a million years for files to load. Whenever I was using my cannon vlogging camera it didn’t take long. Any idea on what’s happening here? When I edit and view files in fcpx it sometimes gives me the slow loading wheel. It’s like the files from pocket 3 are slowing down Final Cut for me. Also, whenever a video file is saved on my SD card when using my pocket 3 there is always a white image (resembling a blank sheet of paper) that is saved before it on my SD card what is this file, do i need it, and is it slowing up my upload time into Final Cut?
