Gotta be the Pocket 3. For my youtube channel I think I'm going to ditch my chunky full frame camera and just shoot with the Pocket 3 and then get something equally small that compliments it with a little more zoom. Maybe an ~Rx100. The colors look great and having the mic 2 always synced to the camera is priceless.
Integrating so much advanced technology into such a small device is really an amazing achievement. Sure enough, adequated advanced technology is like magic.
If you just rotate the handle sideways, the sensor will flip into vertical mode and capture true vertical video at full 4K. The cropped 3K vertical is just an option.
It seems like the sensor is multi-aspect, and I find it strange how no one mentions that. The image circle from the lens is smaller than the full sensor. So you get more vertical FOV when using it in 3k portrait mode. It's not just a crop from the 16:9 4k image.
@@Gundrs It is almost certainly a 12MP sensor with a 4:3 aspect ratio. The only weird thing is that they don’t offer the ability to take photos that use the whole sensor, which I hope will come in a future update.
@@coder543 Yeah it probably is a 12mp sensor. Guessing the reason you can't take full sensor pictures it that there would be too much vignetting in the corners.
Great quality (for a still relatively small 1 inch sensor), 10bit, HDR, good photos, great screen, fast boot up, simply FUN to use, can be used for vlogging, as a webcam (...) truly surprised me how much I ended up moving this one 😃 - Vjeran
Two things that I like about this is the no crop, gimballed stabilised camera and low light capabilities. Those two alone are enough to justify a purchase decision. The only downside is no zoom but unless they slap the DJI Air 3's dual sensor setup on this without turning it into a monster, I'd say it's a nitpick. Overall, best video cam right now for standard shooting.
so grateful for your knowledge and sharing...i was sold the first 30 seconds seeing your background of gadgets, many of which i have so i can bet this is an amazing product. amazing production video...best wishes
The Osmo Pocket 3 is the perfect camera for travel. It's small and lightweight, so you can easily take it with you wherever you go. The footage is also amazing, so you can capture all of your memories in stunning detail.
Be aware the Pocket 3 needs the Mimo app to be used. It is not possble to instal on my Samsung Galaxy A13 That probably goes for some other phones as well.
❤️ I Love this pocket 3! I filmed a "cinematic" 120fps 10bit test video that looks pretty good even in low light. 👌🏻 DJI did an amazing job with this camera. Great review as always guys!
I just purchased this for myself and I’m so excited it comes in next week and I can’t wait. Your review was so helpful and very insightful! I also do reviews and I hope one day I can be as good as you and get on your level. Happy holidays!
I have over 200gb on my phone cause of just HOW much videos I take. I'm a huge moment captivator and will record just about everything I want to look back on later. Especially since having had a kid! I've been considering going old school and getting a camcorder for the zoom cause I use the zoom on my S22 Ultra often (I also got a Zhiyun gimbal for my phone) but not reconsidering a camcorder. But THIS! This looks perfect! It's small and light so I'll ALWAYS have it on me to quickly capture all the moments. Gonna order mine soon!
Great overview Vjeran! Honest and realistic, I agree on all points apart from the Webcam function on Mac. It did switch off couple of times but only when I used it with the Ecamm Live (livestreaming app) for some reason. That was obviously fixed with the firmware update. Webcaming works now fine when connected directly to the USB-A port on my M1 Mac Mini as well as through the Wavelink Thunderbolt Dock. Works also fine with my M1 Mac Book Air using the USB-C hub by Satechi, nothing fancy there. In my usage case (livestreaming guitar playing and teaching, online consulting...) this is a great camera because of the tracking as well. I set myself to one of the sides and I can move inside the space to show equipment, instruments, only I move slowly and smoothly. Then this function works really nice.
I'm wondering if you still use the Pocket 3 and, if so, has your opinion(s) of the camera changed. Also, I'm interested in this camera but, as an Andriod user, I'm skeptical of a company that won't offer a necessary app through Google Play and I'm weighing that issue. Thoughts?
It’s a stunning camera. And yep, I also had the issue with it turning off after 15mins when connected as a webcam. I tried tweaking the settings to adjust the auto shut off but I could only get it to stay on for 45mins before shutting off. Must be an overheating feature. Great review!!
Perhaps it's just my MacBook Air, but the audio on the Osmo Pocket 3's wireless microphone seems to be a lot better than the one set up on the desk during most of the video..,
DJI: I hope you really appreciate how much REAL WORLD feedback you are getting out from this ONE. Single Video. Hell, I would at least send a thank U note!
Is the glamour beauty mode on the device or do you have to download that also how do you transfer to your phone ? via a adapter ? thinking of getting one for my birthday x
Based on the research on Internet the glamour effect is available only on video mode not on photo mode. After shooting with P3 you exporting the footage onto DJI Mimo app where you can further adjust various glamour parameters
I would love to see them make an m43 version with limited interchangeable lens. When I bring my P1 out with all the accessories, I'm bring out a small bag. Its not in my pocket. So I wish it had an even bigger sensor (bigger then this) and the ability to put on small lens. Imagine having a set of primes right out to 85mm FF equiv on a system smaller then that of a Mirrorless/gimbal combo, or the Roden 4D? Not meant to touch the movie cameras, but the perfect go anywhere documentary/corporate/weddings/everyday small production companies use?
I have the Pocket 1, which I use occasionally due to its limitations like setting up time, additional attachment for gimbal movement and wireless connectivity. At this point, if I could use my Pocket 1 as a webcam, it would be awesome. And If I compare it with the Pocket 3, it has come a long way. Appreciate what DJI is doing in this space.
I love the idea and also owned an osmo 1 for a short time. But in the end, I only used my iPhone to take videos. Guess I’m just not „pro“ enough to really make use of all the functionality? 🤨
Not as portable, and not as good for high dynamic range. But the DJI Mic 2 and seeing yourself while recording, as well as the night time performance (especially when stabilized) is lightyears ahead of the iPhone. I've been using it daily since the release, if that helps.
@@TechWandererYTagreed, mine is iPhone14 Pro Max but I found its low light capability & stability is not so good. After seeing your video I’m considering to get a Pocket 3 for my next trip to South America & Antarctica.
CONGRATS ON THE EMMY BECCA!!!!!! Great vid Vjeran. Just received one for Christmas so I'll be putting it through its paces on my upcoming trip to Hawaii. Can't wait to shoot some good stuff.
Excellent thanks. I don't take much video but what I do is on an iPhone 13 mini plus Moment anamorphic and post-process in LumaFusion.Considering buying a point-and-shoot (e.g. Sony or Lumix) as my X-Pro2 or GRIII not great there but love those cameras! This is a definite - not for my trip which is in< 2 weeks but over the summer and the trip after that.
I have two DJI 2 mics. They sound terrible when connected to my Google pixel phone. How do the DJI mics sound when connected to this camera? Can you connect two DJI microphones simultaneously so I can sit down and do an interview? My DJI mics came with a transmitter device that you can connect.
I bought the creator combo, seems like they’re back ordered but I should be getting mine before January 10th, so excited! Going to use it for my upcoming trip to Hawaii’
i really think dji found the way a camera has to be. they can make the perfect camera if they lunch a pro with two or three lenses, waterproof built and a dedicated way to film vertically. i would buy it no matter the money if i could use it as an action camera too. i already order that and i am looking forward to the next steps
Fair question, to a lot of people it won't be better and they won't want to carry yet another device. Almost becomes a question of preferences. I prefer this footage than iPhone, but there were times when I wanted to use different lenses on my phone. Plus, there's the seamless mic integration, active track and different filming style with a gimbal vs optical/digital stabilization in phones.
TLDR: The gimbal. The gimbal allows for much better stabilization when not in direct sunlight. The gimbal also allows for active tracking, which make it much easier to keep your subject framing when both you and your subject are moving *or* when you are filming yourself with the camera on the ground or a table. The gimbal also allows for timelapses with panning/tilting (adds a lot of flair to a timelapse). If none of the above uses sound useful for what you do... then probably an iPhone Pro is good enough (the Pocket sensor is 116mm^2, much larger than the regular iPhone sensor which I think is 35mm^2, and while 15 Pro series is now 71mm^2)
its a hassle when you had to take out your phone for filming cause its distracting, attention drawing, awkawd and uncomfortable to hold for long and the audio is bad, without the dedicated mic Not only to mention its image quality is inferior compared to the 1inch in pocket3
Can you turn the camera ON and OFF without turning the screen, just keep it always horizontal? - to me it seems as a fragile thing to turn it many times
Is there any way to output signal from camera on 50m distance? For use on cable cam or something like that? Old DJI osmo mobile has that and you could control it with phone or tablet..
