Short of actually dropping it on the trail, I think you’ve done a pretty rigorous test of the Pocket 3. Fully agree with all your review statements and I think DJI is working hard on some level of water resistence for the next model. As for the gimbal’s durability, what would you say if I told you my older Pocket 2 fell out of my jacket when I was up on the roof of my 2-level house? It landed onto my front yard. Other than some grit and a minor scratch on the gimbal arm it was still working when I went down to pick it up!😳👍🏼😄

Steven, very thorough and compelling review from an action camera perspective. Less concerned about durability, I think I've fallen once on a technical trail and flipped my GoPro. More concerned about rain and humidity (sweat) in the Northeast where I live (maybe not as bad as TN). You've definitely opened my eyes and given me something to think about. Thanks.

Thanks, Reto! To make it more resilient in rain, I’ve thought about maybe taking something like ear plug wax for swimming, and putting it over the charging port and SD card. Idk

@@UltraTrailSteven Hmm. Interesting idea. I'm between the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and GoPro 12. I know, 2 very different cameras. If I can get over the hump about the Osmo Pocket 3 not being waterproof and somehow protect it, that would be my choice. With the GoPro 12 I sacrifice image and color quality and all the cool features that the Osmo Pocket 3 has.

100%. I rarely carry a GoPro or Insta360 camera now. The OP3 just take so much better looking footage, is more stable, and excels in low light.

I have had the pocket 3 for 3 weeks loving it, great rewiev. I took the dji 2 year insurance aswell. Good to see that it can be used for us runners aswell 😁 i have only used it inside for now. But will try it for some runs beside my gopro hero 10

Finally found a video using Osmo Pocket 3 during action/sports activities. Me and my wife do cycling and running. We have bought the Osmo Pocket 3, but so far only use it for family activities and vacations. Here, we live in tropical country, very hot and humid. With that exposed USB charger and micro SD card, how do you think this Pocket 3 will fare with sweat?

I would be a bit concerned. However, I would recommend getting some of that swimmers ear wax and putting a small amount over those openings. That would help I think.

Is the normal color mode record in 10bit or 8bit?

Yes, from what I have seen on the DJI forum, the Normal color profile is 8-bit.

I was waiting for this one. Fantastic review Steven! All the capabilities and quality make this a very attractive camera option. Now I just need to save up my money. Question, does this have a HDMI output that would allow this to be used as a webcam as well?

Thank you, Sage! No, the only output is USB-C. When livestreaming, it looks like that is all done via wireless connection (WiFi or bluetooth through the app on your phone). However, when using as a webcam for meetings or zoom calls, it looks like that is done through the USB-C connection.

They should have included pause and resume record like ace pro.. By the way if you run people were getting shaky video. Do you think there is a problem with their pocket 3

I run with mine and the video is really good and stable. I would suggest those people with shaky videos check out their gimbal settings. Also, the way they hold the OP3 may make a difference.

Hi Steven and thank you for such an interest review. Mine arrives tomorrow, so glad I saw your review. Do you use the Pocket 3 handheld for running or on a selfie stick. I also have the Go Pro 12 with the wide mode and that too is great, but the battery life is still a problem. I just now wish I had waited for the Pocket 3. Still I can use the Go Pro in the rain. Thanks again

I just handhold the Pocket 3. I do not use a selfie stick.
