Hello! do you think you could meybe compare the dji osmo pocket 1, with the osmo pocket 2? Or maybe the pocket 1 with the action 3, because they are going for around the same price (second-hand).
All I do is to document my family’s daily activities, so I need a camera that can be operated both by me or my wife. No post-production editing etc. Just press record. Pocket 3 is the perfect camera for our purpose. Been using it for months and we love it.
Great point. I'm building my content and channel and I need improvement but I'm not sure I'll get to a highly edited level. I want it to be somewhat man on the street while smooth and clear.
I don't agree with you. With OP3, you have to know basic stuff like how to operate the gimbal so it can record the perfect scene, which takes some skill. On the X4, you only need to point and shoot, and you can be sure that you will never lose a moment without needing to constantly looking at the screen to make sure you don't point at the wrong direction.
I am thinking about getting the X4. I current using P3 cause is nice to vlog with a baby one handed. How easy is it to sue X4 one handed from your experience since most shots require a stick
Just got the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 creator combo, can't believe how good the camera is. And it was only 600 euros, new. For the price I don't think you could get a better camera.
*I just got the OP3 and the video quality is amazing. I also have the Instat360 x3 and that camera comes in handy when I need that 3rd person perspective view. The creative camera movement you can create when reframing is simply amazing on the insta360. I wont upgrade until the 10 bit version comes out. Other than that I think having both cameras is the ultimate way to go to cover all the perspective shots I would need.*
yeah, thanks for the input! i don't have either and am looking to buy my first one i am leaning towards the dji, but i am worried about underwater filming solutions; what do you think? insta has that invisible case; also how about the extension possibilities and drone-like shots for the insta? how can dji achieve that?
@anonanon7368 my current thoughts exactly, aiming for an x4 now - but what do you mean by the phone part? use it for what? (in my mind you're referring to taking photos, editing x3/x4 footage on it on the go, and taking night time footage)
I had both and sood the pocket 3. The 3 is a nice vlogging tool but its still just a standard camera. The creatuve shots from the X4 makes recording inspiring again. From 3rd person perspectives, to over the top, to full 360. And with the 8k its much more useable than previous versions
As somebody who has a Osmo Pocket 3 and is wanting to also get a Insta360 X4 for secondary camera angles doing interviews/convention panel recordings, this has been the most practical hands-on video I've seen talking about the actual real world application of both these units. Thanks for all the info, it's given me a whole lot to think about (especially as I'm wanting to create 360 videos with possible OP3 video drop-ins and cut aways - stuff to plan ahead on).
Well this video is so welcome by me! Thanks for this, I already have the Pocket and will go on my honeymoon on October and thinking about the X4 so I can capture that effortlessly sometimes, as a videographer and content creator couple we use full frame cameras but still sometimes we want to be lightweight in different environments so thanks for this video it brings clarity in to buying the x4 or not. I’ll definitely appreciate more video of the x4
As I've said on your OP3 video. This is the ultimate combo: X4 n Osmo pocket 3 with the RODE Interview Pro + the MIC 2s for news page on FB to my 800K+ audience. I use both. x4 for a wider n better 3rd person/Creative/ estabiling shots shots when walking n the OP3 for talking head shots or my travel/vlog videos. Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses is a plus for POV.
Your vids are helpful for someone like me who's not a camera person or an editor, at all. I'm a machinist, with a RU-vid channel, so I just want to take good video. I bought the Pocket 3 a couple weeks ago after watching one of your vids and I abso-flippin-lutely love it with all of my heart and soul. lol. The only "issue" I've found is that I have to be very conscious to not beat the living breaks off of it in the machine shop. It's a harsh environment, and it feels a bit like this camera wasn't really designed for such unforgiving environments. just have to be careful though, so it's not a big deal.
Hey there! I'm so glad to hear that the Pocket 3 has been a great fit for your RU-vid channel. It's a fantastic camera for those who want to capture high-quality video without getting bogged down in technical details. I understand your concern about using it in a machine shop. While it's not designed for extreme conditions, with a bit of care and attention, you can definitely use it effectively. Just be mindful of dust, oil, and vibrations, and try to keep it protected when not in use. Have you looked into purchasing a cage for it? They sell those you know Thanks for sharing your experience. Keep up the great work
Insta360 can do a little bit of everything. Motovlog, YT Studio camera and a Travel camera. So, for most retail customers, this is the one. But if you are serious about your video creation career, then you need to have all three. An action camera for moto/adventure vlogging, 360 camera for travels and Osmo Pocket for HQ vlogs, not to forget near perfect b-rolls without having to invest in gimbals.
Your videos are always soo helpful! Great content. I find need low light shooting ability more than I thought, so for me the Pocket 3 is the preferred camera. But the 360 shooting and re-framing concept is very intriguing. Just not sure how much time I'd commit to the editing process.
In theory, I love the X4! It has gives you the ability to capture everything going on around you, basically giving 4 camera angles in one. The 8k resolution, stabilization, and its waterproof. The AI video editing on the mobile app would be a great way to quickly edit a short form video. All of that being said, I’m consistently disappointed by it. The video quality is just bad, the editing is time consuming and their app/software is hard to get used to. I always end up checking if I actually downloaded my video in 1080p or 720p, it’s that bad. Even in good light it’s a very noisy image, but in an almost static way. The AI editing is more miss than hit. You can’t set the video length, or have the AI start over if you don’t like what it makes. I also wish there was an option to turn down the stabilization, it’s almost too good. I took it white water rafting and it makes the rapids almost lazy river ish. Overall, it’s a fun camera to play with, allows for some very unique angles, has some unique advantages with editing, but definitely not a cinematic result.
Well said, I find if you expose correctly you can actually get a good looking image. I had a great experience with the Insta360 X4 with no issues on image quality. The post production work is what I prefer not to do. I like to just offload, edit and upload. That said, it was really nice to reframe my 360 shots for sure
Not my friend was a great video, thank you. I have the Insta360 but the video quality even on sunny days is rubbish and worse than my version three. I’ve checked the settings watched all the videos compared my footage with yours and others and there is something wrong with my camera, it’s even worse than my version three. After a month of automated emails or others just trying to delay things, even though I’ve sent them footage, I’ve concluded that this is a company I would struggle to recommend. This is on top of the issues around sponsorship, all of this leaves a bad taste. All that said, I love your videos and I wish you the very best.
I got the x4 since the 360 option adds a lot of creative shots in combination my mirrorless videos. I’d never use it as my only travel camera. The pocket however? I’d most definitely consider it as my only camera for travel id I didnt use a mirrorless camera. Unfortunately, im the type of dork who brings 3 types of cameras when traveling. 😂
After watching the vid I think I am still leaning towards the pocket 3, mainly because i can only think of one or two use cases for the 360° and I do like my 10bit Colors :D
Hello. I used to have a GoPRO hero 7 but got damaged. I used it to take pictures and record videos whenever I travelled. Not as an action camera for vlogging, but mostly for taking videos and photos. I edit them casually for my personal files. I consider action cameras because they are light and waterproof as opposed to a normal camera (my mobile is a very old one). Therefore, I am looking for a recommendation of an action camera for a non-adventurous traveler. I would really appreciate any input. So far, I think the most convenient would be DJI Action 4 but not sure. Osmo pocket looks good, too
Thats hard to say. It depends on what you’re using them for. I created a camera quiz to help you figure out which camera is best for you Have you taken it yet? It sounds like you're looking for a versatile camera that can capture great footage while traveling, without the need for extreme action sports. The DJI Action 4 is definitely a strong contender for your needs. It's lightweight, waterproof, and offers excellent image quality, making it ideal for capturing memories on the go. Another option to consider is the Insta360 ONE RS. While it's a modular system, you can start with the basic kit and add on modules as needed. This flexibility allows you to customize the camera to your specific requirements. Both the DJI Action 4 and Insta360 ONE RS would be great choices for a non-adventurous traveler seeking a reliable and easy-to-use action camera.
@@thefilmalliance Thank you very much for taking your time and reply my message. I have suscribed to your channel. Your answer described exactly what I need for my trip. Thanks for the tip. I did not much about the Insta360 ONE RS. I will find out more
Probably like you I own both and I bought them both for different reasons and different jobs so I do take both with me but I probably use the X4 more than the pocket 3.
Great video, but comparing apples to apples, the Insta360 X4 generally blows away the Pocket 3 by far keeping the highlights in check while just about every shot and everything on the DJI has blown highlights despite the bigger sensor. With good lighting the image out of the Insta360 is far more pleasing. In low light, sure the DJI performs "better", though if you really want good low light performance, then just get yourself a real camera and lens.
The image quality of the pocket 3 is way better than of the X4. If you have over exposed videos, then you have to turn down the EV. And it's not, despite the bigger sensor, it's rather because of the bigger sensor that gathers more light than the tiny X4 sensor.
Good eye and I like your analysis. I couldve under exposed but wanted you all to see what the Osmo Pocket 3 and Insta360 X4 look like straight out of camera
@@thefilmalliance i actually have both, but i like x4 more due to its no framing issue and water proofing. Only problem is the file size. My 512gb card can only shoot 5 hours of 8k 30
Yes im convinced, you are a Rod Serling fan. (Twilight Zone) B/W tv series .You've modeled your voice inflections after him and carried them over to your videos. Good going.
If I knew all the reviewers in the world, which I don't, I would still recommend this guy! Right off the bat I know really good reviewers.....this guy is really Great 💯.... even though I just got here..... I'm not even 5mins in the video and I know.....❤
Yes, its cool how we are all in the same boat learning as we go. Thanks for the comment. What camera did you think had better image quality? The insta360 X4 or the Osmo Pocket 3?
Thank you so much for this video and also your help with making sure we all choose the right camera. Especially the files you provided to check if the rigs can handle the 8k footage. Luckily mine can handle it haha. Thanks again
@@thefilmalliance For me its got to be the insta360 X4. Will be doing alot of personal vlogs with my family, hoping that 360 angle can capture everything we do haha
It's a fantastic video with many excellent and practical info. I don't know how the two people in the studio background can keep working without being engaged by the show. I guess an ANC headphone shield protects them. Congrats, and I appreciate your effort!
Great point that beginners want to open the box and go. If a person is interested in making a great video but isnt a true techy- you're correct that they (including me) grab and go. This is a big ticket item I'll be saving for. While saving a newer version will likely come out. I have a dji gimble but i use it with my samsung phone and their app isnt user friendly/ couldnt get it installed to work with the gimble to access all features. Any tips on that are appreciated. One of the cameras in your review makes sense as my next upgrade.
Thank you. I agree that a user-friendly interface is crucial for those who aren't tech-savvy. Regarding your DJI gimbal and Samsung phone, I've heard a few tips that might help: Check for compatibility: Ensure your phone's operating system and model are compatible with the DJI gimbal. Update firmware: Make sure both the gimbal and phone's firmware are up-to-date. Try a different app: If the default app isn't working, consider trying a third-party app designed for DJI gimbals. sometimes that helps me the im filling with my phone. Just a thought. Thanks again
@@thefilmalliance I would hope soo…I have the ace pro and it’s good but nothing like my pocket 3 in low light. I hope the x5 will have a one inch sensor. It’s definitely large enough of a device for to have one.
@@thefilmalliance one thing the insta does better than everyone else is the app. They have a much easier app to use. Maybe a comparison video DJI Vs Insta App Vs Crappy GoPro hahah
i have an x3, and will likely upgrade at some point. i see myself needing both cameras for different things. i will get an op3 before i upgrade the x3 first. though my next camera will be an ace pro as that fits my current needs best. and i wont have to pre edit like i do with the x3. ....
Brilliant job at comparing these two cameras. I have S24 ultra thats pretty useful in low light cases. I want to get action camera for recording driving videos. My objective is to avoid recording shaking videos . Another vlogger commented in his video that shakiness is better with insta360×4. What would you suggest ?
Hey Waq, Thanks for the kind words. Choosing between a smartphone like the S24 Ultra and an action camera like the Insta360 X4 for driving videos largely depends on your specific needs and preferences. The S24 Ultra's excellent low-light performance and built-in stabilization can be a great option for casual driving videos. However, if you prioritize professional-looking, ultra-smooth footage, an action camera like the Insta360 X4 is a strong contender. Its 360-degree capture and advanced stabilization algorithms can effectively reduce shaking, even in challenging driving conditions. Ultimately, the best choice for you will depend on factors like your budget, desired level of stabilization, and whether you need the versatility of a smartphone or the specialized features of an action camera.
@thefilmalliance thanks for your detailed opinion. . S24 ultra does a fantastic job but i also wish to have the horizon lock which it cannot provide. Thanks for your suggestion about 360x4. It encouraged me to give it a try.
I think if a person has the disposable income to afford both, get both. They each serve different purposes as individual devices. I'm a fan of both cameras and plan to purchase both in the very near future. ✌🏾
Thanks Jim, do you own either of the cameras? I find when I actually use the cameras, I develop different opinions on them. I agree with what you're saying because they both have different uses.
How about you compare the APP that runs/comes with those cameras. They both shoot wonderful… but an INSTA360 vs DJI Mimo head to head would be great. Thanks in advance. 🙏🏽
I really wish the Osmo Pocket had some zoom capabilities to make it useful like in concerts, just 3x would have been nice to make it perfect all rounder
Curious for some feedback! I have a zv1 with a crane m3. Contemplating the P3 just for a more compact option. Then the creativity of the X4 seems interesting. I have a sport dog that is shoot content videos for. Curious of the x4 is better and continue to use the zv1 or is the P3 a game changer?
Hey man, Before providing a recommendation, it's important to clarify your specific needs: Portability: How important is a compact size for you? Features: Do you require specific features like stabilization, audio recording, or slow-motion? With a sport dog I would assume you would. Content Type: Are you primarily shooting action videos of your dog or do you need versatility for different scenarios? Budget: What is your price range? From what you've told me lets break it down... ZV1 with Crane M3: Pros: Great image quality, good stab, and compatibility with various accessories. Cons: Can be bulky for some applications and heavy after a long day shoot - I know because I had that exact setup. Osmo Pocket 3: Pros: Extremely compact and portable, excellent stabilization, and features like tracking. Cons: Smaller sensor might limit image quality in low light but honestly, not that bad. Have you seen my Osmo Pocket 3 cinematic shots video? Insta360 X4: Pros: Innovative features like 360-degree shooting, stabilization, and creative editing options. Cons: Can be more complex to use and may require more post-processing. Let me know if all of this helps on your journey -Joe
I have to say Pocket 3 is a better camera in terms of video quality and low light performance, but 360 offers many other features with less video quality.
Thats hard to say. It depends on what you’re using them for. I created a camera quiz to help you figure out which camera is best for you Have you taken it yet?
This is a great point. That's really what it comes down to, right? I find that no matter how good a camera is once you get to editing and you decide on which clips you're keeping and cutting that's when you really know which cameras shine over others.
I bought x4 still unboxed and I have Dji mini 3 pro,Dji destroyes x4 in every aspect 😢 at least I have a Dji drone which has a great cam for all things,I must buy a cam for "the rest" and not a bad option that Dji osmo or maybe newes gopro?!
I'm sorry to hear that you're disappointed with the Insta360 X4. It can be frustrating when a new purchase doesn't meet expectations. While the DJI Mini 3 Pro is a great option for aerial photography, the Insta360 X4 offers unique features like 360-degree capture and stabilization that might be valuable for different types of content creation. If you're looking for a dedicated camera for ground-based shooting, the DJI Osmo pocket 3 or a newer osmo action 4 could be good options. It ultimately depends on your specific needs and preferences. Does that make sense?
@@thefilmalliance We've been using the Pocket 3 a far bit already now. It's incredible!! ... but I am wondering what Insta360 does next. We are going on a 4 week trip soon and plan to do some videos and blogs of our time.
Very good video! Haha man looking into these cameras.. I easily say oh yeah I'm going to grab the insta but then you get into reviews and videos and my head hurts haha.. I really just want something to film the kids doing what kids do and then family trips .. the editing part is what hurts my head
Hey there, thanks for that. We had a lot of fun with that intro for sure. What camera did you think had better image quality? The insta360 X4 or the Osmo Pocket 3?
Those mpeg artifacts on the Insta360 X4 vlog footage, especially on your face, is really quite distracting. Did you mess something up in your process, or is that just how that lower bitrate looks? The Pocket 3 footage looks so much better.
I believe you're referring to the 8 bit vs 10 bit. Thanks for pointing out the MPEG artifacts in the Insta360 X4 vlog footage. I believe the issue lies with the lower bitrate used for the video, 8 bit (X4) vs 10 bit (Osmo Pocket 3). DO you own either the Osmo Pocket 3 or the Insta360 X4?
@@thefilmalliance I have my own RU-vid channel. I have a Dji Osmo pocket 3. It's a great camera. I feel like it can sometimes replace my huge gimbal ziyun Canon R5. But I also want to buy an insta 360 x4. It will allow me to shoot videos at a great distance from the cameraman. You don't have to try to set up the right frame and do it later. It's a great opportunity for creativity. Thanks again for the professional review.
The image quality of insta360 is bad on all their products but their utility punches high. At the end of the day i guess the choice depends on what you are willing to compromise on.
@@thefilmalliance Heya! Thanks for the reply! I'd say the OP 3's quality beats the x4. I think the problem with the x4 is their "AI processing" since the ACE PRO seems to have the same problem. It's like someone at insta360 woke up one morning and said: HEY! Screw reality and the natural look. Put everything through this processing system!
Yes, its cool how we are all in the same boat learning as we go. Thanks for the comment. What camera did you end up going with? The insta360 X4 or the Osmo Pocket 3?
I don't know what are we comparing here but the X4 is not even close to the Osmo 10bit quality.. low light or not.. color accuracy and dynamic range are faaar better with Osmo.. if they can make a 360 camera.. game over for insta360. anyway i never liked their video quality always looks like you are shooting in 720p and poor HDR performance
Hi bro im searching for camera who can work hybrid 50 photography 50 videography as Zve10 is specially made for videographers and vloggers should i buy this as it comes in my budget as 62k INR with kit lens as there is no evf but still after watching your videos i think i can click very high quality images and this can be my true mate or should i go with canon R50 which has Evf and i can use full camera sensor no crop ratio . But its a bit expensive for my budget its costs 75k INR . So what would you suggest me to get A bit hike on budget and grab tha Canon R50 or Sony ev10 will be perfect to me as i want travel, landscape, nature ,and a bit of astro photography . One more thing should i only buy the camera body and exclude the kit lens what will be your suggestion to buy a thirds party or sony ,canon lens which will be cheaper and very budget friendly and can be helpful to achieve me a good photogrphy shots + videography too .love from🇮🇳
Thats hard to say. It depends on what you’re using them for. I created a camera quiz to help you figure out which camera is best for you Have you taken it yet? I'd say if you plan on going with a bigger body, remember you will also need to budget for accessories
I buy the Dji osmo Pocket 3, I will use the camera for Fitness, Vlog, Cars and travel. Before I had a GoPro10, but my activities were more "radical" like skateboarding, bodyboarding, snorkeling and I used it outside the car. If I were to keep these "radical" activities I would opt for the insta360 X4. Just to add, Night videos with the Osmo Pocket 3 are amazing! The photos are very good quality, I was surprised with the result. I agree with what was said in the video, the pocket 3 gives a more professional look to the videos and everything is very smooth...Thanks, good job.@@thefilmalliance
