I switched from the normal remote to this a few months back and it’s been great. No stuffing around with your phone and more control options that are easy to get to.
Omg I just switched to the rc pro from the N1 and it’s like flying a completely different drone, it’s so smooth and makes shots I want to get so easy which would have been nearly impossible with the N1. Worth every penny.
I finally decidedly to get the RC Pro. I do commercial work with my Air 2S and my phone would thermal throttle even with a sunshade and heat sink. If you live in hot climates and actually do business with your drone you need this controller. It doesn’t matter if your phone can push 1200 nits non-HDR brightness, it will dim just from overheating and slows down your workflow. In these cases your phone and the default controller will not just work fine for you.
Great point, thank you for sharing! I can’t wait to hear about your experiences with the RC Pro when you start to use it. How long have you been doing commercial work for? This will be such a good upgrade for your workflow.
Many good tips. Thanks! Regarding the anrenna.. In reality You don't need to angle them down when having the drone above You, unless it's thousands of meters up in the sky.
Thanks for the review Dan, just to be clear, is it necessary to link this controller to your phone via WiFi hotspot. Or does it operate autonomously, no connection needed? Thanks in advance.
I tried ordering one of these last week but they had no more in stock so I gave them my email and waited for a restock. About a week later I get the email that more came in stock so I went ahead a ordered it. Can't wait to get it and try it out with my A2S.
Any updates on this remote, 1 year after using it? I got the regular smart remote, but it's sluggish and slow and really makes the experience of flying much worse, so is it worth getting this remote instead? Got a Mavic 3 classic
@@DansTubeTV thanks for the reply, might be worth selling off my Mavic 2 Pro along with the current smart remote then, and use those money towards the RC Pro :) Thanks again for the reply :D
Hi Dan Nice info about the RC Pro. I bought it few days ago for my air2s. Could you please advise how to find out whether my RC Pro works on FCC or CE mode?
Hey Dan, my local drone dealer said it will cost me 80 bux to buy a charger for my new Rc Pro controller which arrives shortly, can you tell me if the charging brick from the Mavic 3 be used to charge the Rc Pro? I have the old smart controller which I'm selling takes 90 minutes to charge fully using the supplied charger or over ten hours using a standard phone charger. It really grinds my gears to think after spending $1529 Australian dollars I have to lash out another $80 for a fast charging wall wart. Look forward in hearing from you soon. 🍻 Andy B. 🇦🇺
Couple of quick questions, Dan (not covered in the RC Pro User Guide on DJI website). The zoom wheel. Does this only work in video mode (and not photo mode) and does the zoom only go to x3 in all video modes (5.1K, C4K, 4K and 1080p)? DJI really needs to commit the abilities of the zoom wheel to print somewhere.
Most people don’t understand that this controller is really insurance. I have the DJI RC and RC PRO and if you want to almost guarantee your drone isn’t going to lose contact with your controller, the RC PRO is going to give you that with its 4 antennas. This isn’t to say you’re not going to be fine with the DJI RC, but that has 2 antennas and the PRO has 4. Also the 1080p is much nicer than 720p and your video is going to look nicer.
Dear friends What is the different between the blak one and the new grey one ??????? and how do you set it up to the new one Mini 3 pro ???? Could you please set up a tutoriel. I think world wide lot of new user til be "happy"
I don’t know what version of Android it is running. It is a custom build of Android, they have given it a unique version number. I’m sure that Litchi support will be coming 😁
@@DansTubeTV have learned that again the problem is not Litchi. The problem is again DJI not offering the SDK towards the RC Pro. Again showing that DJI fully controls and rules! This should also be mentioned in your review!
I bought it but have been using my SC 1 more often plus you don't get a fast charging brick that is one of the reasons I never sold my version 1 because you got a good charging block and fast cable
I bought a DJi Mavic 3 Classic with the regular RC controller. From the get go I disliked the RC controller. It feels cheap, plasticky and toy like. The user interface is slow and laggy, the screen is just ok and it is so light that it lacks any sensation in your hands. Even after 3 months of frequent use, I couldn’t get myself to enjoy the RC controller. The price tag of the DJI RC Pro was a big obstacle for me to overcome however. I finally and hesitantly decided to take the plunge. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Every single dislike I had over the basic RC controller have been addressed. It feels solid, well made, and pro like. The user interface is fast and smooth. The screen is absolutely gorgeous and it offers many useful upgrades over the RC controller. Flying my drone with the RC Pro has been a different experience altogether. It is much more enjoyable and satisfying. I only regret 1 thing; not buying the RC Pro with my drone.
Does smart controller or Pro controller connect to DJI Air units or caddx vista for FPV quad drone monitor, also do they offer HDMI out for large screen monitor connections
Hey man, quick question. I was under the impression that when the files were saved off of the remote to an external hard drive, that they weren't full resolution images, but cache files. Have you heard this? Just asking. Great video! Thanks for the info. Probably gonna splurge soon 🤪
I haven’t heard that, the quality looks great when I review the files. It could have something to do with how you save the files from the DJI Fly app but it seems fine on my end. Thanks for watching 👀
Video link from drones is 1920x1080. Hence remote can't store higher resolution videos than that "on the fly". Though it might be possible to download full files later. But that will take lots of time: In OcuSync 3+ Mavic 3 max download bitrate is 15MB/s and in other drones lot slower. (5.5MB/s in Air 2S)
Just purchased the air 2s fly more combo with RC pro for $1349 usd, used, from Adorama in Excellent condition. (2 batteries with only 1 charge and 1 battery that hasn’t been charged yet) I feel like I got a good deal. I was going to have to buy a tablet anyways.
You most likely didn’t get the RC Pro, just the smart controller. But that is still a great deal. Used smart controllers are going for 500-650 usd on eBay even though it was never sold for more than 600 refurbished from DJI.
@@battery_wattage no I got the RC pro, DJI started running out of smart controller stock and started shipping it with the RC pro between January and April so they started shipping the bundle with the RC pro but still marking it as being the smart controller bundle. B&H and Adorama actually began to list the bundle as being the one with the RC pro for less confusion, but I believe that the Smart Controller stock has gone back up and they are shipping with the smart controller again.
Hey Dan. Thanks for taking the time and making this review. It's definitely pricey, but the extra function buttons and especially the extra bright screen are important features to me. A question on the 10% discount: Does it only apply to the Australian store?
I have Mavic 3 cine version with RC Pro, I have to say It sucks, not good as I expected, U guys should use stock RC with iPhone for best result instead of
Yeh i got a feeling this guy is affiliated with a drone store because he is way too biased and nice to any drone products he reviews. His reviews are very biased. What did you dislike about the RC Pro as i was thinking about getting one but heard a few people say they dont like it. Do you like the mavic 3 though ?. do you think its worth the money.
@@silverpro8356 Mavic 3 is good but look like DJI got issue with hardware quality on Mavic 3, I have the both Mavic 3 combo version and Mavic 3 Cine version, they have difference hardware quality, while my combo version did not get any issue with GPS but Cine version does, also gps accurate on my mavic 3 combo version is better than Cine version so I think hardware on them are difference ( I doubt DJI got more than one GPS chip suppliers so they got difference in GPS hardware parts on drone and It caused the issue), so for people who are planing to by Mavic 3 should wait DJI to fix that GPS issue I think.
@@phplaw So you had no problems with fly more combo but problems with cine. Whats the footage like on standard drone i was thinking of using it for commercial.
Biased 😂 I literally said not to get this controller over the standard controller at the end of the video. I’ve had no issues with the RC Pro, it has been great but it is a novelty with limited offerings over the standard controller. Get the Mavic 3 Pro - Fly More Combo or the Air 2S - Fly More Combo. They are my top picks 🔝
Except for battery life and easy to use/flexible phone holder stock RC-N1 is garbage DUMBmote compared to DJI's old stock remote. For increased carrying bulk... - It doesn't have telemetry display. - There's no second dial. (direct exposure compensation) - No separate record button for still and video. - Two customizable buttons from bottom missing. - Five way button (same as in RC Pro) replaced by single button.
I had the RC Pro for a couple weeks but it was DIFFICULT TO INSTALL SOFTWARE, it was DISCONNECTED (compared to a cell phone), and its large size means very LARGE CASES. And I was also surprised that the screen is actually a little SMALLER than my iPhone XR. Google Play Store doesn’t run on RC Pro. To install software on RC Pro you have to try and find the URL for the APK file, and then “side load it”. Life is complicated enough with an iPhone. I returned my RC Pro, but I still need a bigger brighter screen for hot days, mapping missions, or more intricate flying, which is why I’m researching Tripltek. Finally, there is zero documentation about the future of RC Pro for drones like Mini 3 Pro, etc. I think DJI realized it’s too expensive and enough people aren’t buying it to be sustainable. There some trouble tickets from people trying to run Dronelink Link on RC Pro. Mapping missions with Dronelink or DroneDeploy are better on a cell phone or likely a tethered connection to a Tripltek display. Then you can see the mission running in the bottom and the camera view on top, without having to worry about the cell phone screen shutting down because it’s too hot. From Aloft (formerly Kittyhawk): We don't officially support installation on the RC Pro, but you can google how to do it through various third-party sites. Also, as the RC doesn't have GPS or connectivity, we typically find that the app with LAANC, etc. is more useful on your mobile device. Hope that helps and thanks for flying with Aloft!
That sucks, you haven’t had the best experience. I do find that the RC Pro does not have the best support for third-party apps which is unfortunate. I do find that the novelty of the RC Pro wears off quickly, it does have a nice display, a responsive touch screen and a few other cool things going on but definitely not enough to justify the price tag 🏷
I agree with "novelty. The DJI hype is crazy. How many people bought Mini 3s that won't use them... I'm really liking the Skydio 2 these days. I love the cable mode, waypoints, and follow modes. The only drawbacks I see are range and foldability. That little beacon is a gem that can't be matched on DJI.
@@DansTubeTV a full explanation of the RC controller would really be good though; your other vid did go a bit more in-depth but any chance of a full ‘training’ type review?
@@DansTubeTV you have explained well most of the buttons ~ it’s the other front ones I’m not sure about. Possibly a ‘go to’ for a full overview of all the ‘buttons (front and back’) would help many I’m sure?
for 200 extra bucks... i will take the 20 seconds extra to plug in my larger phone screen ... cmon people. . eg: F ULL days work for most to simply save 20 seconds on setup.
It is more than a faster workflow. You get improve range, more antennas, a dedicated drone device, and a more consistent high NIT display than most mobile phones.
Nobody mentions how much better and responsive the sticks are, I have the pro and it’s a massive upgrade over the N1, can’t say what the cheaper RC is like since I haven’t used one.
Nice controller but the price is silly, these chinese companies are becoming more and more greedy, wont be throwing my money to them for something barely worth half the price they offer.
I agree that the price is a little extreme but it is a well built controller with a bunch of functionality. It is worth the money to people that do this for their career.
