Everyone is reviewing the RS2 gimbal. Would have loved to see one showing the stabilization difference between the RS2 and RSC2. But no one is doing it. The RSC2 is mentioned as an after thought with no proper testing of the stabilization. Its a shame. I much prefer the form factor of the RSC2 and the price. But I have no idea if it will be a performance hit. Can you answer this?

@@adventures_media I was set to order the RSC2 and then did a comparison of size and weight. There are more features on the RS2 and there is only a slight difference in size and weight since the RSC2 is not carbon fiber. So I opted for the RS2.. money is a big factor but I think the extra features are worth it if you can afford. (I do agree with you on most of the reviews not doing a detailed comparison of these 2 models)

To balance a gimbal you start with the tilt axis by balancing the front and rear of the camera, you then move on to balancing the top and bottom of the camera by tilting the camera straight up on the tilt axis and moving the package so that the CG rests straight up and doesn’t want to go any other direction. Then move the camera back down level, make sure the tilt axis is still perfect. You then move on to balancing the roll axis, then you move on to the pan axis. To balance the pan axis you put the bottom gimbal legs on a level surface and tilt the whole gimbal over so that only 2 legs are on the surface, one sticking up. Then you move the whole entire package front end back until the pan axis stays straight and doesn’t turn.

The RS2 has definitely changed the game with that new weight! That's all thanks to the carbon fiber material which gives it both strength and lightness.

All the slow motion is skipping, obviously shooting frame rate vs editing mismatch. This is far from pro. I’ve owned and operated a post house for 25 years. These guys need to go back to school.

The warp stabilizer is driving me crazy. There is waaaay too much wobble on so many of the shots. I'd rather see natural camera shake than terrible warp stabilizer distortion. That's just "hopefully" constructive criticism. I think 99% of the video is right-on. Great color grades. Good pacing.

I have two RS2 units, both show Error 1009 upon doing a Gimbal Self Check, after a successful Calibration and Balance (Excellent on all three axes). It does not always fail, but fails enough for me to not count on it working correctly. I've sent them both the DJI for 'repair' and they replaced them both after finding the faults. Now both of the replacement units yield the same Error 1009. I'm mystified that four of four fail for me and I do not see that others are having the same issues. Any recommendations? Thanks

I'm sorry to say this but that was easily the worst gimbal balancing I've ever seen. I have had four gimbals now, fifth is on the way, and I have balancing down to a science. Lock all but tilt, balance camera front to back, point lens up, balance second tilt axis, lock tilt and balance roll (sliding cmaera side to side), lock roll, and balance pan (definitely the hardest axis to understand). Tilt the gimbal forward and if the backend swing forward it's back heavy, slide forward. Tilt it backward and the opposite applies. . When you've gotten it down it should take well under a minute and be easily repeatable. Hope this helps someone.

The Ronin RS2 has the ability to do Time-lapses and panoramic shots. I can make the gimbal make the moves but as far as getting my Sony a7rii to actually automatically take photos whale the gimbal is in motion I have had no luck. I do have the PC cable attached to the camera control port on the gimbal. The system recognizes the camera. But takes no pictures while doing the time-lapse or panoramic feature. Can you help? According to DJI the camera and lens I am using are supported.

Sorry, guys. That was not a good tutorial on balancing that gimbal. You used techniques that aren't required anymore. First, no reason to balance the back axis before balancing the others. Save that one for last. Also, part of the advantage of locks is so you can lock every axis except the one you're currently balancing. Then, you can focus on one axis at a time. Once each is balanced individually, unlock all and check overall balance.

Yeah the frustrating part is that when u use the 15-35, if u have the lens stabilizer on it automatically turns on IBIS, so then u gotta go nothing at all.
