I got the Ronin SC with the a6600. so far so good. quiet the leap from the osmo mobile and the pocket I was using. Love the battery life and the fact I can swap out the battery if necessary. Setup was ok....... just like you mentioned wish it had one more lock.

I've had the Ronin -SC for about 3 weeks now. Using it with a Lumix G9. So far, I like it. Good Gimbal as long as you have a smaller camera with smaller lenses. You are right on about the balancing part. If you are balancing for front or rear heaviness, you have to be careful not to knock it out of left or right balance. And vice versa. Can get frustrating at first but with practice, you eventually learn how to do it.

Thanks to the review! One of the things that I like about this gimbal is that its software app is compatible with the Canon M50. I bought a Zhiyun Crane Plus which is not. Might have to sell the Zhiyun and buy this one. Thanks for all the videos you have been doing they have helped me get started in my journey on RU-vid!

I'm running the A6400/Sigma 16mm F1.4 DC on the SC and am loving it. Don't bother spending the money on the FF - only niche users are going to be trying to pull focus on a gimbal (very difficult.) Very happy with performance so far. I agree with the sled adjustment being a bit of a pain when docking camera or lens changes.

Jeven, wow perfect timing for this video, thank you so much for putting it together!! Last weekI bought the Sony a6400 to go with the Ronin SC that I bought a couple weeks ago. Tthe exact same thing you mentioned in this video is what my concern was when trying a low angle shot, you have no idea what the footage will look like or if you’re even tracking or composing your frame correctly. Since I just bought the a6400 on Amazon, I’m opting to send it back and try the combo of a GH5 with the Ronin SC or maybe just stick with a m50 right now (daughter has this camera) until something else comes out. I am primarily using the camera / Ronin combo for stock footage, would you recommend trying out a GH5 with the Ronin SC or sticking with an m50 for now, would love to hear your suggestion about this. Wanting to do 4K 60, which the m50 does lack. :( Thanks again.

Thanks for this review Jeven. I've been looking for reviews that has siimilar issues with mine. The side to side wobble when walking. So you mean I need to auto tune every single time I swap lenses? That is very frustrating.

very nicely explained, thinking of buying one for my Nikon D5600 which is not a mirrorless camera. Would you recommend this for a camera like that? Or would there be any compatibility issues? I'm gonna be using my 35mm prime and/or 18-140mm Nikon VR lens at the max for shooting videos.

Isn't the quick release plate of SC is Arca Swiss? Smallrig have some adapter that allow you to mount acra swiss to any tripod. Though I haven't try it before

Can you control the focus from the phone software? Was thinking of that you can program camera movements in the phone software. It would be cool if you also could change the focus on the different points.

Hi Jevan, another awasome review done by you. Great to watch it! Can you advice me what whould you choose for Olympus E-M10 Mark III + len M.ZUIKO 40-150mm (I don't swap lenses to often): either DJI Ronin SC or Zhiyun Crane 2 with follow focus adapter? I shot mostly outdoor on our runch with very windy conditions and I need more cinematic footage for my video production. All types of shots: lower, dolly, dutch angle, close ups, everyting you can imagine. Thanks so much.

Hi Jeven - great video - I've been looking at a Ronin SC for my Fuji X-T4 and 16-55 lens. I'm currently using an OM4 and iPhone XR for car dealer videos, but I'm underwhelmed but the lack of range of motion of the OM4 and the frequent shakes despite the much-hyped new motors and magnetic mount. Should I use a smaller, lighter (maybe prime) lens for the Fuji for video with the Ronin SC, or would I be OK with the X-T4 (526 grams / 1.16 lbs) and the 16-55 (655 grams / 1.44 lbs)? Thanks for any advice.

I just got mine and ran into the issue of adjusting tilt and roll with one screw. I'm thnking of replacing the spacer that comes with the gimbal with a plate that allows side-to-side movement. Still a lot to learn. One thing I missed - what do the three lights indicate?

thanks! I´ve the Ronin SC and up to now I´m happy with it. The only real pain in the a.. is to stabilize it with something put on the cold shoe of the cam. I don´t get it. Mostly I would like to have a Mic on top of the cam, but it´s so hard to stabilize it. At least for me.

I think its perfect for my day to day use in my productions. Yes it has its limitations but so do all. You get Roinin S and you have a one heck of a payload. I have the tamron 28-75 2.8 and yes you have to take the eyecaps off if you want to do the underslung but thats about it. Nothings is perfect but i really like this one and its power. But for bigger cameras, big no no. (i have the Sony A7iii on this one).

Is there any reason a canon g20 wouldn’t work? Not your traditional dslr. I don’t want any of the features like focus just a good smooth gimbal.

Can you install a clamp for arca plates? Also on the balancing part with the one screw. When I balance any gimbal with any body, I always thought that the body needs to be as close to the motor as possible, so I always move it close to the side to touch the metal where tho motor is. This way the sliding left and right while balancing should not be an issue, since the camera is always touching the side. Still I would prefer 2 screws. If it's possible to use the peak design plates with this im switching, but only if I can add a clap to it. Only using 1 lens so rebalancing is not really a problem for me.

Yes. I have this gimbal and use an arca swiss quick release plate (120mm) adapter which is on my tripod. If I have to switch between gimbal and tripod, it's easy from one to the other.

Good review, i got one for my Fuji and 10-24mm, a little heavy but it can handle it. I'm going to get a Sony A6400 and 10-18mm lens for it which will be lighter to use, great gimbal so far with the little time i've used it. Always like your videos, good info and have learnt a lot from you, thank you..

Pictureworld Photography As I mentioned to another person on here, I bought the a6400 to use with the Ronin SC. Unfortunately personal preference, I’m not too happy with a6400. Reason being something that Jeven mentions in this video, that when you do a low angle shot, you have no idea what your footage will look like, he’s spot on about that. The lack of flip out screen on the a6400 doesn’t allow you to view while you’re shooting. Since I just bought a6400 off of Amazon, I’m opting to return it and try either the GH5 or stick with the m50 for the short time until something else comes out with a flip out screen. If this isn’t a concern for you, then the a6400 with that lens should be a great combo, however if you’re looking to do any sort of low angle shots I would not recommend the a6400, any Sony camera for that matter.
