The algorithms just listen to user signals. Length itself very likely doesn't matter on its own. People just tend to click on videos more often, if they aren't too long. Also it's theoretically easier to maintain the viewers attention throughout the length. There is plenty of proof though, that it doesn't necessary harm to make videos longer. Actually it can be the opposite. If you make a very long video and it gets a lot of initial views, then it triggers even more people to click on it, because people think "3 hours? not gonna happen" but then the see 3 million views for example and think "wtf how? it has to be good or something" and then they click. If your content then makes for a good retention, BOOM, you get incredible amounts of total watch time. One good example is the "Andrew camarata - Buying a mountain top" video or his channel in general... At the end of the day RU-vid/alphabet obviously just wants people to remain on the platform as long as possible. No idea why I spent the time to write this comment 😂
DJI ... Make an "Apple Airtag" equivalent that you can just drop into the pocket of the subject... Then you an get movement and distance data. From there, using the Lidar, it can then combine its info to do even better tracking and focusing. Please make this.
@@Yartin yes but it has issues at further distances. It can track close to medium but father shots are harder. I just think the extra data would be great for it to better triangulate for various reason.
I paused the video just to tell you that I skipped a lot of reviews and come looking for your vid because I know you are the only one I can watch and feel I know everything about the product at the end. Well done ✅✅✅
Watching this pretty much confirms what I thought - DJI made the RS2 waaaay too good for their own good and is struggling to add more features to it :D I predicted it would have beefier motors and beefier lidar and that's pretty much it and it's exactly what they ended up doing. If you bought the RS2 last week - it's still a good purchase
I was strongly considering getting rid of my rs2 because of the dji's major failure to simply allow standard follow control functions in the rs2 series with the loss of follow sensitivity. Every other pro gimbal ever including the Ronin-s has follow sensitivity control. I'm hoping they added it back in the rs3 but haven't seen any mention of it. Sometimes it makes me wonder if no advanced users actually use the rs2 since it's such a fundamental issue and I guess many people must just use default settings and don't notice the ugly jerky stops and starts in their moves.
@@pixl8 yes it's in every other previous gimbal, ronin 2, ronin s, ronin m, etc. It's the only way to get much more absolute fast and precise follow control without changing settings constantly.
😂 I bought the RS2 right before they said an announcement was coming 😭 but something is out of stock so it still hasn’t shipped. The RS3 Pro is only $100 more so I’ve been considering getting a refund and going for the new one
@@tlfilms207 mainly i remember trying some random gimbal, it turned off and hurted my hand. Thus anything that goes into better position asap automatically when not using is massive upgrade. I am literally highly considering this just because of it. I would also love for it to double as kindaish tripod when battery is empty and it seems pro is offering thst too which is nice. I really liked that easy lens swap thing because I feel I wouldbe swapping lenses constantly with something serious as this that is capable to use almost any lens
Hey Gene! Here’s a long comment to go along with the long review haha. I’ve been watching your videos for many years now and I have to say, I’m actually really enjoying the longer videos. You seem to be going more into depth in your reviews lately and I’m all for it. I think that you should start adding chapters to your videos! It would be much easier to jump to a certain section of the review, especially the ones that are a bit longer. Anyways great video as always! Those shots of Jonathan on the bike looked SO DANG GOOD! I’ve just recently picked up a Sony FX6 and I’ve been looking to buy a gimbal for it. I almost bought the RS2 but I’m so glad I waited! The auto lock feature seems worth it in itself to me. I’m also super glad that the FX6 and Canon C70 are now able to fit better because those are the two cameras I work with the most. Unfortunately because of the increase in price it’s just out of my price range for now. Still an amazing deal from DJI and will most likely be my next gimbal! Fingers crossed for LiDAR support away from the gimbal!🤞🏼
This is hilarious. Nearly just bought a new gimbal two weeks ago, and scoured Potato Jet's channel for new gimbals only to find there were really no new ones in years. So glad I waited!
@@BLX187 Used. I just bought it for a project that didn't happen and never find the time to use it properly as I'm more of a photograhy geek and z6ii is amazingly stable without a gimbal when I need a video 🤷
Being subscribed to the Potato Jet channel and nearing 50 years old, I have the creeping realization that I'm probably not going to hit my goal of saving for college....
I’m really interested to know more about the active track and whether it’s improved much. I had an RSC2 and I had to use my phone mounted on the cold shoe pointing at the subject and control the tracking and it was terrible and would lose track . My usage is skating around bowls and mini ramps so tracking at a distance is vital for me (I’m a solo shooter filming myself). Would be cool if you could take one down to Venice beach skatepark and stand on the side of the bowl and track someone skating around at a distance zoomed in on them etc. Thanks for the video it definitely looks good so far.
Thank you gene for bringing up the idea of a mic pass-through port on the gimbal. I am always dreaming of basicly the same for hdmi, because so many people run an external monitor with a gimbal and constantly have one of these thin hdmi cables that don't throw of the balance to much hanging down the setup. Maby DJI could add one or two more usbc ports to the gimbal ane of these could then lead to a matching one at the bottom somewhere around the joystick area where you could then attach a usb c to aux and/or hdmi adapter. I mean this kind of tech already exists for GoPros and it works quite good as far as I know.
Mr Potato Jet, I've been watching you for 3 years and I cannot fathom the amount of love & excitement I get from watching your content, And for parts in them where your showing some stuff you shot like those motorcycle clips It really just brought a smile to my face It's incredible, Never stop, Keep going!!
Dude 🔥🔥🔥🔥 those bike shots are awsome i means so great and so satisfying to watch i haven’t even watched the full video yet n commenting on this great work it shows how much u like taking these kind of shots ,today i learn something thanku
Coming from the Ronin M my favorite feature is the ability to manually focus af lenses with the dial via usb. I guess this was available on earlier models as well but it's new to me.
I didn’t watch the whole video but I face a very basic issue with rs3. In FPV mode the roll axis doesn’t respond as fluid as the pan and tilt.It doesn’t respond to any adjustments of follow speed or dead band also.If you set a custom mode where you disable the pan axis and you leave the tilt and roll only, then the roll axis works fine.So it is some kind of a software issue where the pan and roll axis don’t get along well.
Hello, Sorry but your videos just get better and better. This look like one very neat bit of kit. Super work thank you for all the work you but into these videos.
This is the calmest I’ve ever seen you. Lots of times it’s hard for me to watch your videos because you are so attention deficit challenged… But you seem to be coming down and it’s a much more pleasant experience. We like your passion we liked your excitement… But keep it under crazy.
Great review as always, however... Shout out on the Canva ad, I actually watched and dare I say enjoyed!? it... I haven't checked out Canva in a little while but it looks like it's become quite a beast!! I was thinking about upgrading to the RS2 recently, but I had this feeling... it's been a year, maybe DJI are about to drop a new one.... Low and behold!! 🤣
Would you say the RS3 is good enough for a R5 kit or would you rather go up to the pro for the “just in case” moments? Or are we better off just snagging a RS2 at a cheaper price
That was actually the kinefinity edge 6k. Cameras got some Kwirks and expensive for an unknown brand, but I don’t hate the image quality and it’s got a TON of features like electronic variable ND
Next new feature should be self balancing gimbal. Set camera on the plate and the gimbal moves it left, right, up, down however needed to balance the camera
The most important question is did they finally add back follow sensitivity that was removed from the rs2 series?? I can't figure out why they would have removed it and it makes operation much more cumbersome than an Ronin-s or ronin-2 in so many dynamic movement scenarios. Who cares if they keep adding peripheral features if they don't fix the most basic control functionality!
You can change the follow sensitivity on the RS2 you can choose between slow, medium, fast and custom speed. You can do it in the rs2 directly and within the app.
I fully agree with you. However I never really liked the movements of any of DJI’s gimbals to date. Freefly’s settings are the gold standard, and even Zhiyun’s gimbals have always had a nice majestic follow movement. The first Ronin S, even though it had a dead zone adjustment, never truly felt like zero. Neither did the M for that matter. They always leaned towards keeping a stiff and locked shot. The first RC was a huge improvement, and that’s when I finally switched away from Zhiyun. The RS2 is a slight improvement too, although still nowhere close to the Movi Pro. But for the size and strength and versatility, I still go for the RS2, and soon the RS3
@@OnIcePerspectives well with the proper control settings the movements are what you set them. Unfortunately now they took out a lot of control and they have bad jerky starts and are never quite the right speed.
@@noahyv Exactly, I didn't upgrade to the RS2 because it was missing the sensitivity slider and all the footage looked worse than on my DJI Ronin S. I haven't heard anyone confirm that they've brought it back yet
i'm running the z6/atomos with a sort of shotgun style handgrip. by the looks of it, the komodo with a cinelens actually looks a bit smaller clearance wise what I'm running which will make jumping barricades at festivals easier. i was already debating selling a kidney to get the komodo so I guess that just made my decision for me. thanks lol
I'm not in the market for gimbal or anything professional photography-wise but I enjoyed the hell out of the video - great editing, shooting and, as always, Gene is a delight!
Thanks for the video. Appreciate all the detail as well as "guest' impressions. And the riding shots looked pretty tasty. Would love to hear a little more about the MovMax rig.
great review! Do You know if previous generation focus motor (from RS2, RSC2) is compatible with RS3? Older motor is around half the price and new one is still unavailable in most shops
Loving the content man! What a great video. I have the Weebill 2 and it works great for my projects currently but I will definitely be going for an RS3 Pro at some point in the future. Keep up the awesome work!
Looks like the most realistic flaw is that the raven eye isnt built in for active tracking. Would be great if it had a camera onboars for active track. No hdmi cable to camera needed no cable for raveneye to gimbal. Clean
