Today we walkthrough DJI's Virtual Flight Simulator app to see it offers to new FPV pilots. The great news is, you don't have to own the drone! You can use a third party bluetooth remote or the touchscreen to fly.

I've been flying Quads for years mostly in a Normal or a Sport mode so I have a good understanding of how the sticks operate. I've owned my DJI FPV for several years and Love Sport mode especially with the Motion Controller. Can zip along through trees and past other obstacles getting great footage and testing my skills. I tried the Virtual Sim and had ZERO luck with using it in Manual. Didn't crash really but found myself flying backwards a few times when I was still pushing the right stick forward. I think the Sim is junk. Thanks for your videos Billy. You're one of the best I've seen.

The idea of a flight sim for FPV quads is so you understand the basic controls (throttle yaw & pitch). Skipping the sim step is like getting into a 500HP manual car without any driving experience at all. You will just crash it fast and hard, even with all the driver/flight aids. So always practice on the sim before you fly any type of FPV. I don’t want this hobby getting banned because someone flies into a google building on their first flight 😂

I'm sorry, but I 100% have to disagree with that opening statement. Their user base is huge and ANDROID IS HUGE. this is straight up unacceptable not to release this for Android at the time of release to the market. WTF DJI!?!? According to cancel culture we have enough racism, sexism and other ism's already. Let's not add OSism to the list too.

Lol. It’s a private company dude, they can do what they want. Easier to work with one OS than 5 at the same time, in this case they picked iPhone, probably did some math and realized they get more money from the smaller iPhone base than the bigger android base...I’m still laughing at the logic here.

My first experience with manual mode was on this app with the touchscreen. I’m relieved to hear that it’s awful cuz I’ve been practicing for a few days and was getting discouraged.

I have been losing my shiz the past few hours. I can do pretty well now, but holy hell, some of these stunts and the control of the drone is infuriating to say the least! Glad I am not the only one either!

Spent about 1-2 hours in the sim. Gotta say the real flying is completely different. It’s really a challenge just to keep the horizon level in full manual mode. Thank God for the oh-ah$& button!! Hopefully the motion controller will eventually be able to go full manual. Much less to concentrate on and it’s so much more intuitive.

Ordered an aftermarket PS4 controller. It works as well. The only issue is that the centering of the left stick makes you constantly gain altitude. I advise getting those thumbstick extenders though.

DJI missed an opportunity again cause we own android only and I guess a lot of us have it too. Time they find a support for the most popular OS ... instead of preferring apple ios in this case.

These are not fpv controllers the throttle automatically snaps to the middle. Would be horrible to fly with

dji will not be releasing it for android, because its not needed. You can connect your controller to the pc and play the real dji flight sim not the beta version for iphone. Remember the operating system for the dji drones is android, that is why everything works better and has more features on the android phones. The reason they choose android over the apple is because, less the 10% of people use apple products.

Is there any chance to enable the additional tracks like in the garage. I have for example 6 stars and need 2 for that track ... nevertheless nothing happens. Same for other tracks.

Actually, the stars are shown as "*still* needed" - a misunderstanding was the issue. Getting familar with acro helps then to reach the target ;-) After that it is absolutely doable to reach all (5) stars ... in the 1st track it was for me in 17secs.

My wife bought the Mavic Mini 3 and she can fly it "ok" but has a long way to go before that muscle memory kicks in. We haven't had a chance to use it more than in a giant open field. I'd really like her to get some simulator time in to help build muscle memory, spatial awareness and confidence. Would you happen to know of an adequate SIM out there that's not just for FPV?

Thanks for the great video. Has DJI made any progress and/or comments on making an M1 Apple Silicon Mac app? Also, have they committed to adding simulators for DJI Mini 3? And, lastly, can you pair with the DJI Controller from the Mini 3 Pro [the RC one with screen]. I have had 3 drones [Mavic, Spark and now Mini 3] but am too afraid to learn and experiment in the REAL world. I'd love to experiment on my Mac [but iPhone /iPad] could work too. But I'm not interested so much in FPV as I am in DJI Mini 3 flying. What are your words of wisdom and what is DJI telling you about Mini 3 simulation and using Mini 3 RC remote etc? I'd say as long as you aren't using Nintendo Switch joycons, you should have an alright time connecting them up. I say this because Joycons technically count as two unique controllers, and two unique bluetooth devices. Most apps don't know what to do with that.

Some of you guys missing the whole point of the simulator. I come from the RC heli 3d flying hobby and the best pilots train in simulators. Is not just how the model feels on a simulator, is all about muscle memory. More you train on a simulator, more your thumb, fingers trained to use the sticks. Spend as much as time you can on the sim and enjoy the drone when you go out to fly for real. Now if I could stop feeling sick when I use the goggles on the sim................

I flew nitro rc helis and I can confirm that you should use a sim as well. I didn't get into 3d. I did fly some long distance with a medium sized video camera in a milk crate that I strapped the heli to. Last accident really made me take a break from the hobby. It was heartbreaking. Had a Hirobo Sceadu 50. Blade came apart and literally destroyed the entire heli. Was just too much.

Just because you can ace flying here doesn't mean you can cut it in real life. Don't shred it when flying for real because that's gonna be a costly mistake. The DJI PFV is tough but it's not THAT tough.

I try to use it with a emax d8 + otg and all gimballs are messed up. Yaw does throttle, throttle yaw, roll does pitch and vica versa....

Great video! Do you know if there is a way to link the goggles V2 and the DJI controller 2 without the FPV drone? I had the goggles for another setup and bought the controller just to try the simulator but cannot seem to link the two without the DJI drone. Wish I had seen your video first, would have just gotten a bluetooth controller! LOL

In the Virtual Simulation Time Trial I can't seem to get enough "Stars" to get out of Track One on to Track Two and Three. I've spent a few hours getting consistant low scores. I there a trick or is this a bug in the beta?

I don’t think this I will replace your mavic mate. I just bought it in addition to my Mavic, and I’m a newbie to fpv but from what i understand so far you wont get the same shots and aerial photography with the fpv. Not saying which is better but just different. I personally think if you had only one drone to do photography you probably want the mavics while the fpv is more fun to play with
