You are so lucky to live in California and have rust free vehicles to work on! Im doing my drop on my 92 flareside right now and its taking sooo much longer than it should thanks to all the nuts and bolts being rusted. Thanks for putting out these videos!
lol ....that's one benefit of living in Cali although born and raised in Ca , you pay for the whether I lived here all my life I live 15 min from DJM in Gardena I love Cali but man dude the traffic 😕 insane I'm a trucker too lol 😆
@@colossalnetwork8887I will say I did order some and I ended up grinding down some of the welds and painted them 🤷 not a big deal but for the money they should be better but they work great I had no fitment issues
you did a fine job, I have a 96 f150 ,short bed 2wd ,I plan on doing the sway bars and eventually lowering, your videos were great, now I know exactly what to do.have a great day my friend!
In the kit, DJM should do something about the sway bar link fitting. If you’re going to pay that much for an install and go, you shouldn’t have to fabricate stuff. Seems like an easy enough part to fab and include in the $850 kit.🤷🏻
Jose Mirella Negrete What have you been looking at? I honestly didn’t know what I was looking for at first just wanted a truck. Found this one on a field, had low miles, was a single cab and the price was good so I bought it.
Joel Fierros Do it! I thought It was going to be easy doing videos very week. But it’s just a lot of time, especially with editing and then buying parts lol.
Man that’s exactly what I don’t know what to do. I know how to work on cars just the editing is something new and don’t know where to start. I’ve only edited on IMovie on my iPhone. Im painting one of my 5.0s right now and i would be able to do some good content on that but The editing is where I’m not good at
You got a video on how to do the rear from what I understand it’s just getting the leaf springs underneath but don’t know where the shackles go and if there’s any thing else to it as well
came out good 👍 I was checking your install out I have A 69 F250 I just did the dream beams on it , they don't make them for my application but from 65-72 the king pin was the same on a 100 and 250 so I was able to use them . I'm also surprised DJM offered the flip brackets there usually big on spring hangers I used a flip kit from another co . not much changed from 69 to your year just advanced a little .
@@icsivan I'm hoping it's going to ride better it had very long coil springs factory cuz they really promoted that twin I-beam in the early 60s that car like ride works like a truck drives like a car idea the suspension is pretty much done I just did a lot of other things at the same time so I need to do some wiring for a gear vendor that I installed so now it's going to be a four-speed automatic C6 so hopefully it'll ride good I got four and a half inches out of it I put c20 front coil springs which were 84 wire diameter the stock spongy springs were only 69 inch thickness. So the front combined with the c20 coil spring that I cut a coil and a half off I got four and a half inches out of it and in the rear I did a flip like you did but it gave me 6 in.
You have to c-notch the frame to if you don't wanna slam into your bump stops at every little bump especially if you go any lower, ask me how I know :)
I used some shorter kyb shocks. Just we t to my local auto parts store and went through shocks that would fit my truck and I got the shortest they had. I think it was 3 inches shorter than oe
Not a bad video love it. But as a ford mechanic I would not know where to start. On some of the things that got missed. Or did not get explained. But over all great video love it
Thanks for watching man. I get what you’re saying, but i wasn’t really trying to do a how to video. I was assuming if you’re doing this job you have somewhat of mechanical knowledge. I remember when I was at a ford dealership. Especially on busy days when I would get gravy work. I enjoyed being flat rate. Now I own my own little business and I’m an independent contractor and do repairs for fleets. I
@@icsivan dog I still love ur video mine is a 92 with the 5.0 did the dream beams with 3 inch lowering coils and had to do the extreme camber casters from summit racing. And dang that bad boy can corner real good also en the rear did the flip kit with the lowering shakels and also a tortion bar for the back and dog. I can do 85 on the freeway like nothing. The only thing I had to set the pinion angle a bit higher so it would not vibrate. But still love the stance of ur truck
I did mine but my truck is low asf and it bounces to much they told me to get shocks and I did but it bounces a lil less it’s kinda annoying and now there telling me I should cut my frame but I don’t want to ruin my truck have any tips or should I just get another kit
Aye you ever thought about getting blscked out 04 f150 tailgate badges for your fenders, its big enough to cover the holes left behind and I think it looks bomb on mine. Your trucks been a big inspiration to mine man
I sold the truck, but I had it for 2 years after I lowered it. The beams held up fine. But I also didn’t abuse it. For example some guys that made their trucks for racing or track.
Stock shocks, but go to the auto parts store they have different heights for these trucks. I got the shortest ones they offered for this year F-150. Yes I did the alignment. Wasn’t bad at all.
👍 thanks for the video man. It really helped out throughout my installation. All I’m waiting for is the camber adjustable bushings. When I bought my truck they did a Mickey Mouse drop and one bushing is different degree than the other.
Great video. I also really like those hats you designed. I’m thinking about doing this on my 94 f150. Did your sway bar end link clear the tie rod/drag link or does it hit and need modification?
Thanks for the support man. 🙌🏼 Stay tune and subscribe, I’ll be doing a giveaway soon, at 500 subs. I had to switch up the sway bar links, I will show in a future video.
do you need to c notch the rear for this drop or can you just install this as it is also i love the way you explain how you do everything as you’re doing it thanks man
Have had mine for 5 yrs now and run a 22 hauling a 800lb speaker box also got 2 inch drop springs on rear axle flip and drop shackles home made front is 5 inch drop rear 8
Great video. I have a 93 flareside I have all the parts to do the 3-4 drop. After looking at yours I may go 3-5. Did you have to change any of the shocks? I'm too old to do the work myself so I am paying for the labor. Is there anything you wish you would have done different? Do you notice any difference in the ride? I like the look but am doing this to get in and out easier too.
Yes you will need shorter shocks. Not extremely crucial, but it will matter for ride quality. As for ride quality, it didn’t change much. Only when I go over big bumps do I notice a huge difference. I would also check out the bell tech setup. I hear that one is pretty good.
Did you use factory front springs?whats the part number for the front shocks you used.i already droped the rear about to.do the front.i would really appreciate it if you can provide rear schock part numbers and fronts thanks.
I’m running the stock springs and shocks. I went to Oreillys and the shocks they had in stock were a bit shorter than the OEM ones, so I just went with those as for the rear I’m running some motorcraft I got at the dealer, honestly a good ride. But I will be looking on getting shorter shocks for the rear.
Saludos. Cuando la tumbe, hace dos anos, el kit completo me costó unos $500. Pero creo que ya está más caro el kit completo. La compañía es DJM Suspension.
I just installed this same kit this last weekend, did you have to do anything to your Driveshaft or anything else? Started to drive it more today and theres a loud squeaking under the truck around the driveshaft area.. i cant put my finger exactly where its coming from tho.
Great video. I can't seem to get the bolt at 11:50 out. Smacked it with a dead blow 20+ times and couldn't get it to move. Any idea what I'm missing..?
For anyone who might run into this problem in the future. I ended up getting one side off by putting a 25in breaker bar on the bolt to get it spinning, than I was able to smack it out with a dead blow. The other side I had to use a big 1/2in drive impact for a few minutes because the breaker bar wouldn't do the trick. Once it's spinning it will come out.
It’s holding up pretty well. I also heard bad things about DJM, but most of that was with their earlier stuff, seems like they listen to all the complaints. I’m making an update video pretty soon.
Bearded Dragon Fab I would take it to an alignment shop and see how bad is it. It could be toe is too off causing excessive camber. If it’s not too bad you can also buy camber adjustment bushings and the alignment shop can correct it for you.
Yes, I used factory coils, and no it does not hit the rear frame bumps. I would also suggest you check out the belltech setup. I had no idea they made a lowering kit for this truck.
No I went to oreillys and got the shortest shocks they sell for my truck. They were KYBs. They offer different lengths, and also for lifted trucks. They had rancheros that were longer than stock and Monroe’s that were supposedly OEM and the KYBs were about an inch shorter. Ride felt good.
Hey bro I put the dream beams in the front and got it alignment on bumps does your trucks tires barely tick the fenders like if it sitting to low what do you think it could be?
Thanks. Nice! When are you doing the swap? I looked into it, but it’s kind of pricey, especially to get it done right, ie suspension, brakes, pluming and beefing up the frame.
Any problem with the steering ? I jist did my 95 f150 and the steering its horrible jerks to the left and right , any advice on how to,fix that ? Alignments ?
Edwin Morales Yes, before anything go get it aligned. Mine felt a little weird but, it was due to toe being way off thus affecting my camber too. After, It felt better. Also, sometimes you may need to add a camber kit, I fortunately didn’t.
I’ve had no issues since I installed, the only negative in my end was the placement of the sway bar. As for the belltech kit, it’s a 2” and 4” drop. Not as much as the DJM.
@@icsivan ahh okay i see. Yeah I like the idea of the beams retaining the springs and stock suspension geometry. Thanks for the input and making the vid, we appreciate it. Will definitely be doing this to mine soon. Thanks man, good luck with that good lookin truck!
First it’s not an F-100, and these obs F-150s use a mixture of metric and standard. Fasteners on the engine and frame are Usually standard, but parts like suspension, exhaust and efi stuff use metric. Thanks.
