she reminds me of the mother of a friend of mine. she always took care of all the bad kids in the neighbourhood, and some people were badmouthing her as if she was supporting bad behaviour. but these kids where who they were and had nowhere to go and without her, wouldn't be off any better, they would just die quicker. she also could solve conflicts and her word held weight.

Rent was 5x higher for two parent households, single mothers paid little to nothing and this became the mindset of the black mothers, your man has no chance of getting a job and the housing authorities offering you cheaper rent to kick him out. redlining made sure blacks stayed within certain areas and places like englewood became densely populated and full of crime cos everybody got no job. no money and in each other face everyday.
